I loved the editing decision to put a silver flare for blade contact and a red flare for a good hit. Made it wonderfully easy to follow the action with such a minimalistic technique
HEMA practicioners have been insisting for years that, though stage fight is more dramatic, a good squirmish simply with the techniques is as beautiful and visual as the enactment.
@@romaroalte2645 Quite a few, both on video and live. Mostly longsword and messer, though, as that is what my club does primarily. I had a brief dip into rapier, though. Damn, my thighs hurt when just thinking about it...
My jaw literally dropped several times while watching this. Mouth wide open, staring at the screen, by myself in my room. The footage is brilliant, no doubt, and the editing DOES IT JUSTICE. Absolutely beautiful.
I hadn't realised until now that our fencing school had a youtube channel, much less having such great content and so many followers from all around the world. Great work and keep going!
Gotta love your work guys! I think a HEMA video featuring epee and sports sabre would have been unthinkable 5 years ago in the historical fencing community. This holistic approach is what I've been dreaming of since I started. Fencing is one and the same with all of its different disciplines - it's a confrontation between two "prosthetic" (weaponed) humans. And you also make it very enjoyable to watch!
The long sword is indeed awesome but funnily enough it only remained a relevant weapon for around 150 years (1350 - 1500), compared to the arming sword which remained relevant for around 600 years (900-1500).
Fajnie się obserwuje Wasz progres. Z filmu na film montaż, praca kamery, światło są coraz lepsze❤️o skillach szermierczych nie wspominam bo to klasa sama w sobie. Oby tak dalej!
This is fantastically edited. The hit "markers" make it so easy to follow exactly what's happening, and your use of slow motion is brilliant. If I watch unedited sparring, I have to watch an exchange several times to actually see what happened - but with this editing style it's apparent straight away. Very viewer friendly. Also, I love you showing some "organic" sparring; and there were some really cool clips in this video. Realistically choreographed fights can be great, as can demonstrations of specific techniques, but it's easy for it to all get detached from the the actual focus of all of this; the fighting itself
I used to do Sports Saber in College. So much fun! With the great music, it's a bittersweet memory trip. Thanks for uploading in these times, cheers from Canada!
Hello Akademia Szermierzy! I found your channel by chance from you Aug 13, 2016 video "Akademia Szermierzy - Fior di Battaglia (medieval longsword techniques)". Glad that I found your channel because your work seems really great to me! That video was awesome and I wish I could see more of such awesome style and techniques in movies/video games in medieval/fantasy settings more often. Glad to see you guys are still at it!
Honest to God, I could watch your longsword sparring for hours. There's nothing wrong with the other swords or your fencing, I've just been enjoying longsword fighting lately.
I cant' imagine a more perfect setting. Great music, as always. Cool to show all the weapons in sequence. Some of the most epic exchanges I've ever seen. Another awesome video from the Akademia
This is the most beautiful Polish song I've heard. At first she was singing English, than when she started singing Polish, I was like Polish? Oh yeah, it's a Polish channel 😂
This video is simply cool. Good job everyone! Akademia Szermierzy has consistently demonstrated that it knows how to combine raw talent with artistic creativity to make really freaking cool content. Bravo! 👏👏👏
Homie in the black adidas was really good with the one-handed swords. Dude in the white shoes was money with that long sword. Awesome sparring video, nice editing with the hits.
The épée and sabre stuff they do during roughly the first half of the video is olympic fencing. However, due to being HEMA practitioners, they don't rush in as sabre fencers usually do because of the right of way rules in sabre.
@@arthurweiss7361 well ,you wont find something like this while watching an olympic fencing highlight....it last for like 3 seconds and then reset 😂,it is indeed impressive....but not as entertaining as this Tbh
@@robbyakbarsyah Not sure I understand you well. Epée is know for very long phases where nothing happens, and both fencers observe each other, trying to find the right time to attack. Obviously they edited those out of this video, because there is a cut at the end of each action. Sabre on the other hand is indeed over in 5 seconds, due to the right of way rules that basically give advantage to the attacker, but I'm not sure they used them while fencing here, which might explain why they don't charge at each other like madmen.
Thank you for this great video. This beautiful Song from 1997 i never have heard without you..wow so good, espacially for this purpose. Like the polish version most!
This footage is gorgeous. Watching you guys fence wants me to go again and fence myself. Really liked the flares that are used to show Hits. Added a Lot of managebility in seeing when the Blade hits either Blade or Body. Can you guys Tell me what gloves you use for Longswordsparring?
2:18 literally the reason that i think fabris is the most satisfying rapier system to watch, i can just imagine to satisfying thatd be to perform also, i think your military sabre is really just polish sabre with lunging
Okay. If I ever get into a duel with longswords, I know my move. 4:20 onwards. Hold sword more or less horizontal, keep cross guard horizontal, long thrust. Would be my best chance for survival because I probably can't pull off any other move.
I love this video. The more I watch it , the more convinced that sport sabre should do away with right of way to make it more enjoyable and closer to it's predecessor. Granted my bias as a former sport sabre fencer has a lot of influence on my opinion.
all this series is beautiful and I really love your skill. Just one note about the videos in the open country: they seem to me overexposed maybe half a stop
This is is beautiful as always. I come from an MMA background and these videos have inspired me to take up HEMA. And WHO is this wonderful singer??????
I loved the editing decision to put a silver flare for blade contact and a red flare for a good hit. Made it wonderfully easy to follow the action with such a minimalistic technique
0:26 - Epee
1:12 - Sport Sabre
2:07 - Rapier
2:52 - Military Sabre
3:57 - Longsword
0:00 through 5:40 - Fantastic Swordsmanship
We need guys like you in films and tv series 🤧😪
HEMA practicioners have been insisting for years that, though stage fight is more dramatic, a good squirmish simply with the techniques is as beautiful and visual as the enactment.
Honestly probably one of the best uses of lens flare I've ever seen.
2:35 - about the coolest actual exchange of blows I've ever seen
Also 4:58
But how many you've seen?
@@romaroalte2645 Quite a few, both on video and live. Mostly longsword and messer, though, as that is what my club does primarily. I had a brief dip into rapier, though. Damn, my thighs hurt when just thinking about it...
Uh, what about the insane handwork at 4:50?
The fact that it's not scripted makes it even cooler
5:03 Longsword mind powers to overcome your opponent.
DUDE 1:06 that deflect behind the head was so cool

