Sonically both this and the studio version are very similar, so you will not be disappointed. The video though, with him on the beach ,30 years younger..... that's is something you should definitevely check out. It' s iconic.
Helena Christensen is mesmerizing in that video. In my mind, on the day that video was filmed, she was the most stunningly beautiful woman on the face of the earth.
I met him a couple of times while working his shows at a small intimate venue. He’s a truly nice person. Kind of shy and very humble. He came out to the lobby after the shows to meet everyone. He stayed until the last person left and then had some wine. It was a truly beautiful sight to watch as he spent hours with his fans and admirers, just mingling.
@ I was pretty surprised. Usually, if the bands even meet fans, they’re with handlers and it’s a fairly quick, streamlined deal. It was much different with him. He genuinely cared, talked and just hung out with everyone for a long time. So much so that he almost became just another dude at the party. Good soul in that boy.
This classic song was used in the David Lynch movie 'Wild at Heart'. There are two versions of the MV - one with clips from the movie and another steamier version co-starring supermodel Helena Christensen.
Two very complementary guitar tones, very well played, with really nice reverb and quite a lot of compression. It just creates this lush cloud that everything else can float over.
This version is perfect, the official video version is perfect and the high def recording version is perfect... You cannot go wrong with Chris Isack!!! I became a fan when MTV first started, he played live between videos. He was funny as hell!!! Don't let anyone ruin your enjoyment and tell you what to think!!!!
Hi Biss. This is one of my all time favorite songs. Chris is an accomplished singer songwriter. This live version sounds no different than the studio sound; however, the music video is a bit hotter as you would expect. As far as where you might have heard this? Chris gives off Elvis vibes to me. Good quality singer and he's pretty good looking and his voice is smooth as silk. Thanks! 🎸🤓😍
This song was written by Chris Isaak but has been covered by lots of artists. It also appeared in the film Wild at heart. The video for this song is great if a little steamy!
The studio version sounds almost identical, and you get the sexy video on top of it. I think this is more impressive. He hits all those dissonant high notes perfectly. Amazing vocalist/musician.
Love this classic ballad. Probably you've heard the metal cover version by H.I.M. which is nice but this live version or even the studio album version is beautiful.❤
I bumped into Chris Isaak at FAO Schwarz in Atlanta in the early 2000s. I was shopping with my wife and son, who was about 2 at the time. My son got separated from me and he tugged on Chris' pants thinking he was me. My son was fine and left with me, but my wife almost left with Chris. Good thing it didn't come to punches as Chris was a lightweight boxer too.
@bandmaidfanATL, you are so lucky. I saw Chris Isaak in early 1992 at Center Stage Theatre on West Peachtree. I had front row seats, but never met him.
This one is easy mode; both versions are fantastic. You'll be happy to see the original video, and you won't think that this was lesser than that, because Chris is amazing live.
Great reaction as always Biss! The original music video is better as it is sensual, the setting is on the beach with a beautiful girl and his vocals are even more impactful. The first time I heard this play on MTV I went straight to the music store and bought the CD and never tired of listening to this song.
Lol someone famous. He is the original singer and songwriter too iirc. And I don't think there is a famous cover. You may have heard the original recording. It played a lot in the 90's-00s world wide. But this was his only major hit iirc. And the amazing thing about Chris was he sounded almost exactly the same in the original recording and live! That's how great he is/was then. Highly under-rated!
There are many covers of this so it just depends on the era that you grew up with as to who it would be that a person would have heard and to them they would be famous.
Hey, Jason! Lots of folks have covered this amazing song, though none were ever as popular as the original. One of the most sensual versions I've heard is by BETH ROARS ua-cam.com/video/7bAluPrWJxQ/v-deo.html I'd love to hear her do this as a duet with Chris Isaak.
Oh my darlin, the entire Baja Sessions album, is a VIBE! And I think you’ll love it This song isn’t from it, this was on “Heart Shaped World”, which is also a great album! Met Chris Isaac once in Atlanta, Ga. He was probably15-20 years older than me then, him in his 40’s and I was in my 20’s . He was famous from this song, the original, he was famous from Fire Walk With Me. I was in ATL to see a Cake show, as I recall, and he stole the show. I’ve met many celebrities, But none nicer and more interested in me than he was. I mentioned Baja Sessions as one of my favorite albums of the time and he wanted buying more than to hear what else I was interested in (noting similar) and actually pulled out a notepad and wrote down a few of the other albums I had mentioned to him. A real treasure
Heh! Yeah, it's worth watching the original video. I think the music sounds similar to this live performance, but the video itself is special. It co-stars a supermodel named Helena Christiansen maybe at the peak of her career then and was beautifully directed and shot by Herb Ritts, a noted celebrity and supermodel photographer of the day. And you'll probably never react to this Chris Isaak song, but I recommend listening to "Blue Spanish Eyes", one of my favorites. It's slow, melancholy, and fantastic.
