This has been happening to me soooo much lately and it's driving my crazy. I contacted LG and they said they need to send someone out to check the wifi card inside the TV. Spoke with the shop I purchased it from and they said it is an ongoing issue but across all brands of TV'S. But advised to place the Ethernet cable in to the back of the TV to hardware your internet to the TV. Have done that and so far all is well. Will report back if anything changes. But am feeling all your frustrations. Even the LG guy said he has had multiple calls regarding this issue
The problem is not that it is hard to get it to reconnect using this method - it isn't. I've been doing using this daily to reconnect my LG tv since I bought the thing several years ago and can do it with my eyes closed. The other thing to note is that this method only allows you to reconnect the tv; it doesn't stop it from disconnecting in the first place. My problem is this is clearly a defect and LG doesn't want or doesn't have the talent to fix. I think there're taking the position that it's not that big of deal for end users or at least it doesn't bother us enough to make us stay away from their brand. Well, not me. I'm not going to complain and not do anything so I won't purchase another LG product. Of course 1 person won't impact LG, but at least they won't get my money in exchange for poor service.
Our TV just refuses to connect to our wifi. We've changes the password and the name for our wifi, restarted the tv, and even used the ethernet cord. The ethernet cord has been working but even _then_ connection drops out and/or apps say that the connection is unstable. WTF LG!??!
Thank you for this, I've been fighting this thing for over 2 years, couldn't ever figured out why it kept dropping. Thanks to this video it resolved my issue once and for all. Thanks again!!
Ok now I see LG having this wifi problem for 2017 untill now they haven't find away to fix this problem. Well so trick work an some don't work. It work an stop I plug out the power cable it work then suddenly it stop work. Lol I reset the tv started it up back it an suddenly it gone again. a next problem IAM facing is UA-cam my UA-cam usual load up in 1 or 2 second. Now it take 16 or 20second to start up. Anyway I think LG need to rebuild they UA-cam apps we need a UA-cam similar like the online UA-cam so wen choose our own Playback and performance quality either AV01 or VP9. But they need to do something about this wifi problem. Thank God for my Amazon fire stick. Lol 😆 I don't have this wifi problem on the fire stick.
*update* i ended up getting the new Router from spectrum and uninstalled my google nest mesh system. Working great so far. I feel the tv was having trouble picking which wifi point to use.* Brand new tv from Costco... 2 days in this started happening after I went and "customized" some settings. I'm not sure if it's an update that started it or me adding a zip code in the location settings. I thought it was something with the dual signal router but it's the weirdest problem for a "smart" tv! This fix worked for only a short time. I tried the other video fix of removing tape from some wires inside but it did nothing, if anything made it worse.
So I was having this issue as well as getting a message Wi-Fi is turned off. I tried this fix and it worked for a short amount of time (couple of months). It seems that the another issue could be the wi-fi module in the back of the TV can get dusty and cause connection issues. You can either get someone to do this or do it yourself, but if you open the back of the TV and disconnect the wi-fi module and clean it with a small brush (something that wont ruin electronics) and clean the connectors it should fix the issue. I have had my TV for 3 years and since its mounted the dust accumulates. WARNING: Do this at your own risk, I am not an expert of any kind but it worked for me.
I'm glad to hear that dust could be an issue. I'm at my absolute wits end with this tv. I'm trying the fix in the video first, but if this doesn't work, hopefully that will.
@@marimartinez4607 Unfortunately, the trick that I watched in this video did not help me at all. However, I kept looking into it, and discovered that there is a common manufacturing error where they crimp the ribbon cable of the wifi module, and that can cause issues as well. You will need to open the tv up, and flatten out the cable as best as possible, being VERY careful not to pull the ribbon cable out of the module, then just tape it back down. There is some blue tape that holds that cables together, that can be carefully cut off to make uncrimping it easier. It's not hard to do, just takes some patience. Since I did that, I have not had any issues with it not finding my wifi signal. Hope this helps, let me know if there is anything else i can do.
@@Wolfchant17 this is ridiculous to all those reading this do not try it there is no technical nor common sense approach here. Seems that you're unplugging the tv in the process and that is what is fixing the problem, unplugging is the same as rebooting a laptop and that will usually solve the problem (yes the internet side of your TV is a computer)
This first happened to me about a year ago. At the time my tv was maybe a year old. I saw this same fix somewhere, tried it and it worked. Then a few days later it disconnected again and I have not been able to fix it since. I've repeated this several times and it still does not work. Thankfully I can access my apps through my Xfinity X1 remote, but it still pisses me off. My tv hasn't been able to update in over a year. I regret buying a LG.
I hope this works. I’ve suddenly had the LG TV that I’ve had for 3 years drop internet connection. I would reset factory the tv each time which was a major pain. Finally decided to leave the TV on all night once it connected so kids would have access in the morning. I just did your suggestion and it worked!! Thank you!!
