I’m relatively new at fishing but the 1 bass I caught on a senko it did tear it so I likely agree about needing to replace them. I appreciate your honest opinion and not pushing products
I’ve only got 2. 1 Texas rigged senko and the other on a drop shot with a squirmin worm. But I haven’t prioritized catching largemouth when I’m out so that may be part of the reason. We just gotta keep hunting
I don’t use stick baits much anymore especially for “wacky” rigging. I use the ORIGINAL zoom speed worm with a center pin screw keeper in the middle. I can usually catch 4-5 fish per bait, something about the flat tail makes the fish on my lake eat it.
There is no doubt when I use them I go through a lot. I could use o rings or crossovers bur I like the action best straight hooked through. With that said I did use o rings for a lot of years to help with the tearing. Pricey too.
When I got into the stickbait game I bought yums and Big bite because they were cheaper. After falling in love with the technique, I decided to splurge and buy some senkos. I noticed that when I was catching fish on the sinko and losing a worm per bite because they're not durable. I ended up switching back to the dunger that day. I caught just as many bass. Another time I was struggling with getting bites in the senko and I switched to the yum and started catching. After that, decided that the yums and a much lower price point were better for me
@@LowBrowFishing thankfully that's no longer the case for me, I am a fly fisherman now LOL. All things being equal, why overpay for the senko when other options do just as well at a lower cost? Also, since the senco has low durability, when you go fishing you have to bring multiple packs with you. Half of your tackle storage is senkos for crying out loud
@@ericsh8576 absolutely, that could have been the case. At the end of the day, however, even if the senko's were better than other options, they're not that much better to justify the higher cost and lower durability. I fish a lot with the Slinko now which is also a Yamamoto product and it has a lot of the same issues. You get one fish out of them and they're expensive. However, they work very well and until a good alternative comes around, I don't mind paying for them
I appreciate your courage and honesty. I catch fish on them but, I think you make a good point… I’m not sure they are the best. I am depleting my current inventory and will try alternatives. I’ve been watching your content and it is top notch - keep up the great work - I’ve subscribed and I wish you great success!
@LowBrowFishing I live in Tennessee and after seeing a gut catch a 8lb bass on a wacky rigged senko and couldn't figure out where he got the color I decided to pinch the ones I could get and I was happy they just don't last as long. For longevity I prefer zman
Different baits for different uses. The Dinger and most of the other cheap stick baits are really good with a weighted rig because the extremely slow sink of those baits pairs better with external weight. However, I mostly use stick baits weightless, either Texas or wacky rigged, and in that application, the Senko is still the king with the Bass Pro Stick-O being the runner up. The combination of the action and sink rate isn't matched by any other bait in a weightless rig. Not only do they flat catch fish, but every bass over 6 lbs (and that's a big bass out here in the desert) has come on either an OG Senko or the BPS version. They do tear up more easily, but I'd rather have to swap out the bait every other fish than fish the same one all day and not get bit. Mend-It works great to put them back in action as well.
Senkos used to be my go to stick baits til I discovered the Bass Pro magnum stick-os and I switched and never looked back..more durable and cheaper plus the fall rate is better. Great content keep up the excellent content!
TBH never had much luck with stick baits down here in north FL. I'm usually going for a craw bite, or a uvibe speed worm, or free rigging a creature bait.
I’ve caught a fish on every senko I’ve thrown. Yup, “A” fish. The bait stayed in the water each time. My first pack was my last pack. They’re too expensive to go so fast.
I haven't used the Gary Yamamoto Senko much, but I have a couple different colors in my tackle bag. I just catch a bunch of bass this year on Yum Dingers and Berkley MaxScent the general, so I haven't used Yamamoto Senkos that much.
I do like those worms just because we won a tournament and now qualify for nationals because of the bait but I do really understand the price part so I get them at Walmart for way cheaper now
I free rig a lot of Zman hula stick baits, because they float upwards. I'll use Dingers for neko rigs, and senkos or ocho's for normal wacky rigs. They'll last more than one catch if you grab some soft silicone tubing and chop it up. Costs pennies so its way cheaper than those stupid VMC cross ring things.
