@@HERscourge I don't think so, the Guardian is a much heavier rig with its own mag pouches stupid flaw. You can only put a single mag in the chicom and making it double would improve the rig tremendously with zero effort or extra material, the Guardian could hold 3 AR mags like it was nothing if it weren't for the SEWN separator, so stupidly unnecesary to make the design more complicated and spending more material in making the rig worse I have some of their products and while I really like them, there is always a WTF design decision making them worse than they should be
I guess you could always go with the original Arktis rugs that have triple double mag pouches, so long as you don't mind the two utility pouches on the sides. Thing is, you can either get exactly what you want with a modular rig at the expense of weight, get a lighter rig with features you don't exactly like, or custom make it yourself, or pay someone else to custom make it.
Looks like a great upgrade to a classic although I don't like velcro on mag pouches. Velcro always fails eventually especially in snow. I prefer the closer system from UL gear. Nate
Followed your link on Reddit!! Thanks for a quality review. Halicon-Tex is not well-known in the US so my team is skeptical. They're like "It's not just european Condor, is it?" We are a volunteer Search and Rescue team that also enjoys shooting sports so we do demand rugged quality and smart design from our gear. Most of us use Mayflower, but Mayflower is too pricey now that groceries have doubled in price here in the US :( Based on this review I think I will get this. It appears to check all my boxes. The harness has routing channels for antennae and water tube. the side panels can hold my TQ, epipen, and my radio pouch. I like the option to use a dangler instead of my belt for my trauma kit. I appreciate the spacious looking admin pouch behind the mag pouches and I hope it has more room than my Mayflower. It sounds like the quality is there, especially on the pouches, because users outside the US all seem to agree on that. It even comes in Multicam!
Cheers mate, Helikon is great kit especially for the money. Im pretty sure the admin pocket will be slightly smaller than the mayflower, it cant take a triple mag insert like my mayflower does.
@@military_misfit so an helikon 3 rifle mag competition insert is 220mm. How wide is the one you tried in the video that was too tight for your liking?
Interesting information. I would prefer double magazine pouches up front and center, myself. Kinda hard to go prone, though. Torch is Anglo for flashlight in Americanese?
I have this same one in brush stroke I confirm that it can only fit one mag per pouch. I still love the rig but it's very much a "light fighter" I recommend spending a bit more money trying to find a pattern 83 SADF rig as they have plenty of space
So cool to watch reviews from the guy who voiced korg
Fantastic review! Covered all my questions about it
It has some good ideas and it is an "affordable" rig, but making single pouches was a mistake in my mind
I agree, double AR pouches would have added a lot of utility, hopefully they will come out with a Mk 2 version
That's what they make their "Guardian" rig for.

Thanks for the detailed review, missed if you said what color option this was, thanks!
It's coyote.
Actually better than my onward research in design….
It appears to be a similar layout just smaller.

Very nice video, thank you for the information!
Glad it was helpful!
Very helpful, brother. Thank you.

The side buckles can also be modified into repair buckles. Just use a pair of wire cutters
Can you tell us the measurements of the "admin pocket"? Curious if there's better option out there
The map insert is 255mm wide
@@military_misfit so an helikon 3 rifle mag competition insert is 220mm. How wide is the one you tried in the video that was too tight for your liking?
its a Mayflower triple, 250mm
Any update? Have you tried the 3 rifle mag insert?@@Chuck89

Torch is Anglo for flashlight in Americanese?
Yes mate, torch= flashlight ;)
Thanks
what backpack is that? great size
Its an old Blue Force Gear pack, I forget the name now.
Do you know if this is good to go for IR and Nods mate?
I couldn't say, you should speak to Helikon.
Who makes that second map pouch you tried to fit in. I’m trying to find it.
platatac.com/platatac-asad-zippered-admin-insert.html
does it fit two AR mags per pouch or just one?
It takes one AR, AK or .308 AICS (depending on the brand) per mag pouch.
@@military_misfit2 metals 556 mags won’t squeeze in there ? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a single 7.62 mag that didn’t hold 2 556
@@tylerfreal6472 The AICS are thinner than double stack .308 mags and I stretched the pouches out a bit.

Very disappointing. I clicked to see the rig in the thumbnail.
This is the rig in the thumbnail…
It is the rig in the thumb nail, if you watch the video I go through the options on how to set it up.
@@military_misfit my bad let me watch it again
@@dirtyscoundrel2013 No worries, mate, let me know if you have any questions.
