My name is Andy Okus. I been playing pro sax, guitar, bass, and piano over 45 years now. I met Mr. B.B. King when I was only 14 years old in 1971 at " Pirate's World " in Hollywood Florida. He was the kindest, most humble gentleman I ever met. He treated me; a little kid who knew one blues lick on the Alto sax like I was a millionaire or something. He was such a totally selfless human being. I hung out with his sax section after the show. They we're just as kind and giving as B.B. was. I mean they treated me like I was damn Charlie Parker. We just chilled and talked about playing different saxes. The mood and the vibe of this clip is a representative of the highest and finest respect that is shown among " Real " musical artists. Mick and Susan's voices complement BBs so well. The shared guitar playing between Derek, Susan, Ronny and Slash are outstanding, but the most under-rated part of this, is the bass player holding it all in line as the song progresses.
I'm so disappointed that Susan Tedeschi didn't get more popular. When I heard her for the first time, Bonnie Raitt had finally got popular to the masses. I then thought with her style on "Rock Me Right" and others she would explode. Unfortunately, she didn't.
My father passed away from cancer 2 days before BB King was in concert in Albuquerque in 2010. I listen to this song and shed a few tears for my father and BB King. R.I.P. Dad and BB.

I love how every B.B. performance he is just enjoying the moment and jamming appreciating all the other talented musicians that gravitate toward his greatness
Ronnie never gets talked about enough. Amazing guitar playing, but he gets overshadowed by Keith Richards and his stuff always got a bit buried in the mix of their songs. Start Me Up is a good example. Try to find an isolated track or a cover of Ronnie's playing in that song.
ronnie carried this 100%!! bb phoned it in, slash as another commentator said, "so restrained, so respectful", but not the performance i was expecting!

arguably The greatest song ever made in which the guitar is doing most of the singing. The scales allows you to actually feel the songwriter's emotions in making the song. Thank you for this amazing craftmanship, 🤴🏿
I got to see B.B. King when I was 15 years old - perfect timing since I was getting heavily into playing guitar at that age. He was 74 back then. R.I.P. to the undisputed King of the Blues...
1999, State Theater, Easton, Pennsylvania... I had a ticket to see him with Buddy Guy and J. Geils Band (who are extremely underrated and deserve serious respect) in 2011 but there was a hurricane that canceled the concert... These days I live in Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia so it is harder to see famous bands, but none of the greats are getting any younger so the money and hassle is definitely worth it :-)
I love how the blues gets down under your skin and you feel the music, your body responds to it instead of just using your ears to listen. Great music. 💕⚡📀
The original Thrill Is Gone, his "hit" -is the greatest piece of music ever recorded. Yet one time I drove 2 hours to a BB King concert just to hear Susan Tedeschi play. Another time I was at a big Blues festival in Reno and I wasn't playing much attention to the people who were playing, but then I heard this one note. I was electrified. The King had started his set..
People think BB King could only play about 4 notes, but that's all the man needed. I love the way he grabs the mic in this knowing he's got killer vocal chops to go with those "4" notes too. 👌🏻 What a legend. RIP.
After all these years, I understand the lyrics to this song. I can hear pain when Mr. King sings. Instead of just singing along to the notes of a song. Ironically, watching this is truly a "thrill".
BB was a great musician from down home. He knew about hard times and had a great work ethic. He didn’t allow people to use profanity in his presence. No weed smoking around him at no time. I learn this many years ago a wonderful human being
The biggest heart in blues. Saw him live in Halifax. A kind soul with lots of self-effacing humor. I know everyone in that room felt like he was talking directly to them. I still smile at his live concert videos
Shows like this can never happen again ….as our icons…hero’s …and gods of music ….slowly disappear from our lives …..the music from yesterday …will continue as the music in the future…..
@@markbehnke5243 was fortunate to see BB four times, all with my 3rd son who is a very good guitar player, several of them in the first couple of rows. An American treasure right there! B B Kings remains “Amazing” & his skill as one the greatest guitarists remains!! Slash was so gracious & humble to toward the legend BB King!! 😊beautiful!!
Somehow the best part of this video for me isn't the music, it's the fact King really enjoys being on stage with a bunch of other good musicians. It's like the stage is where he belonged in life, and he knew that better than anyone else.
Just outside of Sturgis, Michigan soon after B.B.s death, a very awesome person bought billboard space and put B.B. on it with a short message: "Thank you for the music, B.B."
Oh my God I can't tell you how many times I've watched this video since yesterday when I found it .and I forwarded to anyone I can think of. if they could Bottle b.b. King vibe and pass it around for free the world would be a happier place
I tell you man, there's a shit load of talent on that stage. But I have yet to see anyone make a guitar sing like BB could. Saw a show with him and Buddy Guy just before he died, and he spent a lot of time talking to the crowd instead of playing. You could tell it was almost over for him, but when he was playing Lucille that night, It cut through all of the other instruments, Buddy stepped back and watched with this... contented look on his face I'll never forget, and I swear that was one of the most magical things I'd heard from a stage. My only regret is that I wasn't able to see him earlier in life during his prime.
I was THRILLED to open up this video and see the woman on stage with all those legendary greats! And as I watched, it hit me that it was none other than SUSAN TEDESCHI! She's been a long time favorite of mine! Saw her live in NYC MANY years ago at a free concert in Battery Park! One of the very best days of my life! And I did something I'd NEVER done before... I went to this concert completely alone! God... It was just brilliant... But here, you add BB, SLASH (and I won't even begin to tell you how obsessed I was with GnR & Slash) & all the other legends up there into the mix! Got goosebumps! 🤯😍💖🎊👍👍👍👍🤩🤩🤩😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🎇

