Working with metal can be a lot of fun when you have the right tools. If you are a woodworker or, in my case, use your shop for car storage, you will need to separate your metal work from everything because of the oils, dirty metal shavings and other items that can screw up a nice woodworking project or scratch cars. I have spent a lot of time looking for better ways to make clean cuts without a mess and when we ran across this Bosch saw at the World of Concrete, I was in love. Someday I hope they bring the cold cutting miter saw to the US like they have in Europe, but for now I will be happy with this saw.
The CSM180 18V metal circular saw has a very compact design that is also very comfortable. The on-board tool for blade changes is stored out of the way. At 4.25 pounds without the battery, close to 6 pounds with a 4.0 Ah battery, the saw can easily be used overhead or in tight awkward positions. The motor has been designed specifically for metal and keeps the blade speed constant while you start the cut. If you are using this saw in construction or at you workbench, you can hang it from the rafter hook located on the top of the saw. The depth of cut is easily changed. One of my favorite features is the LED light that helps you follow your cut line. The light was very useful even for daytime cuts.

What’s the thickest pieces of steel that this thing can cut??
Can it cut a piece of 1/2” by 6” mild steel flat bar?
And would it last long cutting through those?

    Hey Brian, how you doing?
Man, first I'm here to say that I really appreciate your videos...full of details, thumbs up!
The tool looks really light and manuvrable.
Just one detail about the design(my opinon). This tool would be perfect with the left side blade...I'm right handed and I fell I would have more precision tough.
Nice that you told about it might cut wood with the proper blade.
A question now: with milwaukee m18 fuel 6-1/2 circular saw, would I be able to cut roofing sheets using a proper blade and having a cold clean metal cuts??
I don't understand rpm and torque stuff about cutting wood and metal differences.
Thanks for the video and attention man, workshopaddict rocks!!

If you could find a metal blade, I am sure the saw would work. You would be knocking up your shoe on the metal and it would suck to come back to wood and leave marks from burrs, but in a pinch, it would work. Metal blades spin slightly slower, so you would be spinning a bit fast for a metal blade.

Thanks for the great video. You've had hands-on experience with this Bosch CSM180 as well as with the Milwaukee 2682-20, and perhaps also with the Makita XSC01Z cordless metal-cutting circular saws (I'm excluding the DeWalt because I prefer a right-hand cut). Could you say which you prefer, or at least the pros and cons of each as you see it?

Bosch blade speed is faster and the Milwaukee blade speed is slower. i preferred the Milwaukee for sheet goods and the Bosch for round stock.

Thanks. The Milwaukee has the grab point in front, vs the side for the Bosch. Either may be good. Any thoughts on the frameless four-pole motor in these vs the brushless in the Makita?

+Kemp Cease I have only used the Makita at trade shows. Seems like a good unit. I want torque in my metal saws and I am willing to sacrifice some run time for it. So the old 4 pole motor is great for me.
