This is probably the greatest reaction video I’ve ever seen. I’m more with her emotional reactions to David’s guitar work. I cry almost every time I hear him, lyrivs aren’t necessary. But Roger’s lyrics were profound. And he went deep on that. A perfect combination.
Having been a PF fan for over 40 years, here's my take on the Waters/other guys contribution. Lyrically, there's nothing to say - Waters is one of the greatest lyricists of his generation, the rest of PF could not come close. Musically however - Waters' writing is extremely dramatic. He comes up with great hooks and melodies. But listen to his solo albums, they are full over-the-top drama, sudden loud-quiet-loud-quiet transitions and an almost assault-style production - great in small doses, but he goes too far. That's where Gilmour and Wright (and to a lesser extent Mason, I suppose) really helped Pink Floyd. Their writing is much smoother and softer, more atmospheric. Even on the Floyd's Waters-only penned songs, I can imagine Gilmour and Wright saying "let's smooth this out". Imagine Waters' music is like caviar, Foie Gras, or white truffles - exquisite, but you don't want to have an entire meal of the stuff - it's too rich. The rest of Pink Floyd supplied the meat, potatoes and veggies that balanced it out and made it all more listenable. With the music balanced, and Waters' lyrics on top of that they were unstoppable. Separated, Waters' solo work is very interesting, but hard to listen to over and over. Post-Waters Pink Floyd is the opposite - beautiful, grande and easy to listen to, but with mostly uninteresting lyrics and lacking the occasional dramatic punch that Waters would give.

I’ve seen more than one article or video snippet saying that Animals is a favorite of many die hard Floyd fans. I’m proud of myself for always considering it my “go to” Floyd album. It got mixed reviews when it first came out because many reviewers considered it angry and pessimistic. In the years since it’s release it has been given new looks and listens by “those in the know” and is now widely considered one of their best albums and one of the best rock / psychedelic albums of the 70’s.
There's a line in the song that says "And as the fear grows, the bad blood slows and turns to stone." That's what he's referencing at the end. Eventually he was dragged down by the stone. By all that bad blood he created. The stone reference is mentioned throughout the album in different places, but I think it's here where he defines what it is. Also, he basically realizes in the end that he's been being used all along. A dog trained, chained and discarded. (presumably by pigs.)
Hi, I interpret "the stone" as guilt, mental anguish, because of all the times he's used and abused people for his benefit. And the heavy guilt (the stone) is dragging him down.

I did that for many years with this album until one time I sat and paid special attention to the WORDS and learned that it was even more powerful than first imagined. this entire album, start to finish, is my go-to, late night roadtrip, everyone else in the car is asleep, nothing but 3 more hours of white lines and stars selection. it's a fantastic journey.
Thanks guys, for the reaction! This song has always had a special place in my heart!!! One special instance was back when I was still living in Atlanta… it was after work, I was sitting in my car smoking some weed, I gestured my co-worker who was parked next to me to come sit in my car and share this smoke with me… she had heard of the band’s name but never heard any Pink Floyd songs before - she was raised on nothing but rap/hiphop/soul… when Gilmour’s solo hit at 3:40 in the song, for whatever reason she just busted out crying like she had been holding it back for a while and said it was the most beautiful thing she’d ever heard before! She became a fan of the band afterwards! Pink Floyd is so magical!
What’s crazy is that this is easily their most underrated album. Animals was sandwiched between The Dark Side of the Moon (the most popular album in history) and The Wall (of of the most popular albums in history). So it often gets unnoticed. Truly a gem of an album. And my personal favorite.
unbelievable track. The instrumental section just hits so hard, right in your heart, then it's totally vulnerable to the lyrics. absolutely incredible what they channeled
David Gilmour at his peak in my humble opinion. I'm more a fan of the Roger Waters era as he really brought a 'bite' or an edge to their material. Great to see you guys finally checking this out. Definitely need to do the rest of the album.
Gilmour is always at his peak .. so is Waters to be honest. I can't possibly pick. Waters post Pink Floyd word is hugely underrated, Amused to Death is my Fav.
@@redrick8900 lol .. They put the name on it because they were/are Pink Floyd. And they produced 3 albums after Waters not one ..and they were all exceptional. These guys don’t really care all that much about “selling” more records, they’ve already made all the money and achieved all the fame.