This really isnt a fix. This is just rebooting the wifi on the device. This doesnt work long term. The wifi devices on these tvs are just poorly designed.
My LG tv was constantly disconnecting an reconnecting the internet connection. It is connected with an RJ45 cable. Nothing worked to fix it until I opened it up and took out the circuit board and re-soldered the pins on the RJ45 connector. That fixed it.
This helped immensely! I moved across the country and even after updated my zip and location, I still had my wifi dropping. What an easy fix! Thanks a million!
Good video and I hope it works for most people. However I found that my LG smart tv first started showing the wifi off error message and then started telling me that the LAN connection was not connected. I searched the LG site and found a recommendation to go into settings and TURN OFF Quick Start in General settings. I did that and now have no problem with LAN recognition AND my wifi finds numerous wifi networks. Hope this helps those for which the video does not work.
It didn't fix mine but thank you anyway. LG.... never again! The TV was less than 3 years old when the network started dropping and completely dead since 6 months ago. Now it's a stupid TV not a smart one.

following up to the follow up. 2 years later still working fine. I would say 1/20 times turning on the tv the wifi won't connect and turning the tv off and on again reconnects it. Thanks to everyone letting me know it worked/didn't work. I had no idea that many people would be looking for this fix! @@Soupcan13 Update: It did not fix my issue. For what it's worth, I have an LG CX 77". I've tried hardwired straight to the TV, bypassing the stock Nic by using a USB one, and wifi. My router is just below the TV and tends to get the best speeds (even better than ethernet). I'm about 5 mins away from ordering an Apple TV 4K and never thinking about this again.

Man, I'm getting this "no signal" message when I turn on my tv, randomly. But I unplug then replug the HDMI from the cable box and it solves the issue until one day randomly, I turn on the tv and it happens again. I have internet, just the cable gives the "no signal". Anyone else have this problem?
@@mikejohnson2173 It was the cable box itself. I received a new box that was defective. Cable company gave me a new hdmi but I already replaced it with the old defective box but not so sure if that could be the reason. Hope this helps Mike.

Lol this has been happening for months now and i thought it was my TV. Just happened as im typing this comment and i said “let me search this problem on UA-cam” and your video pops up.. hopefully this works, such an inconvenience.
Wow! You've just fixed my TV here in England. I have a fast internet connection, my TV, which uses wireless, would buffer every 20 seconds or so. I figured it was a physical issue with the wireless receiver. I tried your suggestion with little to no hope, seemed like a long shot, but it blummin worked!! Thank you so much. I'm amazed!
Very much appreciate this. I thought it was my internet but everything else was running fine EXCEPT my LG tv. Fixed the problem so big thanks for helping with the headache
I just had the tv for one month and already started having wifi issues. Good thing I followed your steps and my connection is back! Hopefully for good!!
Further to my previous comment: LG sent a guy to my house today to fix the problem. I have a 49UK7550PTA model and the guy told me that the problem with older LG's like mine (late 2018 in my case) is caused by a connector on the end of a ribbon cable that attaches to the green circuit board. When the TV gets hot, things expand sufficiently for the connector to get a bit loose, and the poor contact is why the TV loses its WiFi connection. He just swapped the whole cable and connector out for a newer one with a different design that is not subject to the expansion problem. All good now. For anyone in Australia: you can get this done even if your TV is out of the guarantee period - as mine is - because you're protected by Aussie consumer law. Just get on the online chat with LG support and they'll send someone out.
Thankyou. You just saved me from throwing my remote control at the TV in anger. Turned it on to see it had disconnected from the WiFi and whenever I tried to reconnect it just kept showing an error. A quick Google and I find this video.. and it worked perfectly!
Thank you! Another video suggested unscrewing the back and unscrewing the modem. Looked like a nightmare. Tried this and it worked immediately! Thanks!
Works temporarily, then will revert back. Only real solution is to get rid of LG Smart Tv, which I did about 2 months ago, replacing with Samsung. Much better in every way.
This is the best comment. Folks think this fix works permanently, but it doesn’t. As I mentioned in a previous post, this reconnects your WiFi for sure, but it doesn’t lasts. More importantly, you shouldn’t have to do this and LG knows this. It bothers me when manufacturers know they have a defect and won’t do they right thing and correct it, or give me a tv that works correctly, or give me money to buy a tv that works correctly.
I bought my TV in 2019 (same exact menu options you have, but remote a bit different) and it just started having this problem in the past 6 months. I would reset my internet gateway, restart the TV, etc, and that would seem to work for a bit but it would inevitably start doing this again. Just tried this and so far so good. Will update in several hours. So, this fix didn't last for me...unfortunately.
Same. My LG is more than 5 years old but we've never had any issue with it. About a month ago it started dropping the wifi. At least this fix continues to 'work' in that I'm able to connect to wifi when needed and watch whatever for the evening. That's something!