“Somebody’s Crying” is a great tune also. By the way, he’s one of the officers in Memphis when Hannibal escapes his cage in “The Silence of the Lambs.” I think he’s the one that brings the step ladder into the elevator.
It is a beautiful song and a great song, as it is just about impossible to cover it badly if the singer has an ounce of feeling and has ever had their heart broken. Really enjoyed your reaction!
the studio version is almost identical to this live performance; like 95-98%. Not a bad thing by any means, the only big difference between this and the studio version is some tonal clarity on the vocals during the chorus (because layering) and the extra bells and whistles you get from studio mixing, like extra targeted EQ, compression and reverb, etc. (stuff that's effectively unnoticeable for the most part)
Saw him on New Years Eve in a club on Haight Street, in San Francisco, about 40 years ago. He is more polished in this video then he was then, but it was a great show
I agree with what the other reactors said this is just as good as the studio version and this is the first time seeing chris perform this live. And i urge you to see the studio version too?? Great reaction to❤
Saw him live at the BAMMYS (San Francisco like Grammys)… wore an all white suit like Elvis, completely lit with LED lights, playing guitar and walking through the crowd…. Great live performer
This song was so popular back in the day that there are a ton of covers everywhere. So, the likelihood of you having heard this before is pretty good. Three that I can name right off the bat are Corey Taylor, HIM, and Heather Nova. All pretty decent in their own right as well. The original is exceptional though. Since you like this, you ought to listen to "You Can't Do a Thing (To Stop Me)" by Chris Isaak also. It's an absolute gem and hella' sexy if that's your thing.
The sound engineer in this performance deserves a pay raise. The equalization of the instruments and vocals was perfect. Watch Blue Hotel in this same presentation. You are welcome.
This is the "I'm not dead yet" version. When this song first came out around 1990, he did a very sultry love on the beach video. He has a beautiful voice, singing in a nostalgic rockabilly style (Elvis, Orbison, Nelson, etc.). Check out "Blue Hotel", "Baby Did a Bad Bad Thing", "San Francisco Days", "I Want You to Want Me", and "Let's Have A Party".
Wonderful reaction, Biss. I adore when you fall in love with the songs you react to.☺ I've been a fan of this song sing Chris put it out and, you're right: this live version is way better than the studio version (which is great} - in my opinion. This beautiful song makes me think about my love and brings tears to my eyes because I love her so much.🥲
This is originally Chris Isaak's song, but it has been covered and used in media a lot! Chris Isaak always seemed like a pretty cool character to me, but if I'm being honest, I probably never really knew a whole lot about him outside of this song. This song was so huge when it came out though, for good reason, but also because the music video included him frolicking on the beach with Helena Christiansen, one of the top supermodels in the world at the time, which definitely caught the attention of boys of a certain age at the time, like myself. I'm one of the people that usually prefers when you do the studio version, but honestly, other than seeing the video, the studio version isn't that dramatically different than this version. This was definitely a career peak for Chris Isaak, but I'm not sure that this song was very representative of his music in general. It's been so long, and I probably only ever heard so much of his stuff, but just from his look, he had more of a rockabilly style (rockabilly is a word thats a contraction of "rock and roll" and "hillbilly", "hillbilly" is a disparaging term that generally refers to country people, but more specifically uneducated people that come from up in the hills and mountains, like Appalachia or the Ozark mountains, rockabilly is a pretty specific and niche genre of music and fashion that's a combination of early rock n roll and country music, that's often nostalgic of the 50s era style) that I think was probably more representative of his music. I remember he used to wear like those old Marty Stuart suits, which that reference is probably lost on you, but he's wearing the Hawaiian shirt in this one, but look at the style of his guitar and guitar strap, if that helps at all. Personally, I kind of dig that, and always thought he looked pretty cool, but I don't think it fits what most people assumed about him from this pop sounding song, and that most of his stuff was probably a little more country than they expected. Which is maybe why outside of this song, he was never really as popular as he could've been, but who doesn't love this song? It's one of the all time greats!
