When the whole purpose of an economy is growth which is based on consumerism, how are you supposed to contain pollution? Example:- Apple wants to out do its previous record and sell a billion iPhones !
The UA-cam algorithm is affected by how many videos, the content creators upload , it's beyond my comprehension how long they can sustain and add memory cards ! The problem is humans and their unquenchable thirst to hoard more wealth and goods.
It’s just a fact of physics that the more hydrocarbons added to a volume of air the more heat that volume will retain. Think of it like insulation slowly acquiring more insulating mass. Keep track of the annual CO2 levels by going to the oceanic and atmospheric administration.
Detroit built and still builds large gas guzzling transportation and work vehicles. I bought a Honda Fit. The way I drive it I get 40-43 miles per gallon in a vehicle rated at 33 miles per gallon. But Honda discontinued producing this vehicle in the USA. Matter of fact most of the gas guzzling vehicles still are built in the US. None of our youth are taught how to maximize the mileage in their economy cars. On my block, mostly poor to middle class have gas guzzling vehicles. Not only that they kick off their day and their weekend cruising by stomping on the gas peddle and then slamming on the brake at the last minute near the s top sign. We need to stop building and selling gas guzzling vehicles. We need everyone who demands to purchase a gas guzzling vehicle that they pay a thousand dollars a year to purchase the vehicle and be able to demonstrate a need for such a vehicle. We need all car manufacturers to build really nice vehicles that are designed to optimize the economies of the carbon vehicles. We also need incentives to manufacture much better fuel efficient and alternative methods of travel that safe our natural resources.
I’m eager but I hear no playbook or list of things to do for the common person other than make sure you have this conversation with other people. Is that the message? Make sure you share this story? I wish there were more actionable items.
STOP voting for politicians funded into elected office by the Oil and Gas Lobby. So SIMPLE even a brainwashed ignoramus human being can do it!

This speech is at the very least on par with November 2018. But in truth it rockets far beyond it. If the future could show us mercy by visiting our time to counsel us for our own good this would be it. I consider her to be a clarifying prophet, but how wise she is to speak to the people in a modern scientific way they can understand, instead of religious concepts and imagery they can no longer relate to. We're working on it, Greta! People are dropping off and refusing to work or leave the house, not wasting energy on getting dressed or combing hair. 7 Million men 25-50 have dropped out of work in the U.S. in part due to your perseverance and steadfast message, and conserving by wearing pajamas all day.
If you don't move too much it doesn't waste much energy, keeps temperatures down, and less heavy breathing is less carbon emissions. Less sweat means less showers needed or laundry, and fewer calories, and fewer maintenance people needed. Fewer people outdoors means less traffic or need to keep up hiking trails or import parts for shoes or bicycles.
And if we could get electric vehicles banned we could prevent pollution in the northern hemisphere because we wouldn't need to mine for the metals or import coal to operate the mines, nor would we have to dispose of the batteries in southern hemisphere. This would also eliminate low paid workers in other countries. If we could figure out how to eliminate a few billionaires from buying up all the farm and ranch land it may help. They are Green Washing, for sure, every time they claim they need it all for saving the planet....for themselves.
Greta, you are helping to save the earth from catastrophe, but we need more and more to follow your example and help conserve, sustain, and get the word out. You're brilliant and a shining star, the conscience of the planet.

There is a need for each country leader and business and society to know the exact solutions to the climate crisis where, what, why and by how much in order to make a difference. Though at present the current crisis is a backdraft from the global covid lockdowns. And now they have returned mostly to the original bad habits of the way of doing things in the past so it’s now compounding the problem because there is no rapid societal solutions nor real changes education training or implementation at pace to do the job and implement the solutions from sources to prevent cause and effect.

“Down the road in the canal,” replied her godmother, ‘Just make sure you avoid water with cholera in it”
“Why’s there no running water?” Greta asked, becoming a little peevish.
“Well,” said her godmother, who happened to teach engineering at MIT, “Where do we begin?” There followed a long monologue about how sink valves need elastomer seats and how copper pipes contain copper, which has to be mined and how it’s impossible to make all-electric earth-moving equipment with no gear lubrication or tires and how ore has to be smelted to make metal, and that’s tough to do with only electricity as a source of heat, and even if you use only electricity, the wires need insulation, which is petroleum-based, and though most of Sweden’s energy is produced in an environmentally friendly way because of hydro and nuclear, if you do a mass and energy balance around the whole system, you still need lots of petroleum products like lubricants and nylon and rubber for tires and asphalt for filling potholes and wax and iPhone plastic and elastic to hold your underwear up while operating a copper smelting furnace and . . .
“What’s for breakfast?” interjected Greta, whose head was hurting.
“Fresh, range-fed chicken eggs,” replied her godmother. “Raw.”
“How so, raw?” inquired Greta.
“Well, . . .” And once again, Greta was told about the need for petroleum products like transformer oil and scores of petroleum products essential for producing metals for frying pans and in the end was educated about how you can’t have a petroleum-free world and then cook eggs. Unless you rip your front fence up and start a fire and carefully cook your egg in an orange peel like you do in Boy Scouts. Not that you can find oranges in Sweden anymore.
“But I want poached eggs like my Aunt Tilda makes,” lamented Greta.
“Tilda died this morning,” the godmother explained. “Bacterial pneumonia.”
“What?!” interjected Greta. “No one dies of bacterial pneumonia! We have penicillin.”
“Not anymore,” explained godmother “The production of penicillin requires chemical extraction using isobutyl acetate, which, if you know your organic chemistry, is petroleum-based. Lots of people are dying, which is problematic because there’s not an easy way of disposing of the bodies since backhoes need hydraulic oil and crematoriums can’t really burn many bodies using as fuel Swedish fences and furniture, which are rapidly disappearing - being used on the black market for roasting eggs and staying warm.”
This represents only a fraction of Greta’s day, a day without microphones to exclaim into and a day without much food, and a day without carbon-fiber boats to sail in, but a day that will save the planet.

We can attack the CO2/methane in the things we use every day, and then worry about the ones that we only use in tiny measure once every 6 months..
We can place an appropriate carbon tax on production of things that release CO2 and methane, and return all the revenue as a carbon dividend to consumers (like Canada is ALREADY doing), who can use the windfall to buy the more-expensive carbon intensive items or choose by market incentive to save on the less-carbon-intensive alternatives that will be offered.
