Sure, I always put a fresh coat of white paint on my evaporator every year! Covers up the dirt!
What a profound level of no maintenance all around. Amazing it works at all.
Probably a rental….tenants don’t maintain anything and the landlords typically don’t care until they’re getting complaints that it’s not working…a tenant wouldn’t know what to do but to call the landlord…home owners…are either used to being able to call the dude who does that sort of thing…if it’s a single female obviously not all of them know or care what it takes to have ac…. As long as it’s working…this concept is also why I’m picky about the used vehicles I buy lol….hearing more and more men saying doesn’t it come with oil? lol…yeah…even the guys are like that nowadays
I can’t live an hour with a beeping smoke detector! Have to change it even in the middle of the night. How these people ignore it is mind boggling.
They Probably don't know what it is, or WHY it's beeping.
I wonder what their home owner's insurance would say when you're supposed to TEST the damn thing every week or two weeks!
If thy are elderly, they might no even hear it. I had to buy special ones because most are high pitched and they're beyond my hearing range. My cat can hear it fine, as if one goes off she runs under the bed.
Free snake jerky! That's some bonus! LOL!
The solid green led on probe indicates it is in "Data logging mode" JL3PC Manual states "Remote Data Logging" Step# 3 Press PWR for 5 seconds to enter data logging mode. The LED will shine solid green. Cycle off for reset... Good video> Thank You...
Back to normal, a beeping smoke detector
I swear there’s like a smoke detector battery shortage in Georgia!!!
@@PlumberDit’s because it’s all black people.
@@PlumberD In Florida and Connecticut too!! 😅
I will change their batteries if I notice it when I'm on a service call. I lost some friends in a house fire because they didn't have functional smoke alarms.
@@Bryan-Hensley pretty much here all rentals have to be hardwired so it’s not common to here that beep
You should add smoke detector battery change out. A quick 20 bucks
Wow, that was one crispy critter!
Thanks Curtis, we shal wait for the replacement job 👍Au
Great job Curtis you get your share of Cristy critters glad you got the job and again thanks for the video
You Sir are a Georgia HVAC SUPER STAR
Blower wheel choked with dirt too! Guess they only use a filter occasionally!
HVAC Guy should change his name to Smoke Alarm Low Battery Guy 🤣
I would blame it on the "high value homes and areas" he's servicing, but, I have been in high end to multi-million dollar homes with "CHIRP CHIRP CHIRP", yep, same stupidity all over the place. sometimes it's end of life CO detectors beeping and they've actually changed the batteries.
Hey more respect for Curtis; he works very hard for his money! Lot of his work I believe comes from warranty companies and they are hard to deal with!
I’ve seen the same thing on a heat pump pull fuse…they put a piece of copper in the place of the fuse and a little snake was coiled up around it fried…lol…that freaked me out! Lol
I dread the day I find a live snake in a unit
I work on hot tubs and I see snake skins in anything older than 5 years. I'd says the snakes are coiled up in the corner about 20 percent fo the time. 5 percent staring you in the face. And 75 no where to be found. I'm talking 6ft skins.
I went on a call last summer (Customer Reported, Fan Not Turning) I get there and there was a huge "rat snake' wrapped around the condenser fan motor, cut up in a few places, it was nasty
Crispy snake, I'm surprised it didn't short something out. That evaporator did look clogged up and the blower was filthy. That's going to be a fun one, glad you got the job.
Could’ve done a pressure drop test across the coil. That would’ve answered that question
@@SickaMorStyle indeed
old Hissy and other rodents generally cannot carry enough current to trip a breaker/open a fuse, but could damage the conductor/terminal it's receiving power from.
@@throttlebottle5906 I've seen lizards short out things many times. I have even seen ants short out a compressor.
I bet the dirty blower wheel cut the air flow by 40 or 50%.-
Since you use Klein ''Snake Removal'' pliers , I bet Knipex will come out with their version Good vid as usual Curt ... Thx
Perhaps simply cleaning the blower assembly and pulling the coil to clean. Clean the outside coils as well and then give it another try. Wasn't that far off (SC). A good cleaning. Obviously the return air filter was all wrong. Also, give them a lesson on how to change filters and what size to get as well. Let it cool the rest of the summer. If it's failing towards fall, you gave it a college try before simply replacing the equipment which any one year wonder parts changer can do.
What a shocking turn of events
I Swear I Hear the Chirping at the Outdoor Unit so obviously the Customer has the Windows Open. 😬👍
Amazing isn't it. So many calls with the chirping. How do they stand it?That is some serious lazy folks out there.
The back door was open. The air handler was just inside so he left the door open while going back and forth.
Can't wait to see a evaporator coil vidioe I just helped do one today 😊😊😊
Nice work Curtis.
Thanks!
New drinking game, take one shot everytime the smoke detector beeps
Looks like they put the covers on backwards (vented should be on bottom). And yet another chirping fire alarm.
Covers were correct, filter was in the wrong spot. It's a down flow unit, pulling in air up top across the coil, down through the blower into the ducts below.
When you are talking about a Heat Pump which coil is the evaporator and which is the condenser? Also was that a 120 volt snake or a 220 volt snake? Man! What a discovery. You always keep it interesting.
Terminology, eh? Indoor coil, outdoor coil.
Nice 👍🏼 job 😊
No charge for snake removal. 😅
You need to carry around a pack of 9 volts with you.
