    I have a 98 durango sport and I was riding it on the highway the other day and some truck hauling a couple barrels drops a barrel and makes a dent in my front bumper and my radiator starts leaking. half an hour away from my house I stop at a friends house and he puts an egg in it and I drive it home without any issues. It's sitting in my driveway right now. Not sure where to buy a new radiator.

    Thank you for sharing. Where do you buy the transmission line cooler o-rings from? Dealer said they only sell the complete line at $98 and $92 each. Or maybe i can get the size of o-ring to buy separately.

    @ lonewolf6565 what part is different. the steps should be the same unless you dont have trans cooling lines. or if you have 4x4. but most of the steps should be the same. its the same model and style truck.

      @@Dsweetdesigns have a question if you don't mind.after replacing the radiator my dodge Durango is running too cool I've replaced the thermostat and the coolant temperature sensor .can you give me some advice

    Ok thanks. I found a radiator that comes with the transmission oil cooler already attached and I found another without the t.o.c. but it says that it has the external transmission oil cooler. Is that pretty much the same thing just without the actual toc????

    this is a great video. ...except that my 1999 Dodge Durango 5.9 litre looks NOTHING like this vehicle your working on. ...?

    I just replaced the radiator in my 1999 Dodge Durango. You referenced O-ring seals for the transmission lines. I have one hell of a transmission leak now. There were no O-rings when I disconnected them from the old radiator. Dodge says that there is no O-rings for the transmission lines. Your video references the Dodge Dakota. Is there a difference between the two vehicles?

    • @jerryguardado5610
      @jerryguardado5610 5 років тому +2

      You can get the o-rings from a transmission shop but usually you are doing this job when everything is closed. NAPA has an assortment of green silicone o-rings for air conditioning. These are perfect for the job albeit a bit expensive. They are impervious to most fluids including trans fluid. Good luck!

  • @Dsweetdesigns
    @Dsweetdesigns  10 років тому +1

    NO. The difference in price is probably because one is for a truck without a transmission cooler and the other is for one with transmission cooler. If yours has those lines you should get the one for your truck. There wont be a connection for transmission cooler lines if you get the one without. There would be no where to connect your lines.

    your 10 mm bolts on the radiator condenser will spin with the nut , due to the plastic placement for the bolt and nut house,so you might have to cut the housing to free up the condenser from the radiator, be very careful

    Can you replace the lower radiator support without removing the radiator completely?? lower support bent 4 wheeling and the new radiator will not bolt back in ...thanks

  • @Dsweetdesigns

    the transmission line orings can be matched up for the correct size at any part sstore. you can also buy a variety kit and match it up from there. no need to buy the line. thx.

    I was once told to to me how good I information hard to find

    I thank you for the time you took showing details and skill
    all thought the condenser if taken apart will be needing a vacuuming
    and will hope to most of us who don't have one to not need it
    as I have when my compressor cluch whent on me last summer and I broke the spindle making it no good thing replacement was needed I know it's off the path a bit ...... but you never know
    thought to add a detail to it
    no less the credit is due thank you

    Thank you for this vid. I was having some trouble grasping it fromthe repair manual alone. Have to get radiator off to do my waterpump AND power steering at the same time. (What luck.)
    *Grab some handheld shop LED's (the rechargeable kind) to help yourself film. Also turn your phone sideways and give us that cinema feel haha.

    Taking the bumper off { only 4 bolts } takes 5 minutes and makes the job a lot easier and then you can leave the bottom fan shroud on till after you take the rad out .

    I have a 99 dakota 5.2 magnum the radiator has the tans cooling system there too I went to auto zone to buy one but the radiator with the trans coolant is $310 and without it $160 can I buy one without it and just put the old trans coolant back on the new radiator???

  • @Dsweetdesigns
    @Dsweetdesigns  10 років тому

    No, Probably Not. Usually to replace a lower radiator support you have to remove the radiator, if for nothing else, to get access. Most of the time the lower rad supports are welded in, sometimes they are bolted though.
    sorry for the way delayed response. Didn't realize I had a comment recently.

    Can you tell me what part that is in front of the radiator? At 21:00 you can see it to the left of your finger. I need to replace this.

    Okay so I'm new to vehicular mechanical work and my radiator looks nothing like this one... 5.4 v8 99 durango slt... My reservoir is on the right side and I believe I have a connection on the left so I need a different type of radiator? Or one that compensates those lines? How accurate is this video for my radiator?

    • @youpeposloveme

      +Kenneth McCann On the '98 and '99 models, the radiator is mounted behind the brace and there is no electric assist fan.

    Great video; very thorough. Watched it to see how to remove my electric radiator fan. I think I can take it off the radiator without actually removing the radiator (I hope!). Only negative comment I have is that you shot the whole video vertically, instead of horizontally. Makes it really hard to watch as well as not showing the entire area you are working on. I am not complaining tho', as the content and commentary were very very good. Thank you!

      Great. I'll be checking them out. On the subject of the electric radiator fan. I was able to remove it without removing the radiator on my 2001 Dakota 4.7 V8. The only issue is the top bolt on the driver side. I was able to access it by notching out an inch and a half of the top curl on the fan
      bracket. On the replacement unit I simply made that notch with a Dremel before installing. It should have no structural issues, as it's simply a bit of the top curl. Made the job relatively easy.