This is (of all the reaction videos I watched) the most sensitive, emotional, and receptive I ever seen in my life. The last line of Waters is what Pink Floyd talks about in all their albums. The best band in history, don’t doubt. Thank you guys from Argentina 🇦🇷
Hi, sugah! Happy New Years! Thank you so very much. So happy you enjoyed watching and got something from it. I believe they are definitely one of the best bands in history! ♥
I’m 56 years old and Pink Floyd is one of my favorite bands and animals is in my top three top albums I have a 16-year-old son and I used to play Pink Floyd animals for him when he was a a toddler from age 2 until he was about 7 or 8 years old, to help him fall sleep. the other day he called me and told me that he was watching a UA-cam reaction video on Pink Floyd animals. It was your reaction video and he said that he had a memory rush come flooding back to him. and he remembered being a little kid and me playing this song for him every night to go to sleep. He said he started crying because he did not understand how he could not remember that until this exact moment when he saw your reaction video, it also made me very very happy to know that my 16-year-old son remembers something like that from when he was a toddler. Needless to say he loves Pink Floyd now and he’s been listening to their whole catalog portfolio and even though there is a big age gap between us because I had him when I was 40 years old , this has given us something tremendous to share and experience and pass down my love of Pink Floyd and Classical Rock and Roll….thank you, thank you … thank you!
The first time I heard this album was soon after it's release, sitting in my Uncles bunkhouse smoking copious quantities of weed and drinking Boones Farm, Strawberry Hill. The album blew my mind then. Still does, all these years later. A perfect example of how "force" in music does not require 250bbm. The ultimate soundtrack for melting into your chair.
@@flake1569 Liar. Dogs was written as the other side of the album with Shine on You Crazy Diamond was on. It's about the record industry. Pigs on the Wing is written about Rogers' Marriage. Sheep was written years before the album came out and had a different name. In Animal Farm dogs represent the military while Pink Floyd's dogs represent businessmen trying to work their way to the top. Thematically the only things the two have in common is that Sheep represent followers and Pigs represent corrupt power, both concepts are ubiquitous in humanity, the former all the way back to the bible, and both predating "Animal Farm." Floyd's sheep aren't even the common people. They represent high society followers. Theory refuted.
@@johnsaunders1116 Nope. The three pigs in question have nothing to do with Animal Farm. He names two of the three pigs. They are Margret Thatcher and Mary Whitehouse.
For me this keeps growing on me over time, its the perfect balance of Roger Waters' rage and edgy/sinister, strong voice and concept and hard and heavy bass, Gilmour's melodic voice yet punchy, emotional guitar feel adds such a nice balance, with Rick's stellar playing adding a unique atmosphere and such intricate drum work from Mason. It is also soooo good live. This is Floyd at its rawest.
I love this album and I love this song. IMO it's about a society that forces one to adopt sociopathic principles to get ahead in life. Living with these principles separates one from their humanity and takes a spiritual and physical toll (the metaphorical "stone"). Floyd songs can usually be interpreted on many different levels. There is the literal meaning of the song, but usually its also about society and has personal meaning.
Animals. I see the creatures as: Pigs - the politicians and bosses, Dogs - their enforcers and muscle men, Sheep - the people :) the whole album is to my ear the technically best PF record. Needs a complete playthrough; it's all one piece. Music: the Universal language that connects us all....
Dogs: people who only look out for themselves, who lie and deceive and will end up alone because of all the selfish things they did Pigs: people who point fingers, feel morally above anyone else nad tell others how to live their lives, but its all just a facade, a deception because after all they are pretty similar to the Dogs Sheep: everyone else thats how i understood it
Born early 70ies and having grown up by the age of 5 with PF Iam nearly 50 years ahead of you with this band. It's not may favourite band (for many minor reasons) but when it comes to alltime favourite albums, PF Animals is very close to top 10, competing with my very favourites. Picking one song from the album is difficult as it is a must do full album listening. My personal reaction to parts of Dogs is still very close to yours, Sistah - after so many years. So grab the album and do the other 4 tracks reaction quickly and don’t miss too much time left to listen to this masterpiece. 😊
Thank you for such an amazing rection video. I love different music for different moods. And Pink Floyd addresses one of those moods. Love how intelligent their music is.