And in green nature it's just fantastic, never dry, never boring!
Perfect combination of video and audio. You make HEMA look so attractive that I think this video can reach a lot of new guys. Thanks
4:50 to 5:00 some of the most intense and awesome sword fighting i have ever seen!!! I wish movies were that good! Hell YES!
I second that! Especially the long blade contact session
For reference its called handwork.
Guys, i can watch you 1000 times again and again, you are true artists
Longsword is just the coolest.
The long sword is indeed awesome but funnily enough it only remained a relevant weapon for around 150 years (1350 - 1500), compared to the arming sword which remained relevant for around 600 years (900-1500).
Bret Alvarez but weren’t longswords used for fencing after 1500 commonly by germans?
Kriegsmesser gang
The gladius lasted for more than 1000 years.
That was one of the best, and most entertaining, sparring videos I've ever seen!
Some of these exchanges were beautiful. It just shows that movies would actually be better if they had real exchanges slowed and stylised.
I love that you managed to capture the athleticism, beauty, skill, and joy of high level fencing. Well done!

Not only talent and incredible skill but the purest form of art. Bravo.

And also a good taste in music!
This is incredible! The music choice just makes it even better!
Ребята, вы офигенные, всегда смотрю ваши видео с большим удовольствием)
Music best part. Do more like this
Look, Holywood, THIS is how you portray your fighting spins. Not the "New Hope"-esque comedy...although that was a pearl of its own.
Świetne ujęcia i efekty.
I don't know which I love the most, the amazing exchanges or the amazing music =)
Do čerta chlapci, dobře to děláte! Pozdravuji z Česka :)
Please keep making this content, this is amazing :)