Was the filter in the wrong spot on this?would appear to me that this is a down flow unit. The solid door on bottom appears correct and the louver door above seem right as it would draw from there to pull over the coil and down through the fan into the supply duct. But the filter should be behind the door with louvers not behind a solid door that encloses the motor housing. 👍👍🇨🇦
Yes, it was
Good video 😀
Thanks 😁
😊
after that high quality paint job, do you think they have enough to spend on a new evaporator?
Wait to you get to an outdoor unit with a big sand lizard between coil & the casing.
Hey Curtis, how are you finding your correct SH without using a Psychrometer? Outdoor dry bulb vs Indoor wet bulb
Are heat pumps different? When you have a TXV, it’s SC that is the concern. SH is for no TXV
It was a liquid line restriction and he’s replacing the evap. lol
It was either the TXV or the filter dryer for those numbers
Snake was trying to stay warm
He succeeded temporarily.
👍👍👍
Charge was obviously low. If txv was stopped up suction pressure would get no wher near the 88 psi you had showing through measure quick.
I would not be scared but if the a/c looked like it had not been taken care of I would let someone else deal with it
The chirp says it all
Evaporator was low pressure because you left the panel off. So you were doing bypass to the avaporator pressure is going to drop. And the coil is going to freeze.
Incorrect brother mobile homes usually have down flow and just pull through a filter grill where the evap is and on down most mobile homes are set up like that split system of course
Snake looks like he Died from Starvation. NO Mice up there and Unfortunately for the Snake, his Reverse Gear was Broken. 😬👍🙏
That unit got snake bit
That there is why you should ground out the capacitor before testing it. The snake must not have read the books😪, How can you live with a beeping smoke detector!
What was the problem? Why is the coil being replaced? Seems like there was a restriction or a bad txv.
I agree, but there was paint all over that coil too...and the coil comes with a TXV. That's most likely why.
@numchux2 well, he never really explained what was wrong, so it's kind of confusing the way it abruptly ended.
That’s EXACTLY what I was thinking. Hopefully he’s installing a new dryer too
@@realSamAndrewit was a liquid line restriction. He didn’t test the bulb or the dryer. The filter dryer could’ve deteriorated and plugged up the txv🍻
@@SickaMorStyle it did appear to be a liquid line restriction, but he didn't really show how he got from point A to point B. Then, if it's a liquid line restriction, why is he replacing a whole coil?
I would not be able to do that kind of work. Customers rarely take any thought about maintenance or keeping things clean.
That job came with free lunch 🤓
Why are people so dam lazy to keep the compressor unit clean and free of the dam garbage all over it. And changing the filters. You get what you pay for. 😂😂
And to change their smoke detector batteries!!!!
Because they’re too Darn Lazy and Don’t Care if they Die in their Sleep from Smoke Inhalation. 😬👍
Totally agree with you but if it wouldn’t for those people Curtis wouldn’t have a job !. 😅
The smoke detector answers your question on why. You know who lives there...
Hey…it’s easy to space off…even when the home owner is good at maintenance….sometimes bigger issues come first and it slips the mind…especially in older homes and mobile homes that are constantly needing maintenance…and it’s a pain when u have to make ur own filters cuz they don’t sell the size u need anymore lol…that’s how odd and possibly out of date some furnaces and ac’s are but if it’s not broken u know…
Curtis, do you charge your customers for the diagnosis even if you end up getting the job to replace the equipment? Is it 2 separate transactions or added all together?
Sometimes
how may trailers I have been in an the dam smoke detector needing a battery
4:14 liquid line restriction? Watching the rest of the video find out
Was the doors on in reverse? not able to get air?
had our capacitor go out on our york go out and somehow a swarm of bees had landed and got inside so when the unit powered on bees got cooked smelled like burned honey and baby shampoo i hate bugs when it comes to HVAC
How di snake get in there?
Sounds like an Infestation of those Annoying Chirping Crickets ? 🤔 Still Interested in participating in a 9-Volt Battery Fund for your Customers. 😬👍
Ha i thought of that too, but we would all go broke and the renters would take the battery out to use elsewhere. Chirp! No problem!
Renter call on Saturday evening: "Yes the toilet clogged on Thursday and the shit is up to the seat. Could you come unclog it?"
When I change my air conditioner can you help me carry it
Hi super heat = starving evaporator but hate it when expensive tools misread
ahhh yes...another trailer...another smoke detector not maintained.
why on earth would you paint your coil and lines like that?
Chirp
Bad TXV?
Yes
Come on people 6.00 dollars will stop your smoke alarm for a whole year 😂
That was a rattlesnake. 👉🏻 it rattled me. There might be more
Amazing how they paint everything that doesn’t move and as usual beeping smoke detector
Are your temperature probes on the right lines?
Surprised snake didnt take out cap snakes mice bugs lizards ya they can all stop a unit wish people would learn to put baterys in smoke detectors they cherp for a reason yap defently needs coil and blower cleaned
Gotta love those fieldpiece probes. Try testo. They work so much more reliably. For me anyways.
I found a dead beaver in my ex GF's shorts...😂
How do people live with a chirping smoke detector?
*chirp
The covers are on backwards, the grill should be on the bottom.
No, the covers were correct, the filter was in the wrong spot. It's a downflow unit.
Trailer TRASH!!!!😂
You don’t half work in some shitholes. Why is it that every American home has a TV at full blast,it is only good manners to turn TV off when you have guests in your home. Also why don’t these people maintain their smoke detectors?
If i need help
Robot birds are taking over
Birds aren’t real.
Idiots are also taking over
My missing pet snake-face scale-skin! Oh no!