David is usually such a player who takes your emotions on an uplifting journey.... But on this album he plays some on the most dirty and nasty lead breaks I have ever heard him play. The whole album is just one complete gem, as you would expect with Floyd..... And of ALL of their albums, if I had to pick only one to play for the rest of my lfe... this would be the one... Keep on Rocking.
Thank you so much for this. Sistah, I was feeling everything along with you. I have yet to find a listening buddy to listen to Pink Floyd with but, this was close enough. Your reaction matches mine. BTW listen to the whole album. It's beautiful
My first time experiencing this album was also my first time tripping on LSD. In 1978, some high school friends and I were visiting an order friend who had his own apartment. We were all gathered in his "black light" room, passing the bong around, when somebody put this on the turntable. We all just hung on for dear life, not knowing exactly what we were hearing. Needless to say many minds were blown and all our musical horizons were greatly expanded. Music was never the same for me after that experience.
That’s why we love you guys you are intelligent informative experienced and emotional. You are both very lucky to have each other makes for a great musical experience.
Yes this is a wonderful thing. I appreciate the tears of joy and sadness all at once. I feel the same. I was seeking the truth when I discovered Pink Floyd in the 1980s. They never disappoint.
Just came across you guys and had to say you both have really moved me both as reactors and the way you describe your videos. Love ya both. Please keep making videos
So surprising but also great to know that this is the first time for the both of you exploring this era of Pink Floyd. Animals is a brilliant album, and to this day it rings true in every aspect. I can’t wait to see you react to “Shine on you crazy Diamnonnd” the looooong version. ❤️🔥🏴☠️🤘🏾
I don’t really comment on youtube, or anywhere else really, but here I go. I’ve discovered you guys 3 years ago going through a rough patch, just before I enlisted in the army, I’m from eastern europe, which specific country is not important.Ever since then you guys were two platonic friends of mine, I’m so grateful that I could laugh with you, cry with you, even scream with you guys, simply experience the mirage-like wonder of human connection through music, my father died of cancer last week, but not as another sad and lonely old man, quite the opposite. Pink Floyd, and especially this album was our common favourite. The last few days were pretty hectic, but this night happens to be unusually calm, which, although gives us respite, always freaks me out a bit😅. I think what I want to tell you is you guys are a little piece of home and bliss for me, sitting in my “forward observation post”, basically a glorified foxhole😅 smoking some red Luckies and drinking Capri sun, provided by my all-American squad-mate from Colorado :D, much love and all the hugs to you guys from a forest somewhere near Mordor❤
Hi beautiful :) I am so very happy that you feel connected to us. Yes, we are your friends from afar . You have touched my heart with your words. I am so sorry to hear of your loss, but so happy and comforted to know that he passed peacefully. Your father will live on in your heart, thoughts and through the vibrations from the music you both loved and enjoyed together. Thank you for sharing. Sending you so much love good vibes (((hugs))) ♥
One if the cruel ways of disposing of unwanted puppies was to put them in a bag weighed down with stones and throw them in a river. The stone pops up in the wall in hey you with the lyric, hey you would you help me to carry the stone..So in Dogs the stone weighs you down and causes your end and in the wall its the wall of stones that destroy you.
I didn't have liner notes for my little cassette tape back in 1977....so I had NO clue what any of these songs were about. I just dug the sound. Listening on my $100 Radio Shack brand stereo & my cheap headphones....& I loved it. I'm pretty sure that 'Sheep' was my favorite track at that time. Possibly my favorite Pink Floyd album. The one I still find myself listening to more often than others. But it varies.
Another Floyd fan being created... Love your responses and appreciation to what the band would hope for I'm sure..... Listen to the albums start to finish on your own.. They stories inter twined like a stage, theatrical play etc... One of my favorites is Division Bell album...
It took a brain to shoot something like this. I am simply speechless, so much slow preparation for the part of the song before (And when you loose control ....) the part that keeps repeating and that you can't wait to hear again. I often play it on the bass guitar and I feel like I'm in seventh heaven. Simply fantastic. I've been hearing Floyd since I started high school there back in 1972.
