In this video, I show how I replaced the circulator pump on my solar system. it would be pretty much the same for anyone with a boiler that has zone heating using circulator pumps, this would not be quite the same for zone valve systems. I hope this helps you but keep in mind I recommend you seek professional advice before doing this or any of the project I do on this channel. This is how I change my circulator on my solar system it may be different for you on your boiler.
This was using a taco pump.

You just need a new cartridge or capacitor either one could be the problem.

Or just put on a whole new circulator. Thanks for commenting.

Taco Circulator pumps (unless in a few high pressured systems, which yours may be) are supposed to be installed with the cylinder running parallel to the floor. It may just be the camera angle that makes it appear this way, but it looks like you have the cylinder running parallel with the wall (pointing up and down)? I'm by no means a professional, just a homeowner who's researching a similar issue. This may have contributed to your issue? Either way I thought I'd share the info I had come across in case that helps you out. I believe it'd be as easy as turning your flanges a quarter turn since it looks like yours are threaded not soldered. (Here's the link from Taco that I got those ideas from: ua-cam.com/video/UvrR5ZAkf10/v-deo.html)

Very good point. It was not the issue for me, I ended up having a small leak. and yes they should be mounted the other way, as the way i have it will cause extra wear on the internal parts. thanks for bring that up and potentially helping someone else that may watch this video.

@@shanesmaineshop the bearings are water lubricated , so sometimes installing in these positions can cause an air bubble which will burn out the sealed bearing assy . Some bigger pumps which actually have a small tube that goes directly to the shaft to induce water to that area to cool it down and then the mounting positions can be changed . In your case you could of just turned the flanges 90* and been back in business.

Ryan Wong Thank you for the info, if I have any more issues with it and have to remove it I will certainly turn it the other way, fortunately I have not had any problems with them burning out.

@@shanesmaineshop ok brother, but simple fix - just cut your copper pipe and orient it correctly and resolder. Yea, pain to drain but worth it!
