@@TheRockstarRunkey you really are a nice person 😊
When using Insect Glaive, each level of Flinch Free also grants one level of Earplugs, Windproof and Tremor Resistance for as long as triple buff is active
Wow. That is a very good tip. Thanks!
Oh nice! I always wondered what the extra effects were
@David Cracknell reddit and UA-cam comments. Not joking.
Wait whaaaaaaaaaaaaat?! 🤩 (Starts thinking about all the awesome set combinations now possible)
WAAAT
one thing to note about the new R2 dive move introduced in iceborne is that it counts as a ground attack, and thus gets no benefit from aerial damage boosting abilities and has no mounting capabilities. it does however does a lot of damage so its good for jumping over monster attacks and slamming back down on them.
another thing about that dive move is that if your kinsect isnt already flying around and hitting the monster on a marked spot, it will actually leave your arm at the moment you start the attack, and if the final hit of the dive combo hits, not only will it automatically mark the monster for you, but the kinsect will do a drill move where they go through the monster to reach the spot you just marked from where they were up in the air. the slower your kinsect is, the more hits it will do, which gives power kinsects a little bit more use than speed ones, since most people generally just pick the fastest kinsects.
Insect Glaive tips:
heal also affects kinsect stamina
manually recalling the kinsect causes it to regain a chunk of stamina upon reaching you. When close to the monster you can bump the monster with your kinsect then recall it to quickly regain about one third to a half of your kinsect's stamina. This can be used to greatly increase the time your kinsect is attacking the monster.
glider mantle, master mounter, and activating the meal perk from 4 red foods all reduce the amount of damage you need to deal before triggering a mount. Mount damage, like all status effect damage, increases its threshold amount every time the status (in this case a mount) activates and is shared in group hunts
Changing positions during a mount deals damage that counts towards the topple threshold
There are two different topple thresholds and passing the first forces you to wait until you reach the second. this makes it important to find out how many position changes + normal 1 damage hits let you reach the first threshold the fastest without going over
You can use your kinsect to trigger certain environmental traps like falling boulders
The advancing spinning slash is most useful for popping kinsect dust clouds, and having fun
If you are a fellow insect glaive main and have conflicting information/additional tips let me know and I will edit with credit
I want a build that focuses on stunning the monster, could you recommend me some jewels to do so? I do hunt with freinds but mainly by myself, and I know there are pure damage builds, but that kind of negates the reason you choose the glaive over a greatsword. I spend 20 minutes wailing in a monster and they just run away at low health. Could be a skill issue but ig would appreciate some tips on how to make a stun build
@@karmaclown752 on insect glaive I have had lots of success by using the yellow ladybug kinsect (blunt paralysis) and keeping the head marked 90% of the time. I like using stamina thief though if you want to build fully into paralysis/slugger you can, in which case you would want the diablos set bonus that increases stun effectiveness (base world) as far as iceborn build crafting I haven't completed the dlc yet so I'm not sure if there is something different for that.
Good to know
from the little time i have playing IG:
1. fastest kinsect just straight up simplifies everything. the bulk of your damage comes from the hunter anyway, and not the kinsect itself, so making it easier to get the buffs for your hunter just feels way better.
2. i'd like to say.. don't look at your aerial moves as your core combos. instead, go with an approach more like, "oh kulve taroth is spewing lava all over the floor? imma just hang in the air for a bit then i guess"
3. you can send out your kinsect, even when they just ran out of stamina. knowing this, in addition of using your hops to animation cancel the end of your heavy attacks, you can send out your your kinsect instead, and go with your day.
4. you don't NEED to have all 3 buffs active. just grab the red, and a random one. if you get 3 in the process, good on you.
5. unless you're already godly at abusing the base mechanics, evade window 5 is hella good.
Pressing left trigger and y and b or triangle and circle with slinger ammo you can charge the kinsect and get some buff that allows double extract
To add on:
Ammo picked up from the environment grant double stamina and stamina regen to the kinsect.
Red ammo pickups grants an increase to damage(1.5*-3* depending on what damage type the kinsect is), and half the cloud cooldown, so basically double dust clouds.
