People's opinions may differ on this, but I think the best way to earn rank is to earn it doing your time in the Fleet. Yes, ranking up by merit is earning it. But I think people need to put in the time before they get promoted. That way you don't end up with senior Marines who are not occupationaly competent.

How does choosing an MOS work? Would it be a different choosing process if I wanted to be a scout sniper? Also do you know anything about the process of becoming a marine raider and how you can even become one? I want to join the Marine Corps and become one of the best of the best. I’m 15 years old in the 9th grade, it may be a bit early to decide but I truly know this is what I want, I have three years of high school left to prepare myself. Do you have any extra info I’d need to know?
You go to meps and take the asvab test. The jobs you are able to take are based off your score. Scout sniper isnt an mos anymore but if you want to do that job you need to be a recon marine. I have been out for 10+ years but when i was in to get into marsoc you had to be at least a cpl and going to selection usually required a re enlistment.

I got mine for signing a 6-year, special enlistment contract called the Quality Enlistment Program (QEP) back in 1992. I was an idiot. 😂
