This second season bringing the darkness, grit, and action - along with the usual stunning visuals of Middle Earth. Annatar and Celebrimbor story should shine. Really looking forward to it!
I agree that Anatar was meant to look different to the elves in-story, but still recognizable to the audience. Otherwise, it would be too confusing to the viewer. A lot of people criticised his wig etc as not being a convincing disguise. But I think it was intentional for the audience and a very clever representation.
The audience will see Annatar with Charlie Vickers face walk towards Eregion, when he changes his face and then appears to Celebrimbor in the light. This way we know it’s Sauron, but Celebrimbor believes him about being an emissary of the Valar. Later, after the rings have been created and the 7 already been given out to the Dwarves, and shortly before the battle begins, the elves figure out he’s Sauron and they confront him, at which point he changes his face back to Charlie Vickers and Celebrimbor knows he was Halbrand. That’s why all the scenes of Annatar in the trailer are during the battle.
Have to say that Charlie Vickers' Annatar looks better and better each passing day, now that I don't just see Halbrand in different clothes. Brilliant, can't wait.
I don't care what anyone says. The Halrand/Sauron character was well written. And the actor did a great job as him.
Also I always thought Elf/Orc guy killed Sarouns elf form. And This time he came back as a simple man.
The entire show was great. If they had just fixed the pacing and dialogue issues that occured a bit too often, it would be a brilliant show. Hopefully it was Covid that caused most of the issues, so season 2 should be great.
@@Askyl Who knows. But I really didn't mind the changes. I mean I never really read the books fully but I look at the wiki's alot of the characters and such. And I don't see why Galadriel couldn't have been a warrior for a time in the second age to grow into the elf we know and love. Everyone has to start out somewhere.
@@A21-EDITS21 Problem they have with the rights is that they don't have access to all the History of Middle Earth books which covers most of 2nd age.
Silmarillion have a chapter about Numenor and a few pages about the 2nd age.
Galadriel, with the information we have from Tolkien, was a warrior. She would be doing similar things as in the show.
Chosing Galadriel as a main character was a great pick, because Tolkien obviously had great ideas for her but never had the time to write much of it. Putting her in a bit of a gray area where she obviously fought against Sauron, got one of the rings, created Lothlorien etc. But there's so much blank space they can add lore and create a story for her.
Disregarding the silly wig, same face, etc., people also forget he was also known as the Necromancer. Spells of concealment, trickeries of the mind, deception, etc.
Not to mention, wigs in Middle-Earth weren't really a thing. If someone has the same face shape but wildly different hair, the most likely conclusion is that this is a different person, no matter how uncanny. It's not like magic or wigs are so prolific in Middle-Earth that someone would recognise this a deceptive ploy. It would seem strange and familiar, yet obviously different.

Yes. If Annatar can fool Galadriel into having an immersive vision of her dead brother interacting with her, I think he can easily fool those around him in Eregion.

I still think the Annatar wig is too high. It looks like the wig is pulling back because it isn't secured with hair pins. Also, a straight perm?! Really?!

I have a feeling Sauron will lure Adar and his orcs toward Eregion (like following him there to capture him instead they catch galadriel. (Just my thought)
I think Galadriel not telling Celebrimbor why he shouldn't deal with Halbrand is the correct theory, Celebrimbor will recognize him as Halbrand but Sauron will introduce Annatar as his true identity, somewhat convince him to forge the rings. It fits with the characters personalities as we've seen them in the show too (Sauron's brillant mind and charm, Celebrimbor's ambition and Galadriel's pride for hiding the fact that she helped Sauron).
The moment we see a figure appearing in the light also kind of looks like we see a broken wall with smoke coming from the "outside".Does it necessarily need to be the aura of Sauron or maybe it's just Eregion burning under the attack.
The wig is fine, Charlie has a high hairline, and it is further back, the wig looks good as the movie elves. But I do like to see both annatar and the halbrand.
Eru I hope that Halbrand is just Sauron’s temporary disguise as a mortal, I don’t want to see much more of the scruffy-cringey-sleazy-brand of Sauron. I love the new Annatar look and didn’t recognize Charlie at first either. That is perfect for an “emissary of the Valar”.
I think it's quite likely the elves in Eregion will see a different face, and Sauron's true face will only appear at the end, during the sack of Eregion. I'm also curious about the female voice that says "He's been here all along" in the trailer -- I wonder where that fits in?
Halbrand had that satchel, seemingly full of rings by the sound of it, during Season one. So I believe that he introduced himself to Celebrimbor as Annatar pre season one, created the nine and the seven rings, dissapeared and came back as Halbrand. Celebrimbor didn't recognise Halbrand as Annatar, not the other way round. That would also mean the rings were created in the correct order.
This would be the ideal situation for me. Also, Annatar would have been at the council meeting that decided Galadriel's fate, which would allow him to shift into Halbrand, get on the ship (soon to be raft) and "accidentally" bump into her, assuming he'd have known she would jump with some sorcery.
This would be very cool if they went this direction. I hope it is something like this!

