Your videos helped me convincing my father to switch from a boring all-black configuration to mamba green paint in the process of ordering a Macan. His configured Macan also got built and sent to the Porsche Dealer, but he had the option to change the order to the 2nd Facelift after its presentation. He luckily now got his Papaya painted Macan about 3 months after ordering, the mamba green one found another happy buyer, too. So, you are partly responsible for TWO colorful Macans roaming through Germany now!
Try calling your toilet Jim instead of John. Then you can say the first thing you did after waking up was to go to the Jim. Then watch Nick’s latest vid and Bob’s your uncle.
The Mamba Green is a beautiful color. The fact that Porsche killed it only makes the existing Macans more valuable. The bonus is that car thieves would stay away from such unique color! Good to hear from you Nick.☺
Great vid Nick, love it when you’re just chatting about what you think and feel. It’s kind of a throwback to the video’s you did when you bought your first new C4S. This is what made you popular amongst Porsche enthusiasts, and it really is a strongpoint of yours. You don’t have to remember tot stay ‘you’, because it comes naturally. 😉 Just keep them coming, once in a while. We love them! Cheers & have a perfect stay in Kiwiland, atb Irwin 🦅
Very interesting take on your 993 with regards to how it feels compared to the newer 991 family cars. I've owned 3 air cooled 911's over the past 40 years. I had not owned a Porsche for a long time, so 3 years ago bought a 991. I recently sold it because I never really 'connected' with that car. I was offered exactly what I paid for it 3 years ago, so I sold it! It was a beautiful C2S; fast, sexy, beautiful, but I just did not experience the same feeling as with the air cooled cars. I think you artitucated well how the air cooled cars are so much fun to drive and own. The newer cars are very capable but very different cars overall. So now I'm thinking about another air cooled Targa, just like I used to own. My first was a 1977 911S Targa with the black trim. I should have kept that car, and the SC that came after it.
Nick, my man I love the fact you're into nice colors on your cars. I could swear there's a pandemic going on in the US where just about every upscale car (Porsche, Audi, MB, BMW) I see is either grey, white or black with black interiors and often black rims. I miss seeing nice shades of blue or green metallic with light interiors.
"4 or 5 tons" ... what are you carrying? ... Gold bricks!? 😁 Good on you lending your 993 to a clumsy friend. Blowing relays and destroying the stereo would have pissed me off!
I get what you mean about owning a slightly shitty car. I just bought a used Subaru Impreza as a winter driver. It's the first used vehicle I've purchased in many years and it has definitely been liberating not to obsess over how it looks.
perfect timing! I get to take a 21 minute and 30 second break from working on my income statement. I am sure my boss will understand since being in accounting, working with excel and watching a video about Porsches go well together.
FYI, I was given an allocation yesterday for a 2022 Macan S (Gentian Blue) with build date in January and delivery reportedly 3/11/22. Love your videos and honesty Nick.
You have got to give Macan more credit. It is the longest surviving (suffering and still surviving) Porsche at your hands.... Nick the Porsche killer !!!
Thanks for a great video! You helped me buy a new M2 in 2018, which I shipped to Australia last year. I just bought a 997.1 last week and I love it! Thanks for your 911 videos, really helpful.
Your videos are awesome. I picked up a 2013 Cayenne diesel, a unicorn for sure. It has some tech, but was maintained well by Porsche until I purchased at 106k on the odometer. I’ve only had one check engine for a failing injector which was replaced under the diesel gate gate criteria. Even with just 240 hp, it’s still able to push to 130 without a problem. Although not as agile or performance oriented as your Macan, it’s also getting 26 mpg in the city. It’s a classic and I plan to keep it.
Great video Nick, I am enjoying my 2021 Macan in Chalk. So comfortable and stable to drive. My Macan S in white/red is good too but I like the base ride better as I mentioned in my own video.
Always great to see a video from you Nick, where do you get these amazing car parks? we don't have ones like that even at airports, america huh!? keep well.
Great video, I love the green on your Macan. And totally agree about keeping the CD and tape player, I have done the same. Looking forward to the next one.
My 911 is now 22 years old. I like it better each day. The stone chips on the front of the car scream this car is enjoyed. My wife says it’s time for a new one but Your comments about worrying about it are right on. I do however think I will get the seat repaired!
Putting a new windshield is one of the single most rewarding and underrated things to do for a.... well used car. I completely agree with your take on sports cars. I would rather have my old 110 (on a good day) HP MGB than a new 911. I could push that car to the edge of it's performance all afternoon, where if I try that in a new 911 I get a few short 2-3 second spurts of acceleration before I am in "jail time" speed, which I do not enjoy. Have a great Christmas Nick!