I was catching large bass on plastic worms in late 80’s…ive never noticed a difference in using yamamoto, yum, bass pro…strike king…etc…i catch em on all of them…so if theres one thats half the cost…thats what im buying
Shrink wrap for darker colors like junebug, pumpkin, black. Screw lock or a clipped piece the spring from an ink pen. Both solid hacks for extending the life of your wacky rig senkos.
Got to say that I love the original senko. But I say this as someone who fishes them weightless and when I need less movement, but I go for other brands if I going for something lighter and with more movement.
@@LowBrowFishing I agree I also cut small portions of my stick baits off depending on the size profile I want. Sometimes the bass in my area want smaller more subtle baits, especially when I fish heavy grass.
Throwing weightless Texas rigged, I catch as many or more on Berkley Generals. Throwing wacky rigged, I catch more on the Yamamoto Senkos. My problem with Senkos is the fact that it’s usually one fish per worm, and at the price point, it’s crazy. I will say that I get multiple fish when wacky rigging with the VMC Crossover rings. I’ve started using the Yum Dingers but haven’t fished them enough to compare catch rate.
I use almost exclusively the Kalin's Sizmic Wac-O Worm. Then the Yum Dinger at times. I like those for cost, color selections, and availability. I have 5 kids, so I have to be thrifty with my bass fishing. I get last years gear at closeouts and holiday/seasonal sales.
I worked at a tackle shop for a year. We closed. I got to take a lot of stuff. I took every senko I could get. I don't use em, but they're excellent trade bait. Most anglers love them. I prefer the Zero from SK.
Interesting commentary. We just moved from Idaho to Tennessee. Idaho is trout, steelhead and Salmon. Many consider a Bass 'Trash' fish. We were just like that until we started going just for Bass. We didn't know anything about them or fishing for them. A buddy said Senko's Green and it's variants. The reservoir we fished in was 12 miles long and a 1 wide. Yes, a swollen river with depths to 160 ft. We could only fish 1/2 days as the skiers and the like would run us off by 1 Pm. Fishing 2-3 times a week only in reasonable weather we 90+ percent of the time we caught 15 a piece in 4 hours. The record was 72 landed by 2 of us in a little over 4 hours. The single record was 7 fish in 7 casts in less than 7 minutes. At 5500 + feet and with the brutal winters the smallies were just that! SMALL. The biggest we ever caught was 19 3/4 inches. It was fat but we didn't even own a scale. We were catch and release. YES! you guessed we would catch 500 each give or take each season. ALL of them on the Senkos weightless with 1/0 Gamakatsu EWG's. Now I'm thinking what if we had tried others? Living on the Tennessee River has been a wake up. Much bigger fish and Largemouth. Baitcasting with an array of lures but the learning from guys like you has made it a compete hobby! You're not going to chase me off! I listen to everything you say. Love the NO BS comentary....Keep it up and your 'Tip' too :)
I use Probites, they are availble online in bags of 100 for 20-30 bucks. They work WAY better than yamos, yamos are ruined after 1 bass if you're lucky. Most yamos rip before you can even catch with them. They completely lack any durability.
@LowBrowFishing The rainbow trout ones have a nice black/brown color and they are flavored with fennel. I think the fish bite them pretty hard with that taste.
I've caught numerous fish on a single Yamasenko wacky rigged with an "O" ring. There are hundreds of stick baits out there; so woe be it unto me to tell you which one to use. Use whatever "floats your boat". As for me, nothing beats the shimmy of a sinking wacky rigged Senko. A 6th Sense Clout comes close, but not quite.
Me likes Yamamoto's fine. They sink a little faster than most and shimmy a little bit more and sometimes that helps. They are prolly among the best for wacky rigs. But I try to fish on a budget and they aren't a budget bait. And watching them get tossed by a shaking bass is painful.