After the fall of Numenor, Sauron's body is destroyed, and when he reforms, he has lost the ability to take a fair form, basically he's stuck in an ugly form, and that's when he decides to look scary instead of looking beautiful, and dons the black armor he's known for.

@@rikhuravidansker yeah but that's the first age. In the second age, Sauron uses a fair form, until he can't anymore and adopts the Dark Lord armor for the rest of his "life"
i don't like the theory in which that's charlie's face with cgi on another actor face..i would exclude that. I like to think that in some way, just for celebrimbor ambitions, he DOES infact, convince him to help him finish the work. but still, i want to know the reason that answer the question: "how come nobody recognises him and still he get to be near celebrimbor again?"

This show literally has a supposed mortal man in his late 20s, early 30s go "Yo, second greatest smith of all time, let me tell you about alloys! Don't mind the fact that I for some reason know about something even you don't (even though you should too!), and also don't mind that fact that I, the mortal man, was impaled by a lance, rode a horse and bled for 6 days, and still survived!"
How Celebrimbor would be so naive?

In which season can we see Sauron forging the One ring in Mount Doom?
Hard to say really, in the Silmarillion version the One was created around the same time as the Three after Sauron departed Eregion. Both were made without the knowledge of the other until Sauron wore the One Ring for the first time and the ringbearers Gil-galad, Cirdan and Galadriel could sense the presence of the master ruling ring. Since the Three have already been crafted the One Ring can be made before or after S2, it’s anyone’s guess.
It is impossible to guess. In the lore, The Gwaith-i-Mirdain made the first 16 Rings 90 years before Celebrimbor made Vilya, Nenya, and Narya. Sauron made the One Ring ten years after that.
So, will they show a flashback of the Gwaith-i-Mirdain making the first sixteen Rings of Power with Annatar's help? Or will Annatar work with Celebrimbor after Halbrand reveals himself?
It’s blatantly obvious that it is the same face. If they keep it as it is in the trailer it’s not good. It looks like Halbrand in fancy dress as an elf, and more specifically a Peter Jackson version of an elf. If he wanted to look like a ‘Rings of Power Season 1 elf’ he’d just need pointy ears.
But why should Sauron return to Eregion anyway? He was already in Eregion by accident. And the Elves already created the rings of power, Celebrimbor knows at this point how to create Rings of Powers. They rushed the the whole „rings of power“ plot in RoP Season One.

Right now, Celebrimbor has only done 3 rings to save the elves of Middle Earth, he has no need to make other rings... Sauron will probably convince him to make the others so he can then steal them and use them to enslave Middle Earth.
@@segments2156 true they will probably follow the Jackson version where the ring poem is historical rather than legend. The films also don’t indicate the elves made the rings for themselves. So in the ROP version the 6 and 9 are probably always meant for dwarves and men. I prefer the Gwaith i Mirdain and Celebrimbor making all the rings save the One Ring. That Sauron chose the elves to manipulate and only resorted to other races as plan B but that telling doesn’t seem likely in tv or film anytime soon. Of course in the teaser trailer or BTS we see Celebrimbor dropping nine rings. It’s just too early to know how it will go.

Warner has same rights Amazon has: lotr and hobbit. Nobody has Second Age books rights. Ya all just gatekeepe Jackson
HBO and Netflix were also in the bidding war to buy the TV rights. The rights would not be sold to the highest bidder but to the bidder with a project that the Tolkien Estate would find to be the most interesting to make.
Netflix came with the idea of making a Young Aragorn show... HBO came with the idea of remaking the Lord of the Rings trilogy on TV (what they are doing now with Harry Potter), and Amazon were the one who came up with the idea of making a show about the second age. They were chosen because they were the ones with the most imaginative idea of the three.
So basically, HBO would have never done what you are "praying" for. Also... prayers don't work, nobody is listening to them.

Galadriel saw right through Sauron in the books and told him to eff off. Meanwhile, the entire first season is her being fooled even though the guy survives things no human could.

What a kick in the balls to the original material If you sell me LOTR, give me LOTR And LOTR is how it is, and it's nothing like this If it weren't for the title and the names, you wouldn't even know it's that world and it would seem like just another generic fantasy world Plus, it's boring and full of ridiculous moments
