He looks good. Its concerning the plastic is a bit thin. Hopefully they’ll do a bit of refining and eventually release a well painted, premium version. The plain plastic looks awful. The bare, nylon plastic is what has pushed me off of all of their other Legends stuff -tho their V2 Legends Nemesis looks pretty good as the flat black looks much better that the flat red. My real only disappointment with this sculpt is the strange, flat, SQUARE panel on the back that protrudes out a bit. Its not horrible, but it is noticeable from certain angles.
Yeah he's def nice to look at. Some folks who are familiar with plastics are telling me that it's actually deceptively durable given its chemical composition. Thanks for watching, David! He is definitely light but folks who are familiar with plastics are telling me that he's deceptively durable despite all this. I wont find out the hard way haha. Magic square did a good job with this mold, I have the legends version but I find it has enough flaws that I don't want to replace my mp44 and te01. Maybe if they come out with a fully painted one.
Would they be able to fix the lack of head title on the metallic version? I ask since I feel like he was looking down when he talked to other autobots and the idea of using the ab crunch to do it isn't attractive since it looks like he's a mother waving their finger at little autobots in a negative way. Optimus always talked to people; he didn't talk down to them in a belittling way. I would of gotten the MS-01 Metallic but it didn't connect to any cab so I pass on it in the past. So glad to see they made it compatible with both trailers. I hope we get an adapter so it works with the MP-22 and XTB Ultra Magnus trailer as well.
Yeah I dunno, but if they did that'd be great! And I know what you mean! I love that slight look down. Lmao at the "mother waving their finger" hhahh so true!! Oh did MS-01 not connect to any trailer? I thought it had been designed to work with MP10's. MS-02 certainly does tho! Has multiple trailer connectors, which I assume are for either MP10s trailer or MP44's. If we dont get a native adaptor, maybe someone in the 3D print space will make one :)
I appreciate the in-depth talk about the plastic quality. I know some people like to harp on and on about plastic quality but it will certainly be interesting comparing this with TE-01. When I first got that figure, my first thought was that it felt really hefty so its interesting that this figure, despite being MP scale, might be lighter than it looks. Speaking of looks, I think this figure is almost perfect. The only think I don't like about the look is that the back is a little too SQUARE. I feel like they could have introduced some more clever engineering in scaling the figure up from its legends size but it still looks far better than MP-44. I probably would have ended up buying one if it weren't for this figure since a year with TE-01 has really left me itching for a figure with better articulation. Oh and the gaps in the head are a little puzzling. I think that was a bit of an oversight but as you said, at all angles except up close and center, it looks amazing. Overall, its nice to hear these conclusions from someone who has owned all of its competitors.
You bet, Leo! Some folks who are more familiar with plastics are telling me that it's actually more durable than it appears. Yeah, I think the plastic is different than TE01. TE01 is more like the plastics that I'm *used* to vs. MS-02 seems to be a newer type of plastic that I've seen on various toys, including Hasbros. Makes me wonder if it works better at smaller more compact scale tho... Amazon says TE01 is near 32 oz (really?!?!), vs MP44 which is 18 oz, and this dude who is 12 oz, so quite the difference! I loved my TE01, but like you, the stiffness overtime got to me and I ended up just selling him (I even had a neck upgrade on him too!) But in the end, there are so many choices for us consumers, so I feel pretty 🔲 about everything in the end :-)
Actually, this figure does have double jointed elbows, so you can bend the arm over 140 degrees. Also, most of the parts have been made of nylon plastic which supposedly is more durable than ABS plastic that is typically used in these figures. So maybe it is okay that the panels are thin. The world is square.
Wsup bud. Oh no kidding? Maybe I shoulda pushed a little harder haha. I've been so worries with how hollow he feels! But nylon plastic you say?! I dont even know what that is lol. That's pretty cool :) As for the sturdiness of it, I'ma have to take your word on that haha. Thanks for watching! The world can be 🔲 with a little Magic!
