I really enjoy watching a craftsman at work and you certainly are one Justin! Its so unfortunate that our society has gotten dependent on mass produced junk that doesn't last anytime. The old craftsman took their blood, sweat, tears, and time to make something that could be passed down through the generations. I hope everyone that gets one of your knives appreciates the effort you put into them!
How much do you charge for a knife? My husband would love one. He watches you all the time.
These are $150 shipped with a sheath
I know it's going to be good I'll have to watch later I'm working on a fillet knife myself need one longer them six ins blades won't go across a 15 lb blue cat
I don't use facebook. What's the cost for that one. Thanks enjoy your videos.
Hello are you able to link the opening music. Would like to know artist and name of song, thanks! Watch every video you put out
Hey Justin! That blade sure hits the "Sweet Spot" on usefulness! There are just somethings that call for a large Bowie... and a small Patch Knife has it's advantages when needed. But... for "All 'Round" requirements... "Jonah" fits the bill! Well Done! (And the sheath is pretty cool too!) Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha! Take Care and I'll see you down the Trail!
I always liked this French Trade Knife style best. With a blade shape like this, a good ax, and a good pocket knife, you can do just about anything you wanna do.
That turned out beautiful. Each one is one of a kind. Way better knife than you can buy thats store bought. Good job. That forge is hot and hammering out knives is a lot of work. People don't realize how much work goes into them until you do it yourself. I converted a wen 6.5 ton woodsplitter into a forge press. It takes a lot of the hammering work out of it. If you are going to be building a lot to sale you might want to think about getting one. They work really well.
Good work Justin very nice
Cool to see you ise saw blade also... not sure if you lnow or not but you get better carbon steel from blades without the carbide inserts... i have a bunch of 12. Or is it 14 inch blades to work with and still gathering... good luck and loooking awesome 👌
These are perfect. They are 62 rockwell
Doing that kind of work allows you to relax and get in your bubble... oh. When I do my sheaths I leave a small gap at the point to allow for drainage.. am referring to the spacer pcs. Love your work 😊
Mighty fine job there Justin. Folks should be happy with to have one those on thier sides. Good all around knife. I know you enjoy building them too. It shows 👍
Good video, nice knife, mellow music.
Wow very nice wish I could afford one
The Spirit of the Outdoors “Jonah” knife is an excellent all purpose fixed blade. Justin Peden has presented an excellent demonstration of the craftsmanship that he puts into these knife projects. Basically, from start to finish on crafting a very useful knife and a leather sheath to go with it. Back in April 2023, Justin crafted a “Jonah” knife and leather sheath for me. It has black walnut handle scales. This knife has become my constant companion in the woods and around the homestead. Sharp and cuts every time I ask it to. This is an excellent tool around a campfire, from preparing kindling to food prep. Justin also hand crafted a leather pancake cross draw sheath for this knife. I am one satisfied customer. - Tennessee Smoky
Thank you Smoky. Im glad you are still liking it.
Ya can't beat a good knife.
What metal did you make the rivets out of please?
Nice project

Brass 1/8 brazing rod
Üstat bıçağı yağ taşında bilerek elini kesebilirsin bileme taşına bir aparat yaparsan daha güvenli olur bence.
ABSOLUTELY AWSOME JOB my brother knife and sheath done with
basic machinery tools and a talented craftsman 👍👍👍👍👍
B PROUD Brother B PROUD

wetting the leather will help with the dying prosses. and use less dye.
It will effect the look have too
Y’all should check out JONAH CAINs midget forge . Jonah is a kid trained by Hershel house . He makes killer knives
I will still make a blade if i need it. I found that unless you have got the equipment or money to buy the equipment its just not worth the pain at my age and physical condition. Ive got about any knid of blade shape and size made by Case, Buck, BK&T, and probably my most used Ontario Knife Co. There are a few others out there but they cover an extremely broad field of shapes and sizes. I have a couple of patterns that nobody has and i still make a knife or two and i have a few tool blade designs that i also make. Most are heavy use knives and tools used mosty clearing around farm and field.
Outstanding video buddy!
Great video!
Like your fishing, squirrel hunting with Roscoe, and garden, chickens, and cooking too
That is one good-looking knife and sheath l. I have a knife similar to that. I would add that to my collection if I could. I would like to make one as well. Thanks for sharing, and god bless
If you need some beautiful leather. Try American leather in Bowling Green KY. I just found them last yr
People don't realize the amount of work it takes to make a knife like that. That's why they don't come cheap. Thanks for showing how you do it. I like that shirt in the first part of the video.
I like that shirt myself. Lot of time goes in fhem knives
@@SpiritoftheOutdoors Yep it sure does.
Very nice brother

What part of Mississippi do you reside in.
My Dad is from the Yazoo City area.

Im in neshoba county around Philadelphia. This is a Tenryu saw blade that is already a 62 rockwell so i grind slow and dont have to treat it. It is a 5 inch blade 9 inches overall
Excellent.......all the way through...........
I want to see a traditional frontiersman knife made

How do you temper the knives?
These i dont have too
Ive been carrying one on my side made this way for several years to prove it
Thanks brother, fine knives for every day carry.
Jonah who
Nice knife brother. Would love to have the time to get one from you. God has abandoned me, just like my family. My mom and dad are long gone, they were the only ones who excepted me for who I was and loved me unconditionally. Time for me to leave this world behind, going to live in the woods for what time I have left. You will always be in my memory as a fellow hunter, fisherman, and woodsman.
God will never abandon you. Family will true friends won't. Sometimes when you are going through tough times it feels that way. When you make it through them it makes you a better person. God is always with you. Read Jobe in the Bible. The woods is the best place to find him and talk to him. Praying for you brother.
God may test your resolve but hes never left you. If hes not near, you left him. A simple conversation with him will get his attention. Your listening to the wrong voices in your head . I been there my friend you can get through this
@@SpiritoftheOutdoors I've prayed and begged for over 2 months brother, no answers and no help. My body and mind are worn out.
Richard I will pray for you . Don't give up . Jesus Christ is the answer ✝️
Richard, open up your bible and just start reading. Or listen to a book of the Bible on UA-cam.
I'm thinking of making one from an old file. Just need a belt sander. That would be ideal.
Simple and beautiful. Great job, Justin
Where are you from?
Mississippi
