Really great review. I've now clocked 1700 miles on my Pursuit Limited premium pkg. I added the Pinnacle mirrors, reduced reach bars, backrest and saddlebag lights. This is a fantastic machine ! Over the last 1-1/2 years, I've owned a 2021 Goldwing Tour DCT and a 2022 Indian Roadmaster Ltd. The Pursuit is more fun and more comfortable to ride than either of those bikes. I'm averaging 46 mpg which isn't bad for a 900+ lb bike.
I’m a Harley guy for life but I certainly recognize the things that Indian is doing. My hope is that it pushes H-D in the right direction. I think it has pushed them they’re just always super slow and deliberate about what they do. For example the new FXLRST H-D could have put that out probably 3 years ago but just took their sweet time.
I gotta ask why are you such a die hard HD guy? I purchased the 22 lowrider ST and I feel like I just spent 25k on a lawn ornament Love the performance, style, and color But I’ve had several issues with my ST and my local HD dealership The way I see it I’ll be 30 into my ST and for another 12k I could have gotten the Indian pursuit with every option imaginable My ST is my first Harley but 3rd motorcycle My first 2 were a lot older and i never had one issue other then normal wear and tare Had the ST for less then 3 months and I’m already considering getting rid of it So I’m curious why Harleys are so popular and why Indians are just as nice for half the price??
@@bradbucklin2692 I grew up in a Harley household, you could say I’m a little bit brainwashed. With that being said I’ve got a dyna I’ve put 100K miles on and it’s still going strong. I’ve also got a Road glide Special that I’ve put 35k miles on with no problems. Not everyone has the same experiences I get that. Also Indian isn’t cheap either, Harley get tagged as being over priced but they aren’t the only ones in my opinion. Check to see if Lemon Laws apply to your bike, there’s sometimes such that as a vehicle “made on a Friday.” I had a friend with a BMW GS 1200 that was just a problem child bike.
It is a shame you are stuck on a brand name. I was in that position and stepped away and Thank God I did!! It opens up so many doors when you walk away from Harley.
Had two HD’s most recently 2019 RG. Needed a liquid cooled bike. Rode the Pursuit and the Goldwing. Ended up choosing the Goldwing. I’m really happy with it. Perhaps HD will throw the ThunderMax engine on a bagger.
Great post Dan...Your opinion as an average, thirty-nine resonates as honest and objective...we'll done! I own a 2020 Darkhorse, and considering the challenger....be safe...
Been on a Roadmaster since 2019, still has stock seat and stock handle bars on it. That’s says everything, fact that no upgrades are needed to make an already expensive bike comfortable for the rider!
You look at bikes the way I do...fun factor but also functionality. I bought my '18 heritage based on that and it's been a great bike. Tried out a challenger last fall and it was nice. I imagine the lowers and top case of the pursuit will add that much more. I was wanting a more comfortable ride with all the functionality but being 5'7 and 150lbs didn't want to maneuver a 900 plus bike. I ended up going with a bmw r1250rt. 615lbs, great suspension, 10.25 tft screen is amazing and I feel is better than indian. With the topcase it's a blast to ride. Something you might want to consider. It's heads and shoulders above the heritage and I really was hesitant jumping hd ship but no regrets. It has more storage, more powerful and the ride is so smooth. Even after putting on legend shocks the heritage doesn't come close. And like you said the adjustable wind screen is a game changer.
Great video, great bike. Am getting one. Have a 22 Chief Bobber Dark Horse and love it! However, I need storage and a bit more comfort. So this is definitely the bike. Way to go Indian!
Had a heritage classic 114 and took that to Sturgis last year. I then realized that in needed a full touring bike and went with the challenger. Couldn’t be happier. Too bad I didn’t know you guys were here in Temecula… I’m 5 mins away from that winery…
Nice review! I wanted to see what types of baggers Indian was producing. I got a chance to test ride the Chieftain Roadmaster Challenger and Pursuit. I was thoroughly surprised on how these motorcycles performed. I’m currently riding a 2015 Ultra Classic Low and the Indian in my opinion outperformed the HD in ride quality. Of the Indians I test rode the Pursuit stood out. I’ve been looking at baggers without the trunk because i can feel a difference in handling compared to my wife’s 2015 Street Glide Special. The Challenger and Pursuit handled the same to me which was a big plus. I now have to test ride a ‘22 Road Glide limited to her a true comparison Until then the Indian has my vote for next American bagger to purchase. ✌🏾
My plan is to get the Challenger. Just because I don’t need the trunk. I feel like if I were to buy such a bike as the Pursuit, I’d take the trunk off. The trunk wouldn’t really be on the bike, so why not just get the Challenger is my thought🤔. I’ll figure it out once the time gets closer for me to grab one. I’m from California. I now live in Florida. They have SO many nice roads I’d love to ride on. Can’t wait. I’am trying to own two bikes one day. One to ride around town, the other one for long distance.
