Join us for a recap of the insightful Shelby Township Fire Department Stroke Awareness Townhall held May 8 at the Shelby Township Senior Center at 14975 21 Mile Road. Township Trustee John Vermeulen, alongside stroke team surgeons from McLaren Macomb Hospitals and firefighter/medics from the Shelby Township Fire Department, spearheaded this crucial event.
The event highlighted vital information on stroke prevention and survival strategies, particularly tailored for seniors. Representatives from the Shelby Township Senior Center shed light on ways seniors can enhance their chances of avoiding or surviving strokes, while also showcasing services available to the Shelby Township senior community through collaboration with the fire department.
In addition to engaging presentations, attendees enjoyed a comprehensive Q&A session with the surgeons, firefighters and Mr. Vermeulen, addressing pressing concerns and providing invaluable insights.
While this event marked its inauguration, plans are already underway to make it an annual affair, uniting Shelby Township Fire, Shelby Township Senior Center, and McLaren Macomb to raise awareness during American Stroke Month.
