    I bought the ef note 7 because it resembles my live smaller acoustic kit ,so 20 kick 11 Tom 15 Floor Tom 14 snare 20” ride 18 crash 14 hi hats very happy with it had the Roland rd17 before alway fiddling with sounds,the purpose of ef note is just play and practice with great acoustic drum kit sounds without keep tweaking those horrible in yr face Roland sounds,if you want just acoustic drum sounds just buy an ef note if you want electronic sounds buy a roland or just get an spdsx pad on the side,ef note is the closest and best for home practice but I’d always use real acoustic drums for live

    Wow innovative in ekits. It would be go to even though not small vs acoustic setup. I still reluctant on ekit because all module talk is over my head. I need Ren to come over and say "you can play now" :D

    Thanks for your nice video! So, in order for the side stick to work properly, you can’t adjust the tension of mesh head? And it needs to be tight? If yes, then it’s definitely a deal breaker. And foot splash doesn’t work too…

    • @stalj
      @stalj  Місяць тому +1

      Most welcome! You can adjust the tension, but it does need to be moderately tight at least for the two lugs where the side stick trigger attaches. Wouldn't say very tight (nowhere near reso head tightness for example), in fact now that I compare it's got more give than my usual snare batter tightness and still works. The foot splash is a bit of a let-down though it's also possible I just haven't figured out how to get it to cooperate - will update if I do in future!

    I've ordered this kit yesterday. CANT WAIT to get it!!! question... Do you think I need 2 crashes? or would it be possible to use the ride and crash similar sound to hitting 2 crashes? (I have a cheaper electric set now and the ride can only produce a ting/bell sound) so i've added an extra crash but with this Efnote kit im thinking maybe its enough to have one crash and one ride to hit together for extra louder crash sound? (hope this makes sense).

    • @stalj
      @stalj  Місяць тому

      Sweet!! Personally I'm fine with using it as is without the extra crash. Four out of the five ride samples have a washy enough edge that they can pass for a low toned crash (all except the heavy) - the zil 22" dark ride and sabian 21" groove ride are the nicer ones in my opinion. Alternatively you can also program the little splash to an extra crash sound! I'm using the groove ride and a 17" china mapped to the splash and haven't felt any need for an extra crash pad whatsoever. Hope that helps and enjoy your new kit 😁😁

    Nice, tomorrow I am going to try out some drum sets in a music center near me. I'm looking into the Roland VAD507, Pearl e/merge and now I know they have one and have seen this.. the EFnote 5 :)

      I would want to! They are in for playing in church. We do not have a massive hall but a rather small one I would say. (250/300 max people can fit in) Our current acoustic set is just too loud for the space. We tried the Roland VAD507 I think..? The e/merge from Pearl and the EFnote5. Hands down, the EFNote5 really blew the others away in terms of being so spot on in feeling and sound. The cymbals were just amazingly accurate. So amazing that I find it strange how other brands haven't used this type of technology. The downsides of the EFNote were that they were very small, so esthetically less pleasing for some that tagged along trying them out and that it has just a single stereo output, which was a no-go in the first place. So we ended up with the Pearl, also a very, very nice set with a lot of cool features! If I was to choose one for myself, I would definitely pick the EFNote! Maybe when I saved up some money. For now, I'll have to do with my rubber pad e drum at home, which is also fine for simple practice I guess😅

      @stalj  Місяць тому

      @@harm285 hang on, that was the 5? The analog output for this one does split into four (so you can separate kick, snare, cymbals and toms at least for better EQ and control purposes) though there's some other models which have more of a standard kit size and a huge snake for more outputs than you could shake two sticks at. Lol. But if you've already gotten the Pearl hope that works well for you all! It is definitely a good idea for a smaller untreated space. And maybe you can get one someday 😁

    • @harm285
      @harm285 Місяць тому

      Ooh wow, really? I just say Stereo L and R coming out of the snake, but there were so many cables I may have overlooked it😅 Still, our technical guy is a real sound nerd, in a good way, and he had the strong opinion that 8 was the minimum. Although money is not out of the door yet, I do not think I can convince everyone of changing their minds 😂 Nothing to complain about though, both sets are brilliant

      I have the donner ded-200 $400 on ebay. It's amazing and I play every night. Best financial/musical decision of my life! I didn't even think I could drum. I wanted a handpan but those are $1600 for a tuned good one. I'm extremely good at drums now and never thought it possible 🤔
