Easy Set Up for Afternoon Tea at Home

- It was my friend's birthday so I set up a quiet Afternoon Tea at home for her and her sister. I put together a traditional afternoon tea with cucumber, tuna and egg salad sandwiches but added orzo salad. We also had the typical desserts like petit fours, fruit tarts, lemon bars, and scones. My daughter made the scones, strawberry jam, lemon curd. I did have to add mini cannolis. It was scrumptious and a nice way to celebrate my friendship.

I'm a baker, so I would probably make home made petit fours, and those lovely looking lemon bars and petite cream puffs. There's something very appetizing about the egg salad with the contrast of the darker bread that you are showing. It's all very well put together!

How fun! I love collecting teapots as well, my favorite are the Asian styled ones. Might I suggest trying a solid white tablecloth and white plates so that the beautiful tea pot and tea cups really stand out.
That's a good style idea. I have done tea parties with a white tablecloth and plates. I think I was feeling color explosion this time around lol. I do not have a good Japanese teapot. I am going to save up for one.

It's one of my favorite things to do in the world. I had tea in Stratford-Upon-Avon a few years ago on an absolutely gorgeous summer afternoon. I keep telling myself to do this more...on an even simpler scale just for me to enjoy. I love England!

Yes it was! I am lucky that my daughter likes to bake the scones and make the homemade jam and lemon curd. She is planning to learn how to make clotted cream, which I absolutely love. It is hard to find here...a good one at least, that is fresh. Thank you for the kind compliment!

This is absolutely gorgeous! The photography is beautiful. I want to have a tea party with my granddaughters (11 and 13) once we get over this corona virus. We went to London years ago and had tea at Harrod's and it was something I still remember today. That was a lot of work setting it up but I'm sure your friends appreciated it. Thank you! Just lovely.

The third layer is to place small sandwiches and mini burgers, the second layer is to place scones and assorted cookies, the first tier is to place the fruit tarts. Like this?

This is work. But I actually enjoy this. And of course, I do the occasional going to the tea rooms.

Exactly. I take my time. It usually takes me 2-3 days to wash, dry, put everything back. I will put everything in the sink. Wash today or the next day. Then the next day, spot dry. Put everything back. Yes, I leave the dirty dishes in the sink because I am usually tired from all the set up!