When this song was popular around 1990-91, I was enduring one of my greatest heartbreaks. Coming off of a previous heartbreak, i befriended a beautiful woman who was married. The connection between us was powerful and our mutual chemistry was off the charts. She started dropping hint bombs that she wanted more. I tried to ignore the hints. I was falling for her big time, and i was afraid that taking this relationship there would cause our relationship to implode and end completely. But the hints kept coming, and i convinced myself that i would lose her from my life either way, because i was just frustrating her by ignoring her messaging and not giving her what she so obviously wanted. So, i made the decision to let it rip, and we had an intensely passionate night of lovemaking. It was right before the Christmas holidays, and we didn't see each other for a week after. When we next spoke, she was distant and expressed feeling guilty for her transgression toward her husband and didn't want to see me anymore. She acted as if I had no reason to have such strong feelings for her and as if she never had any for me. What a wicked game you play, to make me feel this way What a wicked thing to say You never felt this way What a wicked thing to do To let me dream of you..... indeed This song was in fairly constant rotation for a while during this time in my life.
I have a few of his albums. Definitely check our more of his stuff. This album is my favorite, though. Just a lot of memories with this one. For me, it's hard to single out a song. For my tastes, he's fairly consistent in quality.
The little face at first biting its lips and raising an eyebrow. It couldn't be prettier ☺️. It's always nice to see you, your reactions are funny 😁. Temazo 👌hug 😋
Yes Biss🎉🎉🎉 the official video of this song it's a classic from MTV you must watch. The song it's so nice and i Loved your reaction as usual Miss Bisscute💓💓💓 thanks for this one.
I LOVE live versions too. I feel like Depeche Mode, their live versions have so much more life and energy than in the studio (and the studio versions are still great). But in this case, I've seen this performance before and it is beautiful, however...the studio version and video are also exquisite. A very sensual video with Chris (who looks like a Calvin Klein model) and Helena Christenson (who actually was a CK model). His vocal performance, the lyrics, and that pristine, languid guitar riff make for an all time classic ballad. I can sing this song...but I'll never have his hair ;)
Hi Biss. I was thinking about what you said about similar singing styles and I asked my AI what other artist gives similar vibes and this is what it said: Chris Isaak's sound is often compared to that of Roy Orbison due to his similar vocal style, particularly the rich, vibrato-heavy delivery and melancholic tone in his music; many consider Isaak to be channeling Orbison's style in his songs, especially his hit "Wicked Game.". So, there you go! 😎
*Chris Isaak* starred in *"The Chris Isaak Show"* sitcom, about 2001-2004 ①. I think this song was sometimes played on that. People have identified the movie "Wild at Heart" and the music videos. Further, I think he made guest appearances on TV shows. Maybe he was a good guest (the star of a sitcom, and a few well well known songs which he could sing)? Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year. 🎅🎉 ☮ ① I remember the mermaid more than the storyline.
Would you believe he was in Silence of the Lambs? The part where there's an elevator (trying not to spoil it for others), he's one of the SWAT officers.
Yes, yes and yes. Agree with every word of your reaction to this, awesome and yeah definitely check out the original, but this doesn't veer at all from the studio version, almost identical💖💖💖
It's a beautiful song, that makes people go weak at the knees, because of It's lyrics and harmonies. And the 90s music video is beautiful and steamy, that you have to watch again, a must song for any play list, or if you want to woe someone that you love. Either way it makes your heart skip a beat at its beauty.
Yes, you absolutely need to hear the studio version on the official video. All of us long-time Chris Isaak fans first experienced this song with the studio release and video. So any time we get to see him perform this live, it's a treat. It's ketchup on our fries, or syrup on our waffles. When you watch the original video with the studio version of the song, you'll know the difference. I love playing this on my bass, such a lovely song. Chris Isaak's vocals are sensational. Thanks for bringing a little joy to an old man's day. ❤
I would check out the official video, even if not for the channel. It’s one of the steamiest videos ever lol
Agreed, the official video with this haunting melancholy melody... very much worth a look, even if just on your free time
Agree…definitely check out the video
The music video is better than a live performance
Wear protection before viewing.
Sexy time video
This is one of the few songs, that you can't go wrong with both versions.
During movies I would hate to have you sitting next to me.