Honestly struggling between getting this or te-01. I like how you can get this guy in really dynamic poses but I'd want him to feel solid to handle you know. Idk I'll see what I'll figure out later
Honestly, theyre both great pieces. TE01 is SOLID. Wont budge and often feels like a posable statue. If someone hit me on the head with a TE01 I might get a mild concussion hahaha. He is stiffer than the rest tho - BUT - with some creativity and gentle posing, you can give him some good looks. Someone on TFW2005 did a great post showing off TE01's articulation. MS-02 is light. Amazon says TE01 is almost 2 lbs, which is 32 oz. This dude weighs 12 oz lol. BUT he is super G1 faithful and is EXTREMELY articulated. If someone hit me on the head with MS-02, the toy would break, I would turn around and hit that person back with a TE01 🤣🤣🤣

I was looking forward for this but now I'm kinda disappointed. Still, I think it will be a good idea to wait for the metallic paint version (and maybe a MP10 style head). I know, I'm such a square.
I bet they're going to released an improved version! And who knows, maybe I'll sell this guy then haha. We're all a bunch of 🔲 bears when it comes to our toys hahaha. Nerd out and rock out! :D
Little late, but wanted to let you know this figure should be ay okay to play with aside from smoke stacks. I've transformed the LEGENDS scale version like 50 times, and nothing has broken or degraded (even had him in a my pocket a few times and just had to reflex the stacks back in place). Though to be fair, maybe the big guy might be stronger in some places, weaker in others.
Thanks, bud! Since shooting the video I've converted him once and he held up okay haha. I heard the new version is reinforced version with metal joints. Could be interesting. I havent bought the Legends scale, but I do think MS's version is superior to the Newage version (altho David is pretty nice too!)
Yeah wish he didnt feel so light. Folks are telling me he's more durable than he looks tho. And by some transformation videos I've seen, it appears to be that way, but I'm still gentle with mine haha
I like him but he feels very cheap but extremely accurate to the G1 cartoon. I still like the look and feel of my MP-10 better though. He might not be as accurate but, with the paint and nicer plastic, I like him more. With that said, I just pre-ordered Magic Square's MS-B47 Meteorite, aka Jetfire. I like Jetfire so I'll be able to compare this to Takara Tomy's version when he comes out. MS-B47 will be my second Magic Square toy.
Def feels light and cheap, but the consensus seems to be that despite that he's quite durable. I'll take their word on that :-) Yeah MS has great designs, but I know some folks dont like their plastic choice. But it's been cool watching NA vs MS in the Legends war haha
@@BotBenderOrinj I'm hoping Toyhax will release some decals for him so he's not so plain looking as that's really my only complaint on him. I forgot to mention the plastic in that, although it feels cheap, it's supposed to be very durable, so that's a good thing.
God i'm so sick of the criticisms of the plastic quality. This thing WON'T break with use! The plastic is fine. And the WHOLE point of the figure is to capture the G1 toon (this is Magic Square's way) which is does. As a result it's absolutely the best-looking Prime ever made and the most articulated. Paint and die-cast is irrelevant as that's not what Magic Square do, you other options for that. They also don't = greatness in a figure.
I do like the 1st version and need to track him down. I love that ultra blocky and squared look. This does look better. O It sucks about the plastic quality tho. I was really hoping for something that could be the best of the best. A few changes and it would have been the undisputed champ. So more of a gut punch he isn't. I'll still get him tho.
Wsup bud. I liked MS-01 in the Legends scale, but didnt like him blown up. Not sure what it was, but it didn't do it for me. Ya know, despite what I've been saying about the plastic, folks who are familiar with plastics are telling me that it's more durable than it looks 🤷♂️ Scared to find out the hard way tho haha. It's pretty close to best of the best. I feel like in the subsequent iterations theyre going to undertake, theyre going to improve or up the 'sheen' so that it feels more polished and high quality. Yeah, Ima keep mine too. Go get em! :D
Disclaimer. I collect predominantly fanstoys. My light of peace arrived last Saturday. It looks phenomenal as a display piece. But the materials are terrible. Very cheap plasticy feel to it. Great articulation. Not a lick of die-cast, and from whet I can tell no paint. Looks great but cheaply made. Im glad I have it though as its aesthetic is sooooo g1 and as I only display in robot mode and never transform I'm fairly happy. I repeat it looks the business if you're after the g1 look.
Ikr? That's how I feel as well. Altho, folks who are familiar with plastics are telling me that it's more durable than it looks... I dunno haha. And youre right, he's great as a display. Great shelf presence and esthetics. I agree with all your ports and homie is going to my MP bot-mode display Prime going forward :) Thanks for watching!
