I remember listening to this for the first time, just after it’s release. My cousin Shawn bought it first and we sat in his room for the weekend listening to it over and over on the turntable . A portable at that .
It was MAGIC . Like that feeling , you know , like your thinking has changed and your mind has opened . It’s Pink Floyd all the time.

This is the best stretch of the entire record. When Nobody Home starts, you know you've hit the darkest and most depressing part of the whole album.

The wall is my first musical memory from my dad playing it on vinyl. I think he was struggling himself but constantly worked and provided for our family. He did sit in the dark at times and drink and listen to this album and hiding behind his own wall. Years later I did the same. Thankfully we both overcame our problems and saw roger perform it numerous times between 2011-13. Nevertheless this album will stand head and shoulders over anything else due to how it relates to me. “Does anybody else in here, feel the way I do?” Love to all ❤️

Calling Pink Floyd a classic rock band is an insult. They are a lot more than just a band. They are the composers of the modern era. This is art.

"When i was a child i caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye.
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
    The child is grown,
    The dream is gone.
    I have become comfortably numb."

I know what you mean. I have been feeling very badly lately; suicidal in a way I have never experienced. I have been uncomfortably numb. Listening to The Wall broke the dam holding in all my feelings. I have been listening and crying and just having music that emotes for me and puts my feelings to words so well is the relief from pain I needed.

In 1942, Vera Lynn recorded a song “We’ll Meet Again,” Considered one of the most beloved songs of the World War II era, “We’ll Meet Again” has since been covered by a range of artists from the Byrds to Barry Manilow, and was put to brilliant, ironic use during the final scene of Stanley Kubrick’s satiric masterpiece Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. With its message of hope and loving reunion, the song became an instant favorite for soldiers leaving their loved ones behind, as well as those sending their fathers, brothers and sons off to war, uncertain if they’d make it back alive.

Nobody Home. This song just holds me in such an embrace, when I'm at my lowest point. Especially the line "I got wild, staring eyes and a strong urge to fly....but I got nowhere to fly to." So I curl up in my isolation & cling to this song through it. Like reading a book takes you on a vacation in your chair, Pink Floyd takes you on an emotional roller coaster ride in that same chair. My heart just beats to the song & I breathe. And I Have Become Comfortably Numb.

No downtuned distorted guitars, no dissonant chords, no extreme vocals, no swear words even - yet this is one of the most heartbreaking song set ever. Saying as depressed nu metal fan. It doesn't beat you with horrible imagery - it goes deeper, introverted and introspective - how you feel suffering, how you reflect on it - which makes it universal, applicable to many different situations, relatable regardless of what you're suffering from. And it doesn't try to be edgy and cool and poetic - no, it is rather simple and realistic reflections of a realistic human being which makes everything even more relatable. They say that genius is in simplicity - and they are right.

    BRING THE BOOOOOOYS BACK HOOOOOME!!!
I recall an interview with all the crew and, I have nothing against Gilmoour, but it seems he really understimated that theme (bring the boys back home)... However, this pack of songs, altogether, are just amazing like they were a 4 movement sonata or something. Then I had the opportunity to attend a Roger Waters concert and he played an extra-extended version of 'bring the boys back home' and the crowd went crazy... It's a damn good song!

Im 44 years old, and Pink Floyd is still the greatest inspiration in my entire life. Unlike others in my life, and even some in PF themselves, I never grew up. I kept my open, loving childlike mind my entire life. And as this disease eats me physically, I remain knowing that my life was a success. For in the end, I brought much more joy, than I caused pain in this world. And that... THAT is the only true measure of life.