Just placed my order for a new 2022 Macan S this Friday after receiving 1 of 5 allocations from my local dealer! Looking forward to getting it next spring!
I’m all for a bit of colour on a car Nick. My BMW is Sunset Orange, similar to the Sakhir you had on your M4 and I love it. It really pops in the sun, especially when it’s clean. Mamba Green looks great on your Macan. Good on yer mate for trying to brighten up the roadscape. Anything other than grey / gray that is just everywhere (UK here) is good in my book. I notice manufacturers seem to be trying to push colour now,. BMW has Isle of Man Green on the M3/4, the G42 M240i launch colour seems to be Thundernight (a purple), so there may be hope for a more colourful future.
Buying a 993 for more than 100k is just stupidity. Perhaps 🤔 a 993 RS Clubsport is worth a 100k. Love your video and I know what you mean when you talk about the feeling driving new Porsche sports cars.
I own a Macan and happy to do so. The problem with my car is this rattling sound that so annoying that I feel I want to sell it tomorrow. Car is 2 years old and has over 60 thousand km on and working fine. I also owned a 964, the car was the most beautiful car ever made from a design perspective and the shitiest when it comes to mechanics. Air cooled engines cooks themselves and the performer and Handling is not even close to good. Was happy to sell it
Great morning video! I bought the first year of the 991.2 and took delivery way back in spring of 2016. I am trying very hard to think of that car like you think of your 993. Alas, it only has some rock chips so a long way from comfortable ratty.
I was shopping for a car back in 2007 and tested a new 997 and felt way to serious when driving it. I actually found the Boxster much more relaxed and therefore enjoyable. Maybe says more about me than the cars themselves but nevertheless, agree with your comment.
Thanks for this explanation on allocations Nick - ( and deposit thieves !) I am desperately awaiting them here in Toronto not to get a 992 but to simply get the traded in 991 that the lucky “allocated one” trades back. Dear supply chain😅: I despise you.
Ordered a second generation Macan GTS beginning of March ‘20. Opportunity to upgrade to third generation was taken with build date in October which has now blown out to late November. Dealer says I might get delivery in January/early February. Longest time I’ve ever waited for a car. It better be worth it. Shortage of cars worldwide because of the lack of computer chips.
Nice cars Nick. I have a 991.2 gt3, 1982 911 sc and a Macan GTS 2020. Have a replacement Macan GTS on order but likely a 12 month wait. Glad you love the 993, great cars
I know what you mean about feeling comfortable in your Car. You do not want to be pretentious among other people. That is not me either I prefer to go for my more subtle and simpler Vehicle. I mean I enjoy getting looks and hollers wherever I go at times but other times I like to blend in more. I felt that. I probably would end up buying the newer 911 since i never owned one. I own a GTS Macan 2018 and a TLX Type S and both of them are just fantastic cruisers and bruisers. But sure i like to drive around the more humbler offerings. Ill love driving my 6 speed TSX its not as flashy but more of a daily it feels good driving it.
Thanks for the update, Nick. I actually recently bought a 968 to go along with my 3.2. The 968 came with the new Porsche classic radio. I’d probably use on a longer drive but mostly, I leave it off. Rather listen to the car tbh.
I totally agree about colour. I went to try get and order Papaya Macan but the wait times in Oz were too long so went on the hunt for something different in the gen 2 Macan (I also prefer the buttoned cabin over the haptic shiny new console) last week a Carmine red (base 2L) Macan popped up so I bought it… this means we now have a Miami blue and Carmine red in the family. Glad I held out cause in Australia there is a sea of grey white and black SUVs…
Great vid, Nick. And listen to yourself, you're happy with the cars you have at the moment. Why buy something that's overpriced and possibly over sticker in times of extreme turmoil? Perhaps you'd better pay off part of your mortgage, but that's just the prudent me talking. At any rate, please enjoy yourself with the nice cars you already have and thanks for the video.
Can’t agree more on the shitty Porsche experience setting one free. Had a Hank Moody 964 Cabrio that was rusty and all beat up, but the motor was tuned to 300hp, perfect running gear and a cup exhaust barking away. The car was crazy fun to drive, especially in a drizzle with top up, rear window zipped down and side windows half way down. It was like being out and about in your open boat with the top up cruising the waves on a rainy day. Loved it. Unfortunately I’m having sellers remorse over selling my lovely PTS Amethyst-94 C2 6spd Coupé back to its original owner. He’d always regretted selling the 993, the first new Porsche buy he did, and the car he drove his girls to kindergarten with for years. He even showed me the original invoice from 1994. Although I made a 15% premium on it over the 4 months I owned it, I just realized I’m NEVER going to get another 993 with that provenance and maintenance story as this one had. But it’s going back to a great home. 💜