Anyone know of any newer 'fixes'? Streaming apps are still buffering after doing this. Internet is generally fine, everything else I have is connected and internet is super stable for them.
2:51 Tried this and didnt work. It turns out the most common widespread problem for these LG tv's saying 'wifi not found or connected' is the wifi module being kinked or having dust. (There's lots of blogs and videos on hiw to clean it) I took off the back of mine, blew some compressed air and it worked like a charm.
I think I might be the only one but this didn’t work for me 😭 I’m ready to throw the TV in the bin… LG are sending a tech out but said if it’s deemed my fault I have to pay for repair and parts 🙄 idiots
Tried it with hopes, made my TV faster I think? But dropped internet again. No longer buying LG products because of this and smart TV apps keep becoming unsupported.

It’s just annoying to see that notification pop up every few minutes. I’ve just decided to to turn off Wi-Fi in tv and turn it on when I need it.
Thank you. My LG has been dropping out repeatedly for a couple of months. I tried this and it worked. Sweet!
Our TV just refuses to connect to our wifi. We've changes the password and the name for our wifi, restarted the tv, and even used the ethernet cord. The ethernet cord has been working but even _then_ connection drops out and/or apps say that the connection is unstable. WTF LG!??!
this helped me so much, my tv has been disconnecting for months now and this is the first thing to fix it, thank you so much!!
That's awesome! Glad it worked for you!
Didn’t work for me!!
Likewise
Amazing. You've just prevented me from throwing my new TV out the window! Thank you.
Didn’t work for me 😢
Thank you for this, I've been fighting this thing for over 2 years, couldn't ever figured out why it kept dropping. Thanks to this video it resolved my issue once and for all. Thanks again!!
Didn't work for me. I did what you said but my LG wifi keeps dropping. I go into network settings and wifi just keeps saying "checking"
Same wtf
So this just happened to me after having my tv for 2 years and I followed this and all seems well!! Thanks
Awesome! Glad to hear it helped!
This seems to have sorted my issue … thank you!
Nice!
*update* i ended up getting the new Router from spectrum and uninstalled my google nest mesh system. Working great so far. I feel the tv was having trouble picking which wifi point to use.*
Brand new tv from Costco...
Interesting! That's the first time I've heard this fix
I'm glad to hear that dust could be an issue. I'm at my absolute wits end with this tv. I'm trying the fix in the video first, but if this doesn't work, hopefully that will.
@@Wolfchant17 Have you tried this yet?
Worked like a charm thanks man, @LG SHOULD BE GREATFULL!
Awesome fix. I had this tv for a couple years and this just happened to me. Your fix worked immediately. Nice job and thank you!
LG is fucking awful, never again buying this crap. Paid 1.4k for it too 😂😂😂
I hope this works.
This also fixed the issue of my LG TV not recognizing the remote! Even LG support or Costco couldn't help.
Awesoooome!
Thanks for this very simple, clear, easy to follow tutorial/fix. This bug has been driving me nuts over the past few months.
It didn't fix mine but thank you anyway. LG.... never again! The TV was less than 3 years old when the network started dropping and completely dead since 6 months ago. Now it's a stupid TV not a smart one.
Had my LG for at least a year and it started disconnecting. Thought it was my internet, router, etc… not all heros wear capes 🤙🏾 thank you and idk how you even thought of this but im glad you did lol
Hey thank you! Glad it helped you out!
following up to the follow up. 2 years later still working fine. I would say 1/20 times turning on the tv the wifi won't connect and turning the tv off and on again reconnects it. Thanks to everyone letting me know it worked/didn't work. I had no idea that many people would be looking for this fix! I'm jazzed it helped alot of folks and for the people it didnt Im sorry I wish I could give you more advice
Two years later and this video saved my tv! Because I was literally one more interruption from throwing a rock at my tv! You my good man are a gentleman and a scholar! Thank you for figuring this out!
I know right? I’ve suffered with this for over 3 years!!
Never again will I ever get an LG TV I've always got Samsung in the past never had any problems with any of those TVs
Based on the number of comments about this, I'm optimistic that this will solve my problem. Thank you for offering an alternative solution to the several I've already tried with no success. Appreciate it!
Hey fingers crossed I hope it works for you! It's a really odd mix of success and failure on here
@@Soupcan13 Update: It did not fix my issue.
Did not fix mine either
Tried it - didn’t fix.
I was having this issue and just tried this method. Fingers crossed.
Thank you so much!
I tried everything imaginable for four days. Turned to UA-cam and found you. This works! You restored my sanity. God bless you!!
That worked! cant believe they have made an update as I have been cursing this TV every time I try to use it.
You're the real MVP!!! Thank you so much.. I was upset and thought I was going to have to buy a new TV. You saved me a few hundred dollars!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!
