That pirate hat just lightens the mood. We watched this in class while doing handbells, and not even half a semester later we watched Phantom of the Opera! It’s one of my FAVORITE movies now! Summer break boredom has forced me to watch it 9 times in two days-
Thank you so much for posting this most remarkable performance! Congratulations to each member in the group for the concentrated hard work, but especially for the commitment over time. It really paid of here. Again, Thank You!!!!
I've been playing handbells for 11 years. It took me 3 years to fully master them, they aren't all that hard to accomplish. Stick with it! There aren't many bell choirs out there anymore sadly.
Just takes practice and dedication. I've been playing 17 years, takes a few years to really get comfortable and master all the techniques. From there you just keep improving, It was about 5-6 years before I was playing at the level of these guys, and the only reason I got there that fast was because I had one of the top bell directors in the world as my instructor. Just keep at it!
bronxbomber252 I played in my schools handbell choir once back in Grade 4. It was actually really fun. Wish I would have picked something other than the 2 highest notes though. Didn't get to play a lot of anything.
Everyone has it in them. I'm 16 and started 10 years ago in a handchimers program for kids and now I'm ringing at events like Bay View: Week of Handbells, I play Level 6 music for fun (William Griffin's arrangement of Handel's "Passacaglia" from the Seventh Suite is the most fun you will have on bass bells...), and I am getting some pieces published! Just remember it is always about having fun, and producing a good sound. Just have fun with it, try harder than you thought you could, and push on! Handbells really are an amazing instrument. I study piano preformance, but I still consider handbells to be my primary instrument. They are amazing. In my opinion, they are the most fun you'll have with music. They are so much more than just "bells". Have fun! Be passionate about it! And then, you will go places :)
I wish the music had soul. Technically it's excellent. But they practice for hours & hours daily...it's a paid job. Most handbell groups play for the joy of it. We may not be perfect. But it's not the end of the world if we make a mistake. We just try not to. Sadly I get the feeling that these poor kids are just trying to get it right and not end up somewhere in a gulag North Korea for god sake.

It sounded a little like they were using the organ at the end. Or something besides bells, chimes, percussion, and piano. Anyone know what that was?