Hi Nick. Thanks for another great video! Instead of permanently closing your store, likely because order fulfillment has become a nuisance, why not migrate your designs to a print on demand company that handles all of the printing, global shipping and customer service. You simply receive the profit, so very little time is required to manage the process. Using a POD company would also allow you to make more money by expanding the product line at no cost to include many additional items such as hats, mugs, water bottles, stickers, etc. Your designs are great, so I'm sure that many people would like to purchase not only t-shirts and stamps, but a wide variety of other items from you in the future. Printful and Printify appear to be near the top of lists when I Googled for the best POD companies. An advantage of Printful is that they can also warehouse and ship custom items such as your excellent stamps, that they don't appear to have in their catalog. I hope that this information is helpful. Since it's so important, I would be grateful if you could acknowledge having read this message. Thanks.
Thanks for the video, Nick. Just a note on PPF. Goodness me, I see so many expensive cars following too closely behind other vehicles. You may as well throw a fist full of rocks at your car driving like that. No one asked, but if they did, I’d recommend keeping a distance of four or more car lengths between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you, especially on the highway. Your car will suffer minimal road rash, less brake wear, and fewer accidents. Now, I may be a cheap SOB or just lucky, but I don’t have PPF on my 991.1 C4S, yet I haven’t noticed any paint chips driving in this manner, KOW. In the words of the great Walter Sobchak, am I wrong?
You can get stone chips from cars coming from the opposing lane also at lower speeds. You may have been lucky. PPF is the way if you care about your paint.
Great video, correct the Macan is not a Sport Car but it is probably one of the best Sport Utlity Vehicle ... BTW, not sure about the number 4 added at the back ...
I have a hard time calling a Macan a beautiful car, but that green is lovely. I'd absolutely get a car in that color. But I have a yellow Corvette so what do I know.
I don't know what to say about you and Porsche. I've had my '19 C4S since 1/19 and over 17k miles with zero problems. The worst that has happened are nails in tires, both rears and one of the front. It's running better now than when new, the engine is fully broken in and the manual gearbox is getting smoother. Go figure.
Nick, if you don't want to get rid of your 993 cab you might consider getting the D. Moris Styling hard top for it. Easy to install and does not remove the factory motors for the soft top. Let me know if you'd like more information or photos as I actually have this installed on my Ocean Blue 993 cab.
I'm surprised to hear your comments about the sportiness of the Macan. Farah has been on record many times praising the Macan as the leader of driving dynamics for compact SUVs. Maybe those comments are best fit for the GTS. The speed he carried in his GTS video was impressive. Enjoyed the vid.
Wish I had room for a beater sports car in my garage. Hate to admit it but my current sports car is a garage queen which drives my heart rate to the moon just worrying about shit when I do drive it. I too miss the rawness of early two seaters. Wish I still had my 944s, MGB, Lancia Beta coupe and the other small sports cars I’ve had.
Nice video Nick! Sports car or not I love my CTT12 and to be honest I have had very little problems in my 6 yrs of ownership now… ok I kept her under Porsche approved warantee but that is something I do with all the porches I owned….. Good to see your car ownership update video… I noticed some grey hairs 😇 glad I am not the only one ☺️👍
I feel the same about my ‘89 W124 300E M103 @ 337km. 22 years of ownership, its watched several other 4 wheel garage partners and normally girls, come and go 🤣
Nick - agree with you entirely….sports cars are supposed to be small and nimble and you should need to work for the power a bit. AND…..they should have three pedals! Enjoyed the video as always. Enjoy your trip home and enjoy driving your e30!
Hey nick be cautious with the 993 also it's a great car, I still would avoid parking next to others in parking lots.. Someday it might be mine, dont abuse it.
Good to see you Nick! It's been awhile! And you're looking very fit! Thanks for the update, you should get a 993 turbo Coupe whale tail. Remember it's an investment! Cash out your 401K and you can afford it. keep up the good work my friend
OMG, totally agree on automotive colours...what the heck is it with white and black, grey...snooze fest. I sometimes look around while commuting and there are 6 white vehicles around me...
Reeeeealy nick, a girl ... Reeeeealy - common! On a serious not just drove a mamba Turbo and here in Germany there are actually quite a few people getting mamba. Funny thing though we were the worst at the white, grey, black game.