I get that but you shot down the Vega frog showing how you couldn’t hook the bass…to solidify your point…maybe a head to head vid with senko vs your fav stick bait…I’d watch it
I haven't tried every knock offs but i think the senko is the best! It has a better shimmy and sinks at a better rate its softer, slightly heavier and more salt. Never had much luck with the knock offs just saying...
I live in South Africa and the yamamoto senko is double the price of the yum dinger. I am a teacher and agree that the senko is overpriced even though a good lure. The dinger does exactly the same as the senko. We also have LOTS of grass in our dams and the softer senko tears easier in our water. I HAVE fished some of the yamamoto baits but agree that they are not value for money.
Last summer I decided to never buy Yamamoto ever again. They only last 2 or 3 fish at the most. I've even stopped using my old stock. Just last week my buddy was in my boat and I gave him every Yamamoto I had to take with him.
I don't like how expensive they are for like 5% more action. The durability also sucks for the price. Very overhyped bait imho, I've never been able to catch anything with one
For me that’s the ONLY one that I use for wacky style. You say it not a confidence thing, maybe it’s not but for me they’re money. I’ve caught more on them than anything. Texas rig the other ones work fine. A few videos ago you put the Sammy on your not a fan of list. For me…it’s the BEST. Like you said everyone has an opinion and that’s what makes this sport interesting. If it works for you stick with it. A while back Walmart had them for $2-3…. I hoarded them all!! 😂🤣 Thanks as always for sharing your point of view. 🍻🍻
The senko isn’t for everyone…but just stating he hasn’t caught fish with it compared to the thousands he’s caught with other brands just isn’t convincing info to me…like with every lure…to each his own I guess
Every person has a right to their opinion, I personally don't have any senkos, never have bought them for one, they are expensive & the other they are too soft from what the reviews have said, most people they say they are the best is because they sponsored by them, the Yamamoto baits that I have are the hula grubs & they are soft don't hold very long, I'm big on zman, but it would be hard to use them for the Waco rig! Keep telling it like is!👍
Your crazy I have tons of different brands of senko style stick baits and none of them catch bass like the Yamamoto Senko for whatever reason they just work better, now if I’m Texas rigging I will use a Yum Dinger but wacky rigging has to be a Yamamoto senko! But I understand where you’re coming from. But the Googan Lunker log is the closest I’ve found to a Original Senko and they work good but the Max Scent General stick baits are more expensive than Yamamoto senko’s. Also I’m kidding you’re not crazy it’s just your opinion!
Lol yeah I would have to disagree and along with almost every tournament angler I know. The action and fall rate is unmatched. Have wasted alot of money trying new and different stickbaits and none catch fish like the yamamoto senko.
I kinda agree, i like to catch more than 1 or 2 fish on a bait. Yamamoto has great action but tear apart way to easy and way over priced. I take a Yum and use a blade to put a couple slices just past half point on both sides and it has better action. And lasts forever. Everyone has there own so im not dissing the yamamoto, its just not for me. $$$ Tight lines
I watch for your real deal experience. Senko is soft and expensive. And other stuff works so yes you are just calling it like you see it. Should be no heat over this. I have them and use them but I have been just as successful with the other stuff. I still believe its not so much about the bait as it is finding the active fish. Most stuff works when you find them active. Senko is what the advertisers push is the basic deal. I understand the business side and therefore have no problem with it. But agree with you. Keep up your style and presenting experience that you have.
I don't think there's a fisherman alive that doesn't have certain types of lures in their bass fishing arsenal that rarely if ever catch fish. For the longest time I owned and fished with chatter baits, spinners baits and jigs that have never caught a damn thing for me, name brand and generic. After over a year and a half of fishing with my chatter baits I finally caught a bass with one. After that, for some reason I started routinely catching bass with chatter baits. Just last week I got my first hit on a spinner bait. I've been fishing with them since my mid-twenties. I'm 68 years old now and that's how long it took me to finally get a bite on a spinner bait. The Jig is the only bait I have now that I haven't caught a bass with. I've left instructions to my family to throw all my jig baits into the casket with me when they bury me if I haven't caught anything with them before I die. No sense burdening anyone else with them if they don't catch a damn thing.