S-U-P-E-R!!!!
Thank you very much, guys!
Very inspiring, especially in these days, when we all cannot train normally.
The consistency of actions across all five weapons is really fascinating to watch.
This video is simply cool. Good job everyone! Akademia Szermierzy has consistently demonstrated that it knows how to combine raw talent with artistic creativity to make really freaking cool content. Bravo! 👏👏👏
Watching this video again. It's so good.
... And again. :)
Panowie, wspaniałe jest to co robicie. Tak dalej!
The control on that exchange at 4:51 was incredible
Homie in the black adidas was really good with the one-handed swords. Dude in the white shoes was money with that long sword. Awesome sparring video, nice editing with the hits.
A true swordsman keeps 6 feet distance anyways! Haha
Good video guys, helpful
Still the best swordfighting channel around! Keep up the great work!
Glorious videos, didnt know there was that many types! Mma fighter here, loved the floire bit about crushing the enemy and courage
I already learned a lot from your videos. Thank you for that.
Far more entertaining than olympic fencing, clearly a lot more realistic in life or death duel rather than just try to poke your opponent before him

Super cool!! The video is never boring because it's a montage of successful actions. It's a really good idea to highlight the hits in that way.
Lovely exchanges, wonderful to watch!
Very good video, thanks from France !
it's so beautiful
thank you guys
Beautiful. They never fail use good footwork and use of range
Парни - Вы офигенные! Хочу к вам на тренировки!!! Молодцы! Отличная техника и работа!
Amazing to watch. Thank you!
Love the head tap at the end there lol. Overall, the plays, music, the sword verities...beautiful!⚔️
This footage is gorgeous. Watching you guys fence wants me to go again and fence myself.

Great production as usually entertaining and educational! The soundtrack is amazing and complements the action perfectly.
Fantastic work, you guys!
Amazing Video you guys should do more in this format with the effects cool backgrounds and music
this earned a subscribe :D
Some truly epic shots at 2:10 !
Visual effects on swords were perfect
So friendly with this music)
Such a beautiful song.
amazing! thank you for the inspiration!
Came here after seeing all the comments on the video The Sun channel stole from you guys, gave them a down vote and your a like! Amazing stuff! 👍🏻👍🏻
This video is really making me miss regular practice at my local hema club
You guys are awesome!!
The epee fights look similar to rapier styles with the exception of cutting
2:18 literally the reason that i think fabris is the most satisfying rapier system to watch, i can just imagine to satisfying thatd be to perform

Превосходно, спасибо вам ребята!))

Of course, make sure to move your opponent's sword off the line as you do so, or he'll still get you in the end.
Fantastic! How do guys manage to maintain skills in all the different weapons?
These are brilliant videos and the editing is smart
Хороша робота, дякую за відео
Beautifull video and technique! I am missing my sparring/training partners so much during corona right now.
I love this video. The more I watch it , the more convinced that sport sabre should do away with right of way to make it more enjoyable and closer to it's predecessor. Granted my bias as a former sport sabre fencer has a lot of influence on my opinion.
Regardless od hema, sport fencing seriously needs some reforms to keep it relevant. It's really a sad sight nowadays
Cool video!
Damn, that was actually mesmerizing
Ugh just fucking beautiful execution, straight to favorites
If only there was somewhere nearby I could learn this kind of thing. Closest is about 2 hours away or in another country.
Maybe consider creating your own HEMA club. Of course it is hard to start, but it's worth it :)
Also you can check our home training series :)
As many have said, love the editing.
Bravi, belle tecniche!
Very good work. As far as I’m concerned, no problem with the choice of music.
Excellent moves.
Since wearing a mask has become the norm, fencing looks like a cool activity I could get into.
stuff like this just makes me even more sad that there are no clubs in my area
As always, great fencing! I like the music too!
👏👏👏amazing techniques in all swords
Beautiful
Fantastic
High technique quality, as always on this channel. Only this music on the background...
Pls do one on saber and messer
magnifico!!
Great editing.
Супер!
fantastic! needs more dagger play and grappling to go with that longsword action
all this series is beautiful and I really love your skill. Just one note about the videos in the open country: they seem to me overexposed maybe half a stop
This is is beautiful as always. I come from an MMA background and these videos have inspired me to take up HEMA.
And WHO is this wonderful singer??????
Anna Maria Jopek