Thx for the awesome review! I've got a 2017 Scout 60 that Uve had for a year. I love it but, like you, I need more space. I also want to tour around Europe from here in Portugal. I'm certain this is the one to do it on. Unfortunately, the color selection isn't as varied as in the states, but I'm sure I'll find the color I like.
Looked nice and I am sure it was nice to ride. I am like you when it comes to the Around town riding, I would go with a electric and have the Tri Glide for my longer rides. But you know me I won’t come of the HD. 👍 video Good to see you out in the mix. I am interested in the F150 and look forward to your update in the future.
I test rode the Indian challenger and roadmaster limited in 21. Was really leaning towards the roadmaster limited. Test rode the HD ultra limited and roadglide limited. Ended up with the 21 roadglide limited. That was before the pursuit came out. Really like my glide but I wish indian would have came out with this sooner. And good luck getting one or any new bagger right now.
That adjustable windshield is just another problem down the road. I have been riding touring bikes for 15 years and not one time can I remember wishing I had a taller or shorter windshield
Great Review. If I wouldn't loose so much on my Chieftain, I would trade it in for a Pursuit right now. I want the extra storage and would love to go to a liquid cooled bike as the 116 is a hot beast. I thought i would have seen you rocking the Ruroc, but I understand why not.
6:49 You started talking about how you need to look presentable for your job, and not look like a biker even though you are a real biker, and not have hair that looks like you've been wearing a helmet all day. And I couldn't help but laugh. I too am a "real biker" and I look every bit of it. And what do I do for a living? I ride motorcycles all day doing testing and demonstration riding. I ride to work. I ride at work. I ride home from work. And I do this the entire year. Every year. For over 20 years. Rain, snow, heat, floods, earthquakes, locust invasion, I will be out there riding. And yes, I have helmet hair 24 hours a day. I totally understand what you are saying and you are correct - not all employers or professionals want their people looking like they just stepped out of Easy Rider magazine or off a MotoGP track, but some of us are lucky enough to do exactly that. By the way, I just bought the Indian Pursuit Limited Premium a few days ago and I love it. I got it for long cruises and sight seeing but since it handles so much better than you might think a big bike might handle, I am making it my daily commuter.
Certainly you know that there’s a rear bag available for your Heritage, that would give you considerably more storage capacity. A fairer comparison would be the Road Glide to the Indian, with the tour pack on the Road Glide. Harley does need to incorporate ride modes into their touring models. I suspect HD will come out with a touring platform with their Revolution Max motor within next couple of years, if not sooner.
Yeah I know there is a truck available for the heritage but I hate the way it looks on the bike. It was a bit of a design failure and the few people I know who have it say it’s not built very well either.
Great review. I am looking to buy my nexk bike in april 2025. I have eliminated HD and BMW. It is down to the pursuit and goldwing Dicision time is approaching.
I just made a decision between a 2024 GoldWing Tour DCT and a 2023 Indian Pursuit Dark Horse Icon Premium. I’ve owned a 2018 DCT and put 22k on that bike and I have a 2022 Indian Challenger that also has 22k on so I’m pretty well versed with both platforms. You will not go wrong with either bike. My decision was made by the fact that I still have all of the extras on the Challenger that I’ll be able to put on the Pursuit saving me thousands of dollars. I also like the idea of buying an American made product. I also liked the idea of the “soul” of the Pursuit over the GoldWing’s super smooth engine. The Pursuit has more compliant suspension vs the latest generation Wing. I like the idea of being able to pop the tour pack off thus changing the looks of the bike. The ride command is more customizable menu. The saddlebag space is much bigger on the Pursuit AND the bags are top loading vs side loading on the Wing. Removal of the Wing tour pack can be done but it would be much harder and more expensive to do. I loved both bikes but ultimately it was the Pursuit that checked all the boxes over the Wing. Good luck in your decision.
I just came off 40 years of Gold Wings 1200,1500 and of course 1800 and the most recent a 2018 DCT. They had all been bullet proof with no issues ever. I moved to a Pursuit for a different riding position and something different. No regrets at all - the ride is awesome, ride better than my 2018, the riding position is also great. Plus the bike looks great…. Good luck in your choice