Hey that's awesome news! Glad it worked for you!
Thx man! Shame on lg for not releasing an update
I am having the same problem! Any luck so far for you?
@@mikejohnson2173 It was the cable box itself. I received a new box that was defective. Cable company gave me a new hdmi but I already replaced it with the old defective box but not so sure if that could be the reason. Hope this helps Mike.
lol I feel like I didn't explain well enough. my old box was defective, but the new box the cable company gave me was also defective, wasn't until I receive the 3rd box and replaced 2 hdmi cables the issue was resolved.
The TV dropping the Internet periodically is that a sign that the chip the Internet chip is bad?
FIXED Try this method…. Settings, all settings, general, additional settings and turn off quick start so the button is then grey. Hope this helps ❤ it’s definitely sorted my 65” LG out
Lol this has been happening for months now and i thought it was my TV.
I'm amazed!
Awesome!
I think this caused by upgrading kept going because it has been okay then suddenly happened like a few months later.
Well I’m giving this a whirl. I’ve had mine for about 10 months and it’s been doing this for the past 2 weeks! Thank u fingers crossed this works!
You can do it!
Very much appreciate this. I thought it was my internet but everything else was running fine EXCEPT my LG tv. Fixed the problem so big thanks for helping with the headache
Of course! I'm glad it worked!
Worked like a charm. Why would these companies put software on here that craps out like this.
I just had the tv for one month and already started having wifi issues. Good thing I followed your steps and my connection is back! Hopefully for good!!
Hey that's Awesome! I'm glad it helped!
Awesome news! Glad it worked for you!
Ok so we shall see.. i hope it works because its been driving me crazzzzy for almost a month now.
Thank you! Another video suggested unscrewing the back and unscrewing the modem. Looked like a nightmare. Tried this and it worked immediately! Thanks!
Nice! Always cool when an easy fix works
imma have to do that cause i did this video worked for about a month but its not working as much anymore guessing something wrong with sensor
This does not work, don’t waste you time
At all
Three years later and this is STILL helping people. Just gave it a shot.
giving this a shot but im optimistic! thanks for taking the time to post
I hope it works for you! The connection thing was driving me friggin crazy. So far so good
did it work
I bought my TV in 2019 (same exact menu options you have, but remote a bit different) and it just started having this problem in the past 6 months.
This has been driving me crazy for MONTHS! Thank you
It doesn't work. In my case still shows wi-fi off...
Omg!! I just got my LG and was seriously about to take it back for dropping Wi-Fi connection. You saved me the trip! Thank you!!
Nice! Glad to hear it helped!
Tired it. Still saying WiFi is turned off 😩
I did this and it still disconnecting. The most annoying tv ever a waste of money!
What if youre like in a other country like some where in south america?
This is not working for me, I hate this tv!!!!
Hopefully this works. I've changed my TV to a wired connection and it was still disconnecting. Fingers crossed 🤞🏾
Anyone know of any newer 'fixes'? Streaming apps are still buffering after doing this. Internet is generally fine, everything else I have is connected and internet is super stable for them.
Did you ever figure yours out, on mine Netflix works fine but every other app including lg channels says no signal
Fixed it.....for about 2 hours 🤦🏽♂️
As much as I hoped, this fix did not work for me. LG connection still sucks. Am happy so many were helped.
I think I might be the only one but this didn’t work for me 😭
I’m ready to throw the TV in the bin… LG are sending a tech out but said if it’s deemed my fault I have to pay for repair and parts 🙄 idiots
Ever any luck
Thanks for the idea, but it doesn't seem to work for me. Looking forward to that LG customer service call (said no one ever).
Yeah it's pretty hit or miss. Sorry it was a miss for you 😦
Didn't work.
Tried it with hopes, made my TV faster I think? But dropped internet again. No longer buying LG products because of this and smart TV apps keep becoming unsupported.
Yeah this video has totally opened my eyes to how many people were effected by this. Never buying an lg tv again
@@Soupcan13 it used to be all I had bought but seeing different models have this issues is a huge red flag. If they wanted to protect their company they should offer a bug fix. I'm sure it's simple on their end.
Thank you! So far so good. I am really disappointed with LG. So many issues!
I DO IT . BUT STILL NOT CONNECTED 😭
Thank you so much the information you have given has done the trick, I was experiencing Wi-Fi connection problems before I couldn’t put in my password now after doing exactly what you have suggested everything is working fine now , my Wi-Fi is now connected My TV is now working great, you have made me so happy 😃 what an easy video to follow you certainly did a great job thanks again buddy 👍
I just found this! Fingers crossed it still works...I've been losing my mind with this issue! Thank you sir!
didn't work for me
Hey man. Thanks for the tips. I have this tv for 4 years and suddenly keep dropping me out every 5 mins.
