Because there are no best bands (what are the selection criteria?), there are just bands playing different styles of musick, some of them having more commercial success (what still doesn't mean there are better than other ones), than others having more creativity and talented musicians.
Sadly we live in a world where you MUST choose your favourite and try to clash all those thinking different.
The best example is in football with Messi & Ronaldo.
I can't remember when and if we ever had a blessed period with 2 such amazing talents playing (for a period) in the same Liga in direct confrontations.
If you appreciate both players, you're banned from every discussion. If you prefer Messi, you get an avalanche of insults from the Ronaldo fans. Same if you're a Ronaldo fan, the whole Messi community is against you. And it's not done in a cool, relaxed (it's only football), funny way.
All periods had there star drummers, 🎸 , bassists, frontmen and singers, etc...
I love Led Zeppelin. I love Deep Purple. Why should I choose which one is better? It's because they both bring something different that I surely appreciate both groups.
ART IS NOT A COMPETITION!!!! The grammys and all these ceremonies are made by the Labels for the Labels.
Remember the Artists and Groups that brought something new to the Art.
And never forget that there many, really many extremely talented Artists you never listened to 'cause you don't even know their existence.
And once again, that's why I appreciate Big Bear's comment saying "PF is his favourite group". That's an smart and wise comment, because what I like is not necessarily the world's best.
Appreciate and follow the Legends as long as they're still with us... we saw how every month, year, many of them left us.

Great bluesy number from an underappreciated album. Killer from start to finish, saw the tour to boot. 30 years later, still not stale.
I have always loved this album, even if I am also a huge Waters fan. I think someone with good taste in music can love both Gilmour and Waters, toghether and separate.
Pink Floyd is amazingly, astonishingly, phenomenal. Take you way farther than NASA can imagine.

This album was an amazing return to form. I bought it the weekend after it came out. I wasn't disappointed. My only sadness is that it turned out to be the last studio album. I had hoped that they were back on a roll. Anyway, it was a massive achievement by David Gilmour. Arguably the most Pink Floyd style album since Wish YouvWere Here.

The magic of David Gilmour isn't the quantity of notes his guitar work produces, it's the IMPACT of the few notes he plays have on the listener. There are droves of faster guitarists, and I'm sure many who are technically superior to David as well, but at the end of the day, it's the impact what he plays has on us emotionally that matters most. If he's the best at anything, it's doing SO MUCH MORE with fewer notes than any of his contemporaries that sets him apart. I won't bother with best this or best that, I'll simply say that he is without question a master of his craft who has brought me as much joy as any musician I've had the pleasure of listening to in my 61 years on this earth.

I remember David Goodnow from Headline News (HLN) announcing in Jan 1994 that Floyd was going on tour that year.
Got tickets as soon as they came on sale (not the scam that is today's Ticketmaster) and saw them twice in Toronto that summer.

@@TheAntshYes, sadly 😔 I'm from Switzerland and the Alps are changing so fast in a wrong way ; less green and less "greenest" indeed. Also, less snow and ice for usual altitudes. I have seen it last summer in Valais/Wallis (a countie of Switzerland) at the Mont Fort (more than an altitude of 3000 meters)...
I try to do my beet having pro-climate behaviors even if I know it wont be enough...

I was introduced to the band pink Floyd on my first trip with LSD and have loved the band ever since, When I listen to songs from this album I am immediately reminded of the 1st time with LSD i love you

My first Pink Floyd album was either Ummagumma or Meddle. I love this band. Meanwhile, a new favourite is The Warning, who has released a song, "Que Mas Quieres" which means "What More Do You Want From Me". And their guitar player loves David Gilmour. What comes around...