You couldn't escape this song back in 90-91...and the official video? Oh dear lord. 😳
Love starts with butterflies in the stomach, and ends in a dark room with a bottle of whiskey and this song on repeat.
Met him before as well in similar settings. Quality dude. 👍
Love.....Just Love.....😅😅😅😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤
Normally I would not say this but this video and the studio are equal. The official video is extremely steamy 🔥🔥🥵
Saw him in concert last year, he hasn't changed
This classic song was used in the David Lynch movie 'Wild at Heart'. There are two versions of the MV - one with clips from the movie and another steamier version co-starring supermodel Helena Christensen.
And he was used as an actor for *Fire Walk With Me* .
Chris Issac - baby did a bad bad thing. Another great song.
The live version of "Baby" has a wonderfully sleezy saxophone added that kicks it up to 11.
Lots of covers of this song!!! This is my personal favorite over the official video!🎵🎼🎶🎤🎙🎸🎧🎹🥁🔥🔥🔥
YES! DO THE ORIGINAL! PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE! 🖤🖤🖤
At this point, I just wanna see your reaction to the official video more than the song, haha😀
The music video broke my mind as a teenage boy.
Yes , you're right! This was good. The studio version is very special indeed. Seeing you react to this was a thing of beauty 😍 😍 😍
I had the pleasure to see Chris Isaak once in Ottawa in a 2000 seat venue. The dude has the voice of an angel ! No auto tune ... that's for sure !
ooh you should definitely check out the video!
Two very complementary guitar tones, very well played, with really nice reverb and quite a lot of compression. It just creates this lush cloud that everything else can float over.
With whammy bar play.
One of the most beautiful songs. Chris Isaak delivers it so well.
5:33 - "This is quality music" - absolutely
This live version is as close to the studio version as you can get! They both are great! The official video is steam city for sure! Muy caliente!
This song was written by Chris Isaak but has been covered by lots of artists. It also appeared in the film Wild at heart.
The video for this song is great if a little steamy!
i cannot believe
this is your first time to wicked game by chris!! awesome!!!
I've seen him live twice. His concert is awesome, so much fun. He seems like such a great guy too.
The studio version sounds almost identical, and you get the sexy video on top of it. I think this is more impressive. He hits all those dissonant high notes perfectly. Amazing vocalist/musician.
It does not get more 'Original' than this.
Its the best recording he made of this Song.
This is amazing and perfection live versión and the original song by Chris Isaak
I harmonize with his high voice.
I ran out of air at the same time he did at the end.😂
Oh I knew you were going to melt with this and him, haha. You did not disappoint. 🤣
The Finnish band HIM has made what is by far one of the best, if not THE best covers of this song.
You reaction was how I have seen a lot of women react to Chris Issak.....I saw him long ago and women were fainting. His voice is so amazing
H.I.M. did a cover of this, and it's been in several movies and television shows.
Wicked game was featured in the 90s movie "Wild at Heart" and since it has been covered a 1000 times. The original video was filmed by David Lynch.
This is truly an amazing anecdote 😄
@bandmaidfanATL, you are so lucky. I saw Chris Isaak in early 1992 at Center Stage Theatre on West Peachtree. I had front row seats, but never met him.
Chris Isaak and his performance on ‘MTV Unplugged’ is more than 🔥🔥🔥
This one is easy mode; both versions are fantastic. You'll be happy to see the original video, and you won't think that this was lesser than that, because Chris is amazing live.
He was actually on an episode of the tv show, Friends. This song was playing in the background.
Great reaction as always Biss! The original music video is better as it is sensual, the setting is on the beach with a beautiful girl and his vocals are even more impactful. The first time I heard this play on MTV I went straight to the music store and bought the CD and never tired of listening to this song.

The most famous cover I know is from H.I.M.
Some chick covered it a few years ago and it was “ok”. But not great. Tenacious D has the best cover of this song (and video)
Corey Taylor/ Stone Sour do a cover and it's good
Oh my darlin, the entire Baja Sessions album, is a VIBE! And I think you’ll love it
This song isn’t from it, this was on “Heart Shaped World”, which is also a great album!
Met Chris Isaac once in Atlanta, Ga.

“Somebody’s Crying” is a great tune also. By the way, he’s one of the officers in Memphis when Hannibal escapes his cage in “The Silence of the Lambs.” I think he’s the one that brings the step ladder into the elevator.
SWAT Commander.
Chris Isaaks songs are pure gold. I recommend "Blue Hotel" and "Baby did a bad bad thing" ...
and heart full of soul...