Their reputation-making trio of albums-Dark Side, Wish You Were Here and this one (and some would add The Wall, which does have some exquisite songs) are deservedly part of the history of rock. They found a beautiful and rather unique way to transcend the blues so prevalent then, yet retain the soul, as they explored further electronics, beats and lyrical concerns. It's important to know about them in the general history of music, but as we all know, it's also tons of fun to listen to. There's very little live music they released from that era, so the albums are the way to go. As an aside, if shards of shred appeal to you (as they do I) and you are not yet familiar with them, Yes produced some scorching pieces around the same time, cleverly mixed into astonishingly, other-worldly beautiful songs (and also likewise deservedly in the History of Rock), and King Crimson, active until recently, have made a career of precise immolation since 1969. And cheers, this is one of life's wonderful journeys-the heart of Pink Floyd itself!
I haven't listened to my copy of this CD for a few years. I'd forgotten how good it is, especially D Gilmour's appropriately snarling guitar tones on this song.
Went to Battersea power station two weeks ago its now a huge shopping mall. I am old enough to remember seeing the giant inflated pig between the chimneys . Till it broke free and messed up the airline flight paths. Animal's is still imho an under rated album from Floyd
Thank you for sharing with us. The band is NASA engineering specs tight on this cut. A notable example of them not only giving you what you want, but also a heaping helping of what you need. Great song. May be their best album, certainly the most under-rated.
Animals album is inspired on George Orwell's novels like 1984 and Animal Farm, it speaks about the corruption and social injustice that was prevalent in 1970's Britain, with pigs, dogs, and sheep symbolizing the aristocracy, military, and working classes, respectively. the album's lyrics describe various classes in society as different kinds of animals: the predatory dogs, the despotic ruthless pigs, and the "mindless and unquestioning herd" of sheep. The whole album is a masterpiece and probably one of my favorite albums of all times, so if you can react to the rest of the album, it'd be perfect. Pink Floyd albums are designed to be listed to as a whole as the songs are connected to one another and it kinds of turns into one big song. Great reaction by the way, it's very refreshing to see reactors actually feel and enjoy what they're discovering, it was a pleasure to watch! 👍
The artwork on the cover is the Battersea Power Station. There is an extra building added to the left side of the Power Station, so if you look at the entire image, the buildings resemble a dead sheep, on its back, with all 4 legs pointing up to the sky. The pig balloon's name is Algie.
I had never really thought about it, until...My wife and I were taking the train into london, and she said, handing me headphones and ipod, and said "listen" Animals of course, I was diggin' it..after about 5 minutes, she said "look to the right"...and whoa!
This is their best work. It's too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw around. What great lyrics. The album is loosly related to George Orwells Animal Farm
WolfKain - your analysis of this song is spot on! And YES - it's hard to quantify what each person did. But they all amounted to the SOUND of PINK FLOYD. Roger is to me, the coolest rock star to ever exist. Hands down.
Great to see You Two in the moment, all the feelings, personally I don't know how people don't cry more when listening to EPIC Music. This Album is a Masterpiece, the 70's were a great time.
Aw yeah! Bookmarking this one to watch with my 6-month-old pup, Gilmour, after work. He's heard it a few times and tends to lose his shit during the robotic barking part. Hope you and yours are well. You're wearing the shirt :)
He fooled my little pup. She would sit up and start howling along with the dogs. Her fav song. She's long gone, but when I hear this, it always brings back a good memory of my canine companion.
I recently bought the book that inspired this album Animal Farm and the part that says I confess I'm a little confused sometimes I feel like I've been used refers to the boxer horse That he was the one who worked the most and was useful for the pigs
Animals was released in 1977, between Wish You Were Here and The Wall. In fact, while in tour in support of Animals, several incidents occurred that inspired Roger Waters to write The Wall. Many, many Pink Floyd fans consider Animals to be Pink Floyd’s best album. Also, Syd Barrett is only on Pink Floyd’s first album. He released two solo albums (which are amazing) before disappearing from society.
Gilmour's guitar here IS a dog, who, without words expresses it's feelings with barks and howls, whimpers and yelps. This has to be intentional. How many guitar solos in Dogs? Four? Each one sounds to me like a state of emotion: elation/aggression, fear, pleading, despair. They're all so perfectly converted into music. Incredible.
