one of the best and most underrated bands of the 90s, and this is probably my favorite song off Cure for Pain. Hilarious lyrics about a tawdry love affair gone wrong.
Totally agree. I loved them from the moment I heard Cure for Pain. It's Thursday, and I'm sending out that great tune to a few folks today. I love to turn folks on to great music. So sad, Mark passed away so young, he was destined to give us so much more.
@@vivianaastudilloit’s actually based on a novel Mark read; I’ll try and find it for you; basically a single guy would sleep with a housewife every Thursday, but always at a hotel (“called ‘The Wagon Wheel”); then one day she told him her husband was out of town so there was no need for a hotel; but the neighbors saw his car and he had to flee town as her husband was trying to murder him. ♡
Absolutley.. one of my favourite bands of all time.. forever Mark's voice and Dana's sax dance together, wildly sometimes - like in this track, and at other times incredibly sensually. truly genius.
Saw Morphine live quite a bit in the mid 90s. Think he said this song was true and inspired by an experience he had while living in Park County CO. Think it's Breckenridge 9.14.95 where he discusses this song. I'll have to check the tape again
Mark Sandman went out exactly as he would have wanted - on July 3rd 1999 he took that trip to the other side while performing on stage in Lazio, Italy. Buena indeed.
I love Morphine. I’m a Boston girl and I love the Sax. I was fortunate enough to see them live at Lalapalooza in Phoenix several months before he passed.
I recommend watching the documentary "Cure for Pain: The Mark Sandman Story". And also listen to other Mark Sandman bands such as: Treat Her Right, Hypnosonics.
Morphine (the band) is simply... powerful. I am grateful to have experienced them live. The stage setup was ... no other words can describe ... just simple. The song conveyed the feeling, not the show. To any person or group listening: please just make powerful music. The power is from you, not how anyone else chooses to project or promote it.

I wonder who was the music supervisor for that show and did Stevie Van Zandt consult? This has some serious Van Zandt Garage vibes and also T. Bone Burnett television soundtrack vibes …
From Wikipedia: “Series creator David Chase personally selected all the show's music, with the producer Martin Bruestle and music editor Kathryn Dayak-sometimes also consulting Steven Van Zandt, who portrays Silvio Dante on the show and is also a guitarist for Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band.”
@@willydeezle I don’t remember the scene, I just remember a great soundtrack and background music that wasn’t necessarily on the soundtrack. But thanks for the correction! I appreciate it! Edit: I just threw on Buena and they do have very similar bass guitar slide and overall sound! Very close.

One of my desert island albums. RIP Mark Sandman
♥
what do you mean with "desert island"? sorry i really dont understand
If you were stranded on a desert island what album would you bring? I would bring Cure for Pain@@robertovelasquez6078
@@robertovelasquez6078, he meant one of the pieces of music that person would bring somewhere remote, you know ❤
@@robertovelasquez6078 if they were to be stranded on an island and could take an album with them, they would take this one. i would do the same

'Cause I was really never quite sure
When her husband was coming back

It turned out it was one of the neighbors
One of the neighbors, one of the neighbors that saw my car
And they told her, yeah they told her
They think they know who you are
Well her husband is a violent man
A very violent and jealous man
Now I have to leave this town
I gotta leave while I still can

The extremely heavy, rolling slide bass sounds so sick. scratches an itch
Thank you that was really fun. If it were 2001 this band would be #1 on the charts this week. I think you guys have a good chance, stick with it
