The reason for the idea of 'Killing hitler' is a time travel concept like the grandfather paradox. If you build a time machine to go back and kill hitler he would not exist and you would not have a reason for building a time machine to go back and kill him. This would mean you never travelled back in time and therefore Hitler would exist and you would build a time machine.

Gosh I love this episode! River Song is absolutely my favourite character of all time.. Season 6 is also my favourite season, it's main story line is great! Btw your reaction is especially cute when there is a happy emotional moment going on 😊

Mels says, "Last time I did this, I ended up a toddler in the middle of New York." This would make Melody her first body, Mels her second and River her third. The only flaw with this theory is that the New York regeneration took place in 1969 and Mels grew up with her parents in the 90s (though she does mention that she has the ability to make herself young in "Let's Kill Hitler").

When I first watched this I spent the whole first third of the episode being a Mrs Grumpy Pants hating Mels & wondering why they had a woman who might as well have been River instead of having River herself. It didn't even begin to cross my mind that Mels was River. I felt very foolish later, because when you know, it's bloody obvious. Hee! BTW This is now one of my favourite episodes.
Imagine how effective this twist would’ve been had Mels been a recurring character appearing in Eleventh hour, and maybe one other story in Season 5. This twist would’ve been immense
Almost every room in Swansea Guildhall and its exteriors, including the High Court building, was used in this episode because it was built in the Monumental Style of the 1930s; it still amazes me how many buildings and locations I grew up with are used in the making of Dr Who.

Fans love tearing this episode apart but i loved it! It was event tv and i loved how atfer 3 months getting over and provessing the twist and seeing where to go next was truly incredible. Anyway i love this episode as a mid series opener and then it shows all the actors in top form, great twists and more hints at where Series 6 was heading and beyond ;-) Gosh i miss this era!

We knew at that point that the doctor still had two regenerations left so it made the scene look legit but once we find out it’s a clone of the Doctor it didn’t count as a life/regeneration.
I still think that being half time lady and human river used her regenerations to save the doctor, if only 1 bit of energy was used to make a new regeneration process on the doctor because all the river energy that was transferred to him would not be good for him to gain. her remaining regenerations

No, River knew everything, but had to pretend to not know, so not to interfere with the time lines. River like the Doctor lies all the time. She has to, as it is the only way she can survive.
People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly, timey-wimey stuff. That’s all I have to say for this episode...

Let's face it by this point Rory had already gone from one of the lamest if not the lamest of all the companions to being the most badass of all of them and then he goes and punches Hitler. Securing his spot for decades to come.
There's always been one thing about River that never settled well with me. If you were in her shoes, think about it....she's spent her whole life being someone that others want her to be. She was stolen and brainwashed as a weapon to kill the doctor. So she just went along with that being a tool. Then she knows who her parents are and pretty much has her life's plan handed to her and realizes the Doctor is the good guy and she has a future with him. She just accepts her fate. "Ok I guess I'll have to be an archeologist now" She never has some mental break down like Neo saying, No...this is my life. My choices aren't already made for me. I would have liked to see her go on some sort of rampage trying to fight her destiny.
it's a shame you've missed so many minisodes. the episode prequels to the last several episodes, and the "night and the doctor" ones, two of which continue the thing from "space and time" where amy was trying to ask the doctor a question also, the first children in need minisode set before the first christmas special, and the tardisodes from season 2

There's always been one thing about River that never settled well with me. If you were in her shoes, think about it....she's spent her whole life being someone that others want her to be. She was stolen and brainwashed as a weapon to kill the doctor. So she just went along with that being a tool. Then she knows who her parents are and pretty much has her life's plan handed to her and realizes the Doctor is the good guy and she has a future with him. She just accepts her fate. "Ok I guess I'll have to be an archeologist now" She never has some mental break down like Neo saying, No...this is my life. My choices aren't already made for me. I would have liked to see her go on some sort of rampage trying to fight her destiny.
Good vid as always but I think it would be better if you didn't pause it as much and had the discussion towards the end. But maybe that's just me.
it's a shame you've missed so many minisodes. the episode prequels to the last several episodes, and the "night and the doctor" ones, two of which continue the thing from "space and time" where amy was trying to ask the doctor a question
also, the first children in need minisode set before the first christmas special, and the tardisodes from season 2