It is a beautiful song and a great song, as it is just about impossible to cover it badly if the singer has an ounce of feeling and has ever had their heart broken. Really enjoyed your reaction!
They are both stellar
Chris is just that good.
This looks like it was done in a session studio. They are really good, so it was probably their first take .
The video for the studio version is an iconic. It fits the mood of the song and I for us old timers, we remember it well.
I love your reactions and you are right this song is perfection!
the studio version is almost identical to this live performance; like 95-98%. I love this song
Saw him on New Years Eve in a club on Haight Street, in San Francisco, about 40 years ago. He is more polished in this video then he was then, but it was a great show
This version and studio version official video are equally superb no doubt about it
Trust me the official video studio version is also perfection
I agree with what the other reactors said this is just as good as the studio version and this is the first time seeing chris perform this live. And i urge you to see the studio version too?? Great reaction to❤
WILD AT HEART
Phillip Phillips did a version of this song on his first album. Really good.
Saw him live at the BAMMYS (San Francisco like Grammys)… wore an all white suit like Elvis, completely lit with LED lights, playing guitar and walking through the crowd…. Great live performer

It was sung in the Netflix series Lucifer, by Lucifer. His version is equally as erie and wonderful. It was also in the movie Wild at Heart
King of the Highway, is a really great song by Chris
The sound engineer in this performance deserves a pay raise. The equalization of the instruments and vocals was perfect.
Watch Blue Hotel in this same presentation.
You are welcome.
Clásico ✨🎵🔥🎧
lol...this is the RARE occassions where the live version is perfect,...but the official video is a majestic piece of art... the video is legendary
Yes please do the video version please.
I watched the official video MANY times as a young lad...ahem....Biss's reaction to it would be priceless. 😏
As far as I'm concerned you picked the right video 👍
Wonderful reaction, Biss. I adore when you fall in love with the songs you react to.☺
I've been a fan of this song sing Chris put it out and, you're right: this live version is way better than the studio version (which is great} - in my opinion.
This beautiful song makes me think about my love and brings tears to my eyes because I love her so much.🥲
Thank you, glad you loved the reaction
For sure do the original official video on your channel for the reaction. You and us both are in for a treat.

The song was used in a movie called "Wild at Heart" in 1990 something... Nicolas Cage was in it if you watch older movies!
When this song was popular around 1990-91, I was enduring one of my greatest heartbreaks. Coming off of a previous heartbreak, i befriended a beautiful woman who was married. What a wicked game you play, to make me feel this way
What a wicked thing to say
You never felt this way
What a wicked thing to do
To let me dream of you..... indeed
This song was in fairly constant rotation for a while during this time in my life.
We definitely need to see Biss re-create the original music video!!!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I have a few of his albums. Definitely check our more of his stuff. This album is my favorite, though. Just a lot of memories with this one.
For me, it's hard to single out a song. For my tastes, he's fairly consistent in quality.
The studio version is very similar. It's always interesting to see the musicians perform.
They are both good. 😎🫶👍
Thank you, glad you loved the reaction
I LOVE live versions too. I feel like Depeche Mode, their live versions have so much more life and energy than in the studio (and the studio versions are still great). But in this case, I've seen this performance before and it is beautiful, however...the studio version and video are also exquisite. A very sensual video with Chris (who looks like a Calvin Klein model) and Helena Christenson (who actually was a CK model). His vocal performance, the lyrics, and that pristine, languid guitar riff make for an all time classic ballad. I can sing this song...but I'll never have his hair ;)
Parra for Cuva released a cover with Anna Naklab on vocals in 2013. It's a dance track so has a little faster tempo.
This song was in David Lynch's film Wild At Heart from 1990.
① I remember the mermaid more than the storyline.
Would you believe he was in Silence of the Lambs? The part where there's an elevator (trying not to spoil it for others), he's one of the SWAT officers.
This live version is GREAT. But you will love the official video with the original studio version of the song.
Much better than the official video. Chris is a great bloke too.
You might be thinking of the cover done by Gina Miles on the Voice. She did a great rendition. Chris is wicked.
Definitely watch the video.
Just a beautiful perfect song that connects on all levels of feeling
I love this song. Played on a really good sound system, it really gives you the chills.
Another good song/video of his, from this same studio session, is Let Me Down Easy.......and his little dog makes a cameo appearance on stage😊
Thank you, glad you loved the reaction