@@BotBenderOrinj I think my reaction is based on what I usually buy. My collectiom is all fanstoys barring the deformation seekers, takara 36 megs and TE prime. Light of peace looks exactly as I want him too (as I refuse to pay the mp44 price).
I think it looks pretty good for what it is, but I feel you on the plastic quality. Transformations, I'm usually relatively gentle but the occasional force comes into play lol overall pretty decent I guess you'd say "entry level" masterpiece. Idk how a real mp feels but I'd imagine a pretty dense quality hefty feel in the weight and like joint tolerances and stuff. I'd deff consider this guy if I get into other party figures, haven't dabbled in that field yet lol
I really like the slim clean look on the side profile, very nice, he could use just a bit of paint if someone really wanted to, even without any mods though he lookin fiiiiine lol
Yeah, it is nice. Folks at work think it's superior to MP44 just based on the esthetics as they pass by my office. The plastic quality tho.... I mean, I get it, they're a business and they're all about profit, but I feel like a small investment into a better product leads to long-term loyalty. Kinda short-sighted on their part imho. MPs feel pretty legit. Nice plastic, polished manufacturing, and parts. They do get the occasional error now and then tho lol. The MP44 KO that makes the cameo is nice tho. Hard to say which one I like better.
I know what you mean haha. At the same time, Larkin's Lair did a speed transformation with it and it handled itself quite well. Other folks have told me that the plastic quality, despite being thin, is made of a more durable material? I dunno tho haha. Still gonna be gentle with mine :-)

I agree. Really well done on their part :-) Just neeeeds a tiny bit more refinement and it can be near perfect.
10:28 he got double jointed elbow if you want to know
Wsup bud. Yeah, lots of folks shared that with me later. Thanks!
I square I’m keeping my MS-01 just for comparison and do the Spider-Man pose…
Hahhaa awesome. Magic 🔲 has done a decent job with this guy :-)
I do love the look of the magic square OP but is he square enough for me for the money 🤑
Thanks for watching and commenting, Tony! Unfortunately, the winner was already picked on Monday!
Is the 2.0 the same as 2023 Version?
Yeah should be. All the 2.0 versions are the same IIRC.
Know where he doesn’t fall short?…the PRICE TAG!
Jyeahhh!! Absolutely correct :)
He looks really good just a shame the plastic choice and no diecast makes him feel on the cheap side. Square is gonna do what square wants.
Yeah, Toyhax to the rescue :-)
God i'm so sick of the criticisms of the plastic quality. This thing WON'T break with use! The plastic is fine. And the WHOLE point of the figure is to capture the G1 toon (this is Magic Square's way) which is does. As a result it's absolutely the best-looking Prime ever made and the most articulated. Paint and die-cast is irrelevant as that's not what Magic Square do, you other options for that. They also don't = greatness in a figure.
That seems to be the consensus!
I do like the 1st version and need to track him down. I love that ultra blocky and squared look. This does look better. O
It sucks about the plastic quality tho.
Yeah hes a good alternative!
Lol he's a thumb left or a thumb 10 o clock? Lol the rubber finger thing!! Throw bacck school stuff, feelin like a square bear!
Haha take it back to the old school, back to ⬜ one!
@@BotBenderOrinj reminds me of the rubber pencil trick and rubber band v-darts 😁 we had fun with no electronics in school I'd say
This Optimus seems to have a nice square chest. 🟦🟦
He does! Trying to get those perfect 🔲 pecs!

No go for me, I've got a few friends that received it and I actually got to handle it as well but man' this thing feels really cheap and frail
I know what you mean haha. At the same time, Larkin's Lair did a speed transformation with it and it handled itself quite well. Other folks have told me that the plastic quality, despite being thin, is made of a more durable material? I dunno tho haha. Still gonna be gentle with mine :-)
With a lot of the reviews I’ve seen of this guy, his plastic is so thin you can see the brighter light behind this guy. Not good.
Seems that way. Altho I'm being told that despite the thinness, it's supposed to be durable nylon plastic 🤷♂️ Not gonna find out the hard way tho haha
Square saled flavored bubbles snapped Optimus Prime luke a vintage rubber band ninja doll filled with mouthfuls of burnt hair. This is correct.
Last time I checked, this was correct! 🔲

Hey bud, thanks for comment! Unfortunately that giveaway is long over! Thank you tho for watching the video!
