    Excellent video! So much more represented here than just the catching of trout. Great respect shown for the whole immersive experience that is wild trout fishing along with obvious care for the trout and stream. Made me want to be there. Well done and congratulations on a great day on the water.

      Jeremy, I really appreciate your words. Thank you!! I try my best to make each episode into a little movie for that day on the stream. I am passionate about wild and native trout and conserving this precious natural resource. Also, the cold, clean water is critical as well as the natural forested habitat. Long live the wild and native trout!! Thanks again and tight lines 👊

    Remember a few videos ago, I commented on there always being a bigger fish.....well, you got him.
    Too bad the water was a bit cloudy when he was released. Would've been nice to see him swim away a bit more.
    Amazing. Great catch. Great video.
    What a windy, rainy day. And you braved it to educate and entertain us . Thank you for that.👍

    You did it again, felt like I was on the water with you. Another superb video. Really thought you were gonna pull a few more good sized browns from that last hole especially by that feeder. Keep them coming Wild Trout Man.

    Inspirational. I went sunday here in nny. The water was insanely high since last month but I caught 2 little browns and a 18 inch smallmouth, which I thought was the 20 inch brown. Found my first morel mushrooms, which where just on the way out, nearly dried and bleached. But success, trout n mushrooms. Filmed it all. Have a video soon.
    Thanks dude.

    Fun video! Was given a fly rod, so I need to start learning. Do you usually cast upriver and have fly drift towards you?

    • @WildTroutMan
      @WildTroutMan  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks Kent!! Yes, because the fish are less likely to see you if you cast upstream or 3/4’s upstream. Fly fishing is an incredible sport…. Hope you get hooked!!

    • @WildTroutMan
      @WildTroutMan  2 роки тому +1

      If you cast upstream, strip line in as the fly floats towards you so you can be ready to strike as soon as the trout hits. Make sure your fly is floating at the same speed as the bubbles so it looks like a natural floating insect.

      Pretty sure my wife and I bumped into on one of its neighbors this past Spring. You beat us there by a little bit and were gearing up a couple hundred yards below the confluence with the trib you fished that day. We went back this Fall and fished that one. Very nice stream. There’s a big Brown in the one obvious spot on that stream. Big undercut boulder on the left below an impassable falls. Hooked him, but didn’t land him. Mid teens probably. Was all Brookies above that.

      @WildTroutMan  2 роки тому

      @@mattyancheff3037 yes, I remember that. That was a classy move. You are a fly fisherman and a gentleman. Nice to meet you here.
      I did well on that gorgeous stream… only brookies though. I also did a UA-cam video of that experience called Fly Fishing for Native PA Brook Trout.

      We got a late start that day. It was pretty cold out, wasn’t expecting to run into anybody. I fish almost entirely small streams, and maybe once a year I bump into another angler. On a small stream like that the guy who gets there first has the right of way to do whatever they want IMO. Thought I recognized that stream from your other video. I’m sure it has Browns to that waterfall. Good thing it’s there for the Brookies’ sake. Enjoying your videos. Keep at it!

    • @WildTroutMan
      @WildTroutMan  2 роки тому +1

      @@mattyancheff3037 yeah, I definitely love fly fishing small streams for native and wild trout. That is my specialty and I’ve been doing it since I was a kid 🙂 soo many great memories and incredible experiences with just breathtaking scenery. Gotta love it!! Good thing there are some waterfalls on these streams to save territory for the native brookies. Once the wild browns move in, it’s even a tougher time for the brookies to survive. I also rarely bump into anyone on these streams which is kind of nice too, but I wouldn’t mind bumping into someone like yourself that is passionate about fly fishing for wild trout.

    • @WildTroutMan
      @WildTroutMan  Рік тому

      Hi Mike,
      Sorry, can’t spot burn with names for these small streams. There would be a stampede of fishermen and these streams can’t support that kind of pressure. I will say to check out the Lehigh River and its tributaries and Broadhead Creek and its tributaries. You will certainly have lots of quality material to work with in those watersheds. October will be a wonderful time of year to explore the Poconos. Thanks for watching and let me know how you do. Long live the wild trout!!

    Question. I'm fishing an extremely long stream, really tannic water but clear still. Its stocked in town with 9 10" browns. The towns population is roughly 200 maybe less. So as soon as after a mile the stream goes into thick forest high banks and huge cliffs and ridges. The streams fierce and narrow. Will any of these brown trout they stock go down river into no pressure areas and grow and holdover? I caught a 18" smallmouth shaped like a torpedo. Is that bad? Should I keep fishing it for a wild or holdover brown?

    • @WildTroutMan
      @WildTroutMan  2 роки тому +1

      Sounds like an awesome stream. Sure, the stocked browns will move depending on water quality, temperature and structure. I’m sure some of them will be found in the forested area.

    Heard of an Adam's fly but what is a super Adam's?

    • @WildTroutMan
      @WildTroutMan  2 роки тому

      Rick, here is the recipe for my Super Adams creation:
      hook size 14 but can be 12 or 16 also
      tail - up dn trout wing material cut in half
      body - grayish brown antron
      hackle - grizzly and brown
      wing - up dn trout gray wing material or white olefin yarn
      It’s a beefed up Adams dry fly made to float exceptionally well. The up dn trout tail material floats incredibly well. I do use that material for the wing too because of how well it floats but it only comes in the color gray so this time I used white olefin yarn for the wing because it’s easier to see in a fast tumbling brookie stream. It’s a killer fly that floats high and can support a tungsten bead dropper. That’s an absolutely winning combination and you’ll see with my videos that it’s a combo I use quite frequently with very good success. Thanks for watching and tight lines!!
