    I love the way you explain things in a clear and simple way. I've been a self-employed gardener for just 18 months and your videos have improved my knowledge and confidence to try new tasks. I have been asked to level lawns several times but, because I've never done one, I've shied away from it. I’ve followed pretty much all of your videos and gone from what looked like corn stubble to a deep green, soft lawn. Now I’ve gone down the rabbit hole of lawncare, I’m seeing how bumpy my lawn is. My question is; it seems in my case that it would be less work to “cut off” the tops of bumps rather that fill in the rest of the lawn. Is this something that can be done?

    • @Premier_lawns_official
      @Premier_lawns_official  Рік тому +1

    Do you have any thoughts on old, decayed tree roots? Do I need to remove them or can I just fill in where they've decayed/sunk down? I think the previous owner took the tree out about 10 years

    Very helpful thank you. Any thoughts on taking out bumps caused by moles or ants? Ant hills have become a big problem in my front garden. I can never seem to reduce the height enough through brushing or raking.

    I use half top soil half mason sand. First time I used only top soil with the rain it sunk some. I have Bermuda and it grows on anything. Some people are not a fan on using sand but in my case it worked perfectly. It leveled my lawn faster and grass grew without problems

      Great 👍 The downside to sand is it doesn't hold onto nutrients on water 💦

    Hi Robbie, have recently subscribed to your channel, which is great for complete beginners like me 👍🏻. Basic question here: I’m levelling lawn and I have found what seems to be brick rubble underneath the soil. I’ve been told it’s good for filtration but I’m wondering if I should leave it or not. Thanks! 👌🏻😃

    Would you suggest another layer of top soil on top of the seed or would it be grand just raked in? I’m always concerned about pulling the seed into one area and neglecting another after I have spread it or scattered it

    • @Premier_lawns_official
      @Premier_lawns_official  2 роки тому +1

      No need to add more soil, just a gentle tick in with the rake 👍 you could stand on it then rake. Less chance of it moving

      After the frosts have passed, you can do it the entire way through the summer and into the autumn too assuming that there isn't a hose pipe ban

    1: Urine is a very good and free lawn fertilizer. I saw it particularly when a hose broke on my urine spreader. A couple weeks later it looked like our tall grass was three times higher than the rest and a very dark green colour, so diluting it is key.
    2: If you have more of a meadow type lawn where you want ho preserve the biodiversity you can remove the top layer, fill in underneath and roll the top layer back. Or fill with very thin layers of soil over several years.

    Hi, this might not be the right platform to ask this question, but here goes. My garden is really uneven, I want even it up as cheaply as possible(it currently has patchy grass), I can get hold of fresh horse manure, can I just throw that on and keep leveling it, or will burn the growing grass?

    • @Premier_lawns_official
      @Premier_lawns_official  Рік тому

      Horse manure won't do it. Chances are it will burn the lawn. But that's not the main reason for NOT using it. Horse manure will break down over time and your lawn won't get any more level, it may end up worse if anything