Hey I just picked up the game recently and I couldn’t figure out how to consistently do the cool air combo, thanks for the video dude bery informative, simple and straight to the point.
Thanks for the kind compliment! Hope you have fun with the game!
Shrieking Legiana, I tried it first with the longsword and later on I just said, nope, I'm going back to the camp and getting my insect glaive
That jump dodge at 7:45 beautiful
😂 Thank you!
I've been off this game for a bit. Having to start it all over again lost all game data. The video was very good. If anyone is on PS4 hit me up.
Yoooooo need anyone to play with still ?

God I love the Insect Glaive so much (or Bug Stick as I like to call it, heh). Yeah the aerial damage could be the same as it is in Rise, but apart from that I think it's such an awesome weapon
Tbh it is so satisfying to get a tail cut with these thing while going from airborne to a direct swirling beyblade down cut.
You make great guides! Really, this is the most helpful weapon guide I’ve found. I appreciate you taking the time to make it!
Thank you for the kind compliment and giving the video a watch!
really helpful video thank you! just picked up the game yesterday
Thanks for watching and good luck!
Been playing insect glaive for years and never understood the marking (RT) so thanks for that
There are two other skills that are good complimentary for the glaive: flight attack (airborne) and flinch which powers up some of your extracts. I’m not sure about the details about flinch and its boost to insect extracts because the description in game is vague, nevertheless, having more than one skill point in it is always good.
Earplugs, windproof and.. footing? Each level of flinch free gives 1 level of those three.
@@Choom89and note that the levels from flinch stack with other gear.
Very informative and good for new and returning players! It's been a long time and I'm just now getting back into the game!
Thank you for watching the video! I hope you have fun going back to this game! 😁
Same goes for me. Thanks for the tips, so helpful! This weapon looks so fun and I love how mobile it is, I've always wanted to try it out.
Thank you for being a kind person 😊 I've had a few people angry at what I've said so it's nice to see comments like this 🥺
@@ShortD3vil What? I don't see why anyone would get upset for trying to be a good person and simply making content on something you enjoy. Don't mind them, keep helping those you can whenever you have the opportunity. There will always be at least one person who will appreciate it :]
Thanks for making the video. There was some helpful information here.
No worries man! I'm glad I could help! 😊
Thank you! I was having a hell of a time trying to figure out how to get each type of essence. 😆
No worries man, I was in the same situation as well 😅
been off from this game for months because of velkhana and ur insect glaive tips & trick made killing the ice chicken actually fun and manageable lol
Lol ice chicken. It's nice to hear that I've helped you out, keep on slaying man!
Don't worry, I'm pretty sure EVERYONE hated their first time trying to kill Velkana. Personally took me a few days
I hate fighting her because they cheat with her. Her ice beam goes through everything so you can’t even hide from it .
Thanks bro, appreciate you teaching us the way of the kinsect 🙏😎
No worries man, have fun with it!
I know that ground attacks are better than aerial, but aerial attacks are way more fun, they allow more chances for mounting, and they keep me out of my teammates’ way since I almost always play with a group. Hardest part is almost always just getting the red buff.
Nice guide man, i´m a new player and it really helped me out thanks.
No worries man 😁 hope that you have fun playing!
Airborne can always helps you to get more damage. weakness exploit is also can be your companion to add more damage if you don't have 100% affinity. Talking about element, I don't recommend you to make the blast one for the glaive itself. I found that only 5 types of element that actually worth to craft (cmiiw). Ice, thunder, fire, para, and dragon (this is for fatalis).
If you're looking for an easy grinding for each elements, here some tips for you:
- ice: beotodus glaive (you can use this before meeting velkhana)
- thunder: fulgur anjanath glaive
- fire: silver rathalos glaive
- para: viper tobi-kadachi glaive
- dragon: (I forgot about this one lol)
Why is blast not as good?
I'm using Deviljho's glaive for sick dragon damage.
That was a great joke 🥹
Really good tips thanks!
Great channel dude!!!
Thanks man! 😁
How good is catastrophes light I just started playing again after ages and I have that as my glaive, I suspect all my armour, weapon and kinsect will be outdated significantly?
