The P3 is manufactured by Lockheed in USA. It's a Military Version of the Lockheed Electra. The Navy still uses them as wella s the Coast Guard. Even as early as the Cuban Missile Crisis, they were used to track Soviet Subs off Florida. I live in Florida, and I've seen them often. They are actually beautiful. They have a strange Engine Configuration that enables the Propellers to actually slow the plane to very slow speeds, deliberately to remain airborne but slow enough to track subs or anything else they may need to do reconaissance missions for
I was in VP-6 (Patrol Squadron SIX) based at NAS Barber's Point, Hawaii back in the late 60's. Spent many hours of flight time in these all over the Pacific. Go Blue Sharks!
From 1971- 1973 I was at Commander FleetAirWing Two Operations Control Room ( OCR) NAS Barbers Pt Hi. The VP Squadrons were 1 screaming eagles ; 4 skinny dragons ; 6 blue sharks ;17 whitelightning ; 22 bluegeese . I compiled status reports on each of the squadrons and reported them to the Wing Commanders LULU and Carnegie. I flight follow a/c and controlled training airspace South of the Big Island. I lived at NAS Barbers Point Housing
I used to work at Barbers Point. Too bad the base was closed--in 1999, I believe. It was a nice base. The base was turned over to the state of Hawaii, so one can imagine what the place looks like now. Total neglect. SMH.
+Chunyin Timothy Poon He is on secondment. We Brits have numerous former Nimrod personal on secondment with other countries after our idiotic government decided to scrap Nimrod and leave our ISLAND nation without a maritime patrol plane!!!
Sounds a bit selfish but I too could be a passenger in that plane. Are these disappointing search operations are what authorities gonna do if I were victimized by conspiracy or terrorism ?! Damn it

We get Aussies, Brits and Americans on exchange here in Canada to train to fly our CP-140.
@@ToonandBBfan if you're still on here I miss those beautiful nimrods coming in to NAS Brunswick. Had some good times with those crews! Fly Navy!
*Jason Bradley* I actually had a RIDE in a Nimrod at RAF Kinloss in 1993 (I was an air cadet at summer camp).
Why don't they put a UAV up in the air
That’s not how it works
I know this sounds crazy, but,.,have you thought of looking in the other direction? Outer space so to speak?
sorry but that's a totally crazy thought
Not so crazy ..how about Roswell new Mexican.....67 yrs ago
Carroll Whittle Gonna check it out now... Haven't heard about it by now
Lol I know. :)
Phillippines will get tjis type of planes from china or russia.
We have submarines that can hear things like a big plane falling into the water and triangulate it ...
Needle in a hay stack... will MH370 ever be found? ✈️🤔

You seriously think the governments care about you? It's all for show. They shot the plane down because it had a whistleblower or something on it.
Why dont they used submarines!?