I absolutely enjoyed this video especially your License plate cover at 19:28 made my day.

A quintessential Nick video. funny, irreverent and self deprecating kiwi humour. love the content, thanks.

Wow, fall in Connecticut looks very lovely. I appreciate the neighborhood tour. Heidi

Nick your videos are always just pleasant and fun. Watchable multiple times. Dang now everyone’s going to bidding on those 993s I want!
Too late. Everyone is already bidding on those 993s we all want!
I’ve never seen a macan 4s… so sweet!!

“Completely shat itself” is a much underused automotive term that needs more airtime in my opinion.

The 993 is about Hank Moody's 964 level of beat up. I see the logic behind this, Nick. 😀
Californication reference! Hank Moody's 964 was indeed dreadful.

If a "C" is considered average, and your check engine light every 3 months deserves a rating of "B-" I'd hate to see a D or lower! ;)
When it comes to Porsche, they're graded on a curve.

But it’s going back to a great home. 💜
Dear Nick, Now you know how Owning a GM IS !!! check engine light and/or ABS light every 3 months welcome to the Club :0) All the best
Great description of “thrilling”, mate!!
Thanks.
Thank you
The shit show that is Porsche allocations. I love it!
One of my good friends in the Porsche Club was ordering a Mamba Green Macan S, until they removed it, so now she's going for Miami Blue.
Whooooa! You lost me at "Leave the top down when I wash it!" Haha that's hilarious 😂
Ah, yeah, very true. I once got a cracked windshield driving a rental passing another vehicle going the opposite direction.
Great video, correct the Macan is not a Sport Car but it is probably one of the best Sport Utlity Vehicle ... BTW, not sure about the number 4 added at the back ...
I was loaned a Macan in that colour by my local Porsche dealer while my 981 was in the shop. They called it Kermit!
They can go fast that’s for sure but they are heavy so it always ‘for an SUV’ it is an important distinction. A hippopotamus can go fast as well
This one was hilarious, Nick 😂
Safe travels home. Hope it's a good visit.
I was suppose to leave early for work, but I can't say no to a Nick Murray's video.
I agree the Macan isn't very sporty, but it's a good city car because of its size, it drives nice, and it's pretty manageable all around.
22 years of ownership, its watched several other 4 wheel garage partners and normally girls, come and go 🤣
Nick, followed your lead got a mamba green GTS (from your dealer)!
I don’t know why this video is enjoyable to watch….but it is
Let’s get this guy to 1M subscribers. Keep up the good work.
No no, Nick. Those nails aren't from the building site..... ***evil laugh*** ;-)
OMG, totally agree on automotive colours...what the heck is it with white and black, grey...snooze fest. I sometimes look around while commuting and there are 6 white vehicles around me...
Regular content ? Nick .... your content keeps me regular .
You need a Blaupunkt Heidelberg! The 993 is the most beautiful car Porsche has ever built.
Everything Nick touches gets slaughtered🤣
always somthing to learn here.....did not know piranhas fancy barbeque sauce...
Reeeeealy nick, a girl ... Reeeeealy - common! On a serious not just drove a mamba Turbo and here in Germany there are actually quite a few people getting mamba. Funny thing though we were the worst at the white, grey, black game.