With the Iceborne DLC, then that weapon, kinsect and armour is outdated. Without the dlc then I'm sure you're fine.
Just started this game with my friend and wanted to use this weapon and wanted to know what type of gear is good to use starting out we both have the dlc but I’m still in the mission right before I defend the wall from the big guy but if you know what gear is good to use with the weapon starting that would be wonderful.
Use the defender set to blast through the base content of the game. Once you reach the Iceborne content, the defender set will gradually become useless and then you should look into building gear from monsters you've recently killed
@@ShortD3vil ok
Thank you!
No worries! 👍
thx for the tips
Thanks for watching the video!
Is there any way to fast rebuffs? I really getting tired of need to rebuff every of them individually every 1,5 minutes
So i have the full Velkahna set. The armor and weapon. My weapon now has a seperate charge meter and glows.
That's part of the Velkana armor set bonus. I think it's when you have 4 armor pieces of Velkana, you get a separate meter. Look at your armor skills to see what it does.
How long u been playing mhw ? I'm wondering because I have no idea how to kill a furious rajang its so hard iv tryed so many times but never get it do u have any tips for it if u have killed it befor ? Sorry if this comment is annoying it has nothing to do with insectglave
Try to hit its head to make furious Rajang power-down from its rage. Breaking the horns and arms will reduce some of his attack power. Furious Rajang is a very agile brawler and will keep the fight mostly on the ground. You have the tools available for your hunter to help lock down Rajang’s movements. Try thinking up something creative to prepare yourself for the hunt.
@@Richard-mo1nc ok thanks ill try out hammer see if i can break his horns and arms faster
If you’re having a really hard time with monkey boy just use a sticky build
@@undeadlegion2991 sticky build ?
@@g--ge9hd light bow gun or heavy bow gun just search for sticky builds
I believe you can only send yourself back into the air 5 times in one combo before it won't allow you to do it again
4
Floor is lava
yes i wonder why he said "infinite air time". You are forced to land after 4 blows so it's not even close to infinite.
I never said anything about infinite air time but I did mention the infinite combo
I was curious if you have any good combination of armour for high rank cos i am using defender armour and i just beat nerigante and was not sure whoch armour to use I use insect glaive
To be honest, I mostly look at the skills that an armour has before thinking about the armour because skills matter much more than armour. As long as you're choosing armour of a higher rank, you'll be fine but keep your eyes on the skill. It's why I only recommended skills in the video rather than armour.
I think a hybrid attack pattern works best while playing solo since the monsters are easier to predict. Going in the air for maneuverability or dodging otherwise undogable attacks and staying on the ground as much as possible. I always use my maneuvering to get some earial hits in before landing and beating the snot out of the monster.
When playing multiplayer, I tend to focus more on aerial moves since reading if a monster is about to attack you or your friend can be a bit difficult. Furthermore, mounting and toppling a monster is much more useful for a party than you doing better damage.
Evade extender lvl 2 really helps with the ground based attacking! But really... Max evade extender and evade window always makes for a fun time, please see; Monster Hunter Rise bow with crazy long slides and wirebug attacks. Extremely fun!
How do you unlock that skills tab? I don’t have it at my smithy. Is it because it’s iceborn only?
u have nice music choice :D may i know your playlist?
I used Harris Heller's Streambeats in my videos.
The tracks that I've used in order:
All The Royalties
Skyward
Mint Frost
Orbis
Cherry Blossom Skies
So overrall witch insect build should i go for gonna start tmr 😊
Tbh, bow is most complicated stamina management than ig, Imo
That weapon is literally easy mode
That’s debatable. One could say blowgun is easy mode what with how powerful some of the ammo for that thing is
It is incredibly easy to accidentally put yourself out of position and out of stamina and get fucked over
I'd say it can't be easy mode. Easy mode means that a new player could pick it up and instantly blow the game without a problem.
But IG needs a lot of skill to use.
IG Is not Easy at all. It requires you learn how to play It properly. A new fresh player cannot beat the game with It in ha First run