I remember listening to this when I was around 7 with my now late father, understanding this was different to any other music being currently produced. The musical journey and the strong rebel message against a strangling anti-human society touched me deep inside ever since. I cried with her. Blessings from Mexico.
What I love about this album is that it is massively negative and cynical nearly all the way through. But then the last few minutes completely annihilate all of this and redeem human nature. The Floyd is about my fourth or fifth favourite band, but they are tops for eliciting my emotional responses.

You keep goin, I love to see the emotion.
Thank you :) ♥
When my 22 year old son was an infant any time he used to cry all we had to do was turn on this song and he would stop immediately and just listen.
A bandmate came to my house with this album that was just released and a little piece of purple paper he put on my tongue and we listened to this album for a whole month that night😁✌
Yep buddy, for me it was double purple barrel ... wow, just wow...
@@goudan yep it was a sheet for me and a sheet for me.. 😂 we had a high tolerance at that point...🤯👀🤪 I had a wall size fish aquarium with a blue light behind and 2 large lava lamps and tropical fish 🐟🐠🐟🐠.. and we was running my studio turntable through my large fender 1500 so my neighbors also was listening to the album that night. I just they never thanked us for the free album review.
@@SIR-DanielHunter 🤣🤣🤣😜🤪
I get exactly what you mean when you say listened to it for a whole month that night.
this entire album, start to finish, is my go-to, late night roadtrip, everyone else in the car is asleep, nothing but 3 more hours of white lines and stars selection. it's a fantastic journey.
This album was what brought me into the world of pink floyd
Dogs has become my favorite Pink Floyd song.
Listening to Pink Floyd is like being taken on a journey. Once you open the door, you find yourself lead somewhere you never expected.
@@aeldin131 Gilmour had one decent album post Floyd and he had to put Floyd's name on it to sell it.
@@redrick8900 lol .. They put the name on it because they were/are Pink Floyd. And they produced 3 albums after Waters not one ..and they were all exceptional. These guys don’t really care all that much about “selling” more records, they’ve already made all the money and achieved all the fame.
This is my favorite Pink Floyd song. I understand the tears x
I know every album, every song, every note of every song, it took some time but it was worth it
I’m 56 years old and Pink Floyd is one of my favorite bands and animals is in my top three top albums I have a 16-year-old son and I used to play Pink Floyd animals for him when he was a a toddler from age 2 until he was about 7 or 8 years old, to help him fall sleep. the other day he called me and told me that he was watching a UA-cam reaction video on Pink Floyd animals.
Beautiful story, thank you for sharing it 🖤 As I write this I'm listening to you sing Gretta Van Fleet lol, you have a good voice ✊🤘
I'm surprised you remembered all that after the Boone's...
You are a wordsmith sir. Well said.
250bpm??!!! what the hell are you listening to?
Great video, guys. This song is out of this world. Waters and Gilmour at their peak.
*Arthur Carlson:* "Do I hear dogs barking on that thing?"
*Dr. Johnny Fever:* "I do...."

Thats the power, the magic of music, of Pink Floyd and David Gilmour! Priceless!
The song is a masterpiece. But the last part, when Roger Waters came in, is absolutely insane. He made all the lyrics on this album btw.
Fantastic reaction. This Album based on the George Orwells „Animals Farm“.
It isn't. That's BS.
It was based on Animal Farm.
Thematically the only things the two have in common is that Sheep represent followers and Pigs represent corrupt power, both concepts are ubiquitous in humanity, the former all the way back to the bible, and both predating "Animal Farm."
Floyd's sheep aren't even the common people. They represent high society followers.
Theory refuted.
Pigs (Three Different Ones). Snowball, Napoleon, and Squealer come to mind🤔
You never have to apologize for feeling music, especially crying listening to Pink Floyd.
Pink floyd es otro nivel de otro planeta.
Great reaction! I'm not sure what's better, the reaction to the music or the dynamic you two have in your relationship. Love your videos!
Thank you so much!! ♥
I'm glad to see someone cry for me during the solos.. what a masterpiece!
If you loved this you guys should definitely react to Pigs (Three Different Ones) and Sheep from the same album
Love how she just feels everything so deeply always a real music lover right there!
