Alex’s comfort zone is identical to a Mezzo Soprano. Some people are just born to do what they do!
Ok Alex is def not a Mezzo Soprano, their voice is as Soprano-like as one could be. No Mezzo Soprano can go that high in chest voice (above E5- Mezzo's secondo passagio) and still retain that much tonal quality and density. And that's not mentioning the fact that they sound extremely bright and light throughout the range
had the good fortune to witness this live on broadway a few weeks back and OMG it was a real treat. this song wasn't just a lyrical and musical highlight of the show, but the performance was also testament to their unparalleled vocal gifts. hope they snag the tony and also go on to do even more stellar work.
To me the live version is even more mind blowing
I remember see Alex on the glee project way back in the day, they were always incredible but their talent and range has grown fantastically. They’re so talented and hard working!
What you said about a run leading to the high note is so true.
OMG, thank you for introducing me to this singer. I’ve never heard of Alex Newell until today and I’ve been playing this song on repeat.
They are extremely talented!!!
I learnt about them from Once on this island. They were incredibleee in that too
Saw the show on Broadway it’s fantastic. Alex Newell really steals the show. Independently owned got a standing ovation even on a Sunday afternoon
This song is the first time I ever heard anyone ever sing anything that I think rivals "And I am telling you..."
You know what? You are right! I saw Jennifer Holiday perform it on Broadway and the house was brought down! Goosebumps!
Alex did the same thing with this performance. The Tony was well deserved ❤
Aiaty is still top
Can’t wait to see this analysis! He was on The Voice a few days ago, and he was amazing!
Wasnt the performance incorporated in this video?
They/them is Alex's preferred pronouns.
@@CeliniacForLife He's uses any pronouns. So, no.
I love Alex a lot!! I was shocked when I first heard this song cause that range, the orchestra, the sustained notes, everything was perfect.
And the dramatic effect of the scales is amazing. They really thought in everything
Alex knows what to do.
The Tony's must have Alex perform this. And to give her A Tony... And a Grammy too. ❤
i was honestly afraid to watch this in case of misgendering, but can i just say as a nonbinary person how much i appreciate you not using any set pronouns to address alex! tysm for your work
Alex uses all pronouns. Unless you're just making something up - every pronoun is fine.
@@msanjelica i wasn't making anything up but thank you for telling me this
A brilliant analysis and of course, amazing singing from Alex ❤❤❤❤

This is still my favorite Alex Newell video, the ending high note is insane. ua-cam.com/video/V5m8rQzJXjQ/v-deo.html
He's a male soprano!
This cannot be allowed to continue!! She’s making us look bad.
Cause she’s talented??
How? Wtf are you talking about?
@@bmwjourdandunngoddess6024 I think the OP's comment was meant as a compliment.
Is Alex a man or woman ? because people call them a male vocalist but they look like a woman to me .
Doesn't really matter because they are a great vocalist but I'm curious someone please tell me
He's a gay man
I think they go by they/them?
Alex identifies as gender nonconforming, they use all pronouns
@@adah6759 Alex isn't. Alex is non-binary so their preferred pronouns is they/them.
