      You forgot
      "I siendo tu, tan mal me tratas, mi matadora." It's a romantic song from the renaiscance meaning, that cheating should not be a thing in a Spanish relationship.

    I would be interested in hearing the female fencer's thoughts on fighting in a dress and what difficulties it presented.

    • @amelieeilken611

      +Jake Williams Von Starcher That actually turned out to be less problematic than I expected. The movement in the upper body is barely restricted at all and as long as I kept the low stance and sticked to big, single steps, the lower dress didn't bother me too much, either. But the dress did cause problems when it came to double side steps or multiple smaller steps.

    • @JTWilliams74

      Interesting, thank you for the response by the way. Dresses aren't your typical everyday HEMA wear but I do see the importance of fencing in historical clothing if we want to understand it better.

      +Thunderchrist Ministries International I was actually inspired by a painting of Emilie of Saxony, but you are none the less very close (so close that I am genuinely impressed) - it is a drawing of Cranach and the dress itself is very similar to the dresses in the paintings of Judiths.

    So this is exactly how a Fencing match would be conducted in late 1400s-early 1500s Germany (southern Germany to be specific)?? Amazing!! And what a fantastic demonstration. Just superb! You have such swordplay down to a sweet & fancy science. And the period clothing & costumes that you chose to wear really honored & beautifully highlighted the rough time period that such fancy & outstanding swordplay came out of & represented (1450-1550!). Great Job!! That was a real joy to watch! Keep up the excellent work👍👍👍

    Wow, this video is extremely helpful. I am currently studying this style in attempts to teach myself using guides and books as well as well done videos such as this. Currently I have only practiced movement, stances, and defensive blocks. I was just recently taking a closer look into how to correctly parry and attacks, but my comprehension fell short. This video illustrated many techniques I have read about and attempted to visualize. Some didn't quite make sense to me. However, after seeing this video, I have had certain maneuvers suddenly click and I have had answers to some of my questions about positioning answered. I plan to refer back to this video when I begin my offensive training. Great job!

    I notice something I find interesting in this video, as opposed to others I've seen on historical fencing. The combatants don't seem to change the position of their hands on the hilt of the sword; if the left hand grips the pommel, it stays on the pommel. Other videos, likely inspired by different fetbutche, show maneuvres where the combatant changes their grip quite often.
    I find this interesting because for the man in armor, with a hand protected solid lames of steel, the unmoving position of the hands would probably easier. Very fascinating video!

    Awesome, but read somewhere that in those times, in a sword to sword fight, you must avoid almost all blade to blade contact, because first you should aim for the flesh and vital points of your oponent, and second to prevent over damage to your weapon, which were very expensive back then 🤔

    •  6 років тому +3

      Hi Oskar! That must be an awful source. That is just nonsense :) Blades in Europe are made for bind and parry. Also your first intent is your self-protection.

    • @Hellion73
      @Hellion73 6 років тому

      @ Björn Rüther Hi. And yes, you're right, i didn't meant to say all the blade to blade contact, but the "Hollywood" clinking metal to metal contact, for the reasons i mention and they explained. Even if we know there are mayor differences beetween asían and euro sword combat, that source extended the explanation to samurais, and their swords, saying that those weapons, been sharped lethal and all, were not made to bind and parri, but to cut, and even thrust with the apropiated tech, but never in the way movies despict them, because the metal was more fragile than the europeans, thats why samurais trained to be fast and to end a fight quickly. So, the people who wrote all that, tried to apply the same principles, in some extend, to euro "duellists" on their explanation.

    • @danielsmith5664
      @danielsmith5664 6 років тому +2

      @@Hellion73 When it comes to japanese sword styles, part of the reason they focuses so heavily on cuts and not bind work was because the swords themselves, while beautiful, were of fairly low quality. If you hard block something with a katana it'd just warp or even break. Whereas a longsword is designed to take much more impact.
      katanas were a personal protection weapon designed to show status and defend a samurai in civilian settings/times of peace.
      Longswords were battlefield weapons that dealt with people in full plate armour and needed to be sturdy.