Hard to beat a z man zinkerz on a very light wacky jighead...as far as weightless & weedless, Yamamoto & bass pro shops...with that said, they all work wacky rigged...weightless & weedless, there are differences
Some people take it personally when you don't like their favorite baits. It's not personal. I'm sure I use a lot of baits that other anglers don't like.
Not one of your better video…I enjoyed your video on the Vega frog…you showed why you had issues…I can’t recall seeing a video of you using the senko…so not credible in my opinion on why you don’t like the senko…maybe shoot a couple of videos using only the senko at your go to lakes …see how it plays out
I think he briefly touches on this point without directly saying it near the beginning. He says he has tried and even though it's not on video, it doesn't discredit his opinion. I will agree with him that the OG senko just isnt for every angler or fish.
Man, you’re just cheap. And that’s your right. But the idea that Senkos aren’t effective is just nonsense. All the other stickbaits on the market are just derivatives of the Senko. One of the things I find disturbing about the fishing culture right now is an ever increasing lack of appreciation for quality, craftsmanship & innovation. People are free to buy whatever lures they want but they’re not entitled to have their facts about them. Your feelings about something are not facts. Just feelings.
What's your favorite soft plastic stickbait?
Ocho and Dinger. Really love the BioSpawn plasma tail for Neko and drop shot.
Bass pro brand or Strike Kings
Yum dinger without question

Me likes Yamamoto's fine. They sink a little faster than most and shimmy a little bit more and sometimes that helps. They are prolly among the best for wacky rigs. But I try to fish on a budget and they aren't a budget bait. And watching them get tossed by a shaking bass is painful.
Watching a bass sling a bait is always kind of a bummer.
I get that but you shot down the Vega frog showing how you couldn’t hook the bass…to solidify your point…maybe a head to head vid with senko vs your fav stick bait…I’d watch it
I never tried them because of the price. I'm sure they are great but I can buy a 30 pk of Yum dingers for almost the same price.
Price is a big issue with a lot of anglers.
I have to agree with you,I catch fish on senkos. But the yum dingers catch me more fish.
Thanks so much for watchingl
I haven't tried every knock offs but i think the senko is the best! It has a better shimmy and sinks at a better rate its softer, slightly heavier and more salt. Never had much luck with the knock offs just saying...
Thanks for watching!

They never worked well for me. Other guys love them, but they aren't a worm I have much faith in.
The 297 is bass juice. But I catch them even on Zman stick bait
Thanks for watching!
The company that bought Yamamoto baits changed the recipe, they are lighter than the original ones, more profit
Most companies change their recipes over time. They almost never mentions though.
Most of my catches are on worm baits , lot of them being sanko
Use what works for you!
They, of all the senkos, they catch a fish when nothing else will. But they cost about 50% too much. Wacky rig to load the boat
Thanks for sharing!
Lowbrow I’m like you I rather spend my money on yum or cream I can get 2 or 3 packs if not more than I can getting the expensive stick baits
They catch fish just fine!
I like yum dinger, tiki stiks and senkos .Not all brands carry the same colors .
Use what you have confidence in!
I don't like how expensive they are for like 5% more action. The durability also sucks for the price. Very overhyped bait imho, I've never been able to catch anything with one
Price is very important to a lot of angler!
When u can get 2 yum for the price of 1 yama..
Yum dingers are much cheaper for sure!
Fish what you have confidence in. It's perfectly okay to like something that someone else thinks is junk.
I never really used senkos much. I really can't say either way. But h20 plastics work great for me and they're cheap
Those Academy brand baits work great!
Sorry but the 6 sense glide baits are no where are good as the chad shads
The cutting and jerking of the chad shad is unmatched with 6 sense glides
Thanks for watching!
Was that a video at Ashe nursery?