Animals. I see the creatures as: Pigs - the politicians and bosses, Dogs - their enforcers and muscle men, Sheep - the people
:) the whole album is to my ear the technically best PF record. Needs a complete playthrough; it's all one piece.
Music: the Universal language that connects us all....
1984 👍
Dogs: people who only look out for themselves, who lie and deceive and will end up alone because of all the selfish things they did
Pigs: people who point fingers, feel morally above anyone else nad tell others how to live their lives, but its all just a facade, a deception because after all they are pretty similar to the Dogs
Sheep: everyone else
thats how i understood it
when you really listen to Sheep you understand your meaning of sheep is correct
Awesome reaction guys. I love music that can make us cry. The power of emotion in just a few chords and lyrics can be so incredible
This masterpiece holds your attention for 17 minutes of wonderment. Meanwhile you, never missing a note or a word, all you want is more.
One the greatest bands and one of the greatest songs ever! Absolutely mesmerizing and beautiful!
That’s why we love you guys you are intelligent informative experienced and emotional. You are both very lucky to have each other makes for a great musical experience.
Thank you, love :) ♥
Yes this is a wonderful thing. I appreciate the tears of joy and sadness all at once. I feel the same. I was seeking the truth when I discovered Pink Floyd in the 1980s. They never disappoint.
I'm so happy when people discover this album, and this song specifically..
Just came across you guys and had to say you both have really moved me both as reactors and the way you describe your videos. Love ya both. Please keep making videos
Wow, thank you! Love you, too! :-* ♥
A REACTION video in the most literal sense for sure.
Genuine? Not so sure
I love your reactions, I'm 71 yrs old and I have been listening to Floyd since 1965. But you guys are awesome, don't stop doing what you are doing
Hi beautiful :)
I am so very happy that you feel connected to us.
The Album is loosely based on the George Orwell novel “Animal Farm”!” A haunting album in which we are currently experiencing in our life!
Hi, Sistah and Wolf! You're lovely! Greetings from so far Brazil! 🙂
Greetings and thank you 🤗✊🤘
I totally understand this lady’s reaction ❤️🙏
Great presentation, y'all. The background is atmospheric in the most appropriate way. And everything else clicks. Keep on r'actin .
Animals is an incredible album, one of my favorites Pink Floyd ever made.
Another Floyd fan being created... Love your responses and appreciation to what the band would hope for I'm sure..... Listen to the albums start to finish on your own.. They stories inter twined like a stage, theatrical play etc... One of my favorites is Division Bell album...
Great review, incredible band, and channel thank you respect from 🇬🇧 x
Amazing reaction. Watching this Goddess made me wish I was hearing this masterpiece for the first time again.
I haven't even gotten past your intro, but boy are you in for a ride / surprise...
One of my favorite songs by the best band to ever exist.
David Gilmour's guitar playing can get very emotional to be sure.
That Theremin sound is a MiniMoog analog synth (kybd). Richard Wright could really play!
The album is loosly related to George Orwells Animal Farm
the line "you've got to be trusted by the people that you lie to"...says it all.
Halflifesistah needs protecting at all costs. Great reaction
:)) You are so sweet ♥
WolfKain - your analysis of this song is spot on! And YES - it's hard to quantify what each person did. But they all amounted to the SOUND of PINK FLOYD. Roger is to me, the coolest rock star to ever exist. Hands down.
She's feeling it, lol. As she should - its one of the better songs ever made.
This album pulls on so many emotions. Awesome album.
"Could they be in your top 20???".....Dear sister, that was the first/best laugh I've had all day...
One of my favorite shirts and I have you to thank 🤗❤✊🤘
It didn't occur to me when we first got it, but it's pretty rare to have all five members on a shirt at the same time ✊🤘
Fun fact.... the dog sounds were not actual dogs, but rather Rick Wright's amazing synth work.
Roger's voice in the end brings us right on the edge.
I love ur reactions. Btw there good masterpieces before dark side of the moon, like this one ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Being able to hear this song live has to be my greatest achievement in this life! I really thought I was going to die without doing it.
There is hope for us all. When people feel music like you guys.
Floyd's best album ... 😎