The senko isn’t for everyone…but just stating he hasn’t caught fish with it compared to the thousands he’s caught with other brands just isn’t convincing info to me…like with every lure…to each his own I guess
Every person has a right to their opinion, I personally don't have any senkos, never have bought them for one, they are expensive & the other they are too soft from what the reviews have said, most people they say they are the best is because they sponsored by them, the Yamamoto baits that I have are the hula grubs & they are soft don't hold very long, I'm big on zman, but it would be hard to use them for the Waco rig! Keep telling it like is!👍
Use the baits you have confidence in!
Thanks for watching!
Lol yeah I would have to disagree and along with almost every tournament angler I know. The action and fall rate is unmatched. Have wasted alot of money trying new and different stickbaits and none catch fish like the yamamoto senko.
Use what works for you!
Thanks for watching!
Agreed. Unless they’re in an end of season bargain bin I go with dingers
I appreciate you watching!
I agree 100% with you, and for the same reasons.
Thanks so much for watching!
I use BPS Stik-o and Yum Dingers. I never bought a Senko. I rather get alot more for less money!
Getting something that does the same job but for less money is usually a good idea!
They are like googan baits. Way too soft. When you hook the bait weightless and cast it tears in two. Unacceptable!
A lot of anglers prefer a stiffer plastic. Nothing wrong with that!
Send them to me don’t like em I’ll fish with em
Haha!
I agree, I would rather use yum or strike King.
Thanks so much for watching!
Great video, I like all brands of worms for sure. Gary Yamamoto is the best . My opinion and always have a senko tied on.
Thanks for watching!
Great video! It's okay to go your own way and use what you like!
Exactly!
Thanks! I appreciate you watching!
You are absolutely right! It can take a long time. That's why it pays to be persistent.
Thankfully my yum dingers are always in stock in the bargain bins at the closest wal mart.
Nice!
You getting your palm greased by Gary's competition? 😅
What, I can't have a different opinion? All the people who commented on this video are also on the take?
@@LowBrowFishing Senkos are a desperation bait for me, when nothing else is working, they seem to come through.
I catch more fish on 20 cent kastmasters than literally anything else 😂
Just because it's cheap doesn't mean it won't work!
@@LowBrowFishing caught a couple nice like on it last night actually…. So satisfying when a fish takes your bait on the drop
The wave worm tiki stick
I haven't used those. I need to look them up!
@@LowBrowFishing yes sir
They are as soft as the yamamoto senko .but imo they have more of a shimmy on the fall
I don’t like them either, I do better on yum! A lot tougher, Gary Yamamoto has to much salt, too weak
A lot of anglers feel the same way!
Hard to beat a z man zinkerz on a very light wacky jighead...as far as weightless & weedless, Yamamoto & bass pro shops...with that said, they all work wacky rigged...weightless & weedless, there are differences
Use what you have confidence in!
I call them the one fish wonder.
I can understand why!
My heavens ...😂😂you insulted one of America's favorite baits
Some people take it personally when you don't like their favorite baits. It's not personal. I'm sure I use a lot of baits that other anglers don't like.
So what are you exactly saying? For 11 minutes you are just regurgitating absolutely nothing, 0 substance to this video . . .
Thanks for watching!
Your spot on
Thanks!
Fair enough. But in my defense, this video was years in the making and nobody wants to see footage of me not catching fish.
If it doesn't catch fish then it's just a waste of money. Yum dingers for the win!
I waste a lot of money on fishing gear, lol!
Never used them
Thanks for watching!
They're a ripoff , they make them super soft so you have to keep buying more,Yum are much better
Dingers are good worms!
Yum Dingers are King for me !!
That's awesome!
You can send me the Yamamoto senkos.
I hoard all the baits! Even ones that didn't work for me. I have a tackle addiction.
@@LowBrowFishing I understand that
Hahahaha Senko's do suck.... I like Yum's.
Go with what works for you!
Waste of time 👎
Senkos are here to stay and Yamamoto are the best
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching!
whoa shots fired 😮
I don't mean anything bad against Yamamoto baits. I just feel the senko is overrated.