Now, some years later, I still love it so much to hear 'His Master B.B." !!!
Great story Al🎸
I was at this gig, 4th row (I couldn't believe my luck). It was amazing. You could tell Slash was very humbled to be there. As would any guitarist. It's BB King.
Oh my god lucky you! This must be a fantastic night !
Счастливчик, реально тебе повезло 👍
I’d probably do what Wayne did for Alice Cooper if I were to meet BB King. I don’t think I’d be worthy to even look at him, let alone play with him.
brilliant
@@davidmcaninch4714 Same. He was talked about so much in my house growing up and with such respect that he'll always be like this mythical almost Jesus like figure in my mind.

Amen to that!👍

I got to meet B.B. once. It was like a Catholic getting to meet the Pope. An amazing man. Most do not know how much time he devoted to encouraging young blues artists. He wanted to make sure this music did not die.
Music will never die. B.B. King was a legend. I just feel bad I never got to see him play live.
I also met him once, at Montreux. Kind, polite, modest, humble... a perfect gentleman.
TheBent139 the and makes no difference

Like a catholic meeting the pope without the fear of getting their subsequent sexual abuse covered up.
this is reali amazing
Went to see this gem of a concert. The best £35 I spent in my life ❤
That was only $35????? Wtf!!!! Where????
@@fromunderthekilt6310 it was in 2011. The venue was The Royal Albert Hall in London. It was London Blues week (or a similar title) BB just kept saying ‘I got a lot of friends in town) and kept announcing new people who were going to join him on stage. Totally unexpected we only went there see BB, as I figured it would be one of the last chances I would get. Magical night. And we had pretty good seats too 😀. BB was around 85 then.
Damn that is crazy. I’m glad you got to see that man, sounded and looked like a truly memorable once in a lifetime gig. Better than the shite we have today that charges four times that!!! Amazing! @@spookysilver
@@fromunderthekilt6310 yes we knew it was special when we were sat there. Going to concerts has seemed to get exponentially more expensive since mid 2010. I still keep going to see the ones I really like - when I can get tickets of course, which also seems to have got a lot harder
wow, only $35 time has changed dramatically. im sure to see this it would be hundreds of dollars, your generation was so lucky!
Slash is showing a lot of authenticity and respect here.
to a startling degree, considering the difference in genre between them
Well not actually a huge difference in genre. Rock comes from blues, and if you're a really legit rock player you should have your blues chops down.
Brilliantbeing a VERY huge different in genre
jamesblond516 If you can't hear the blues influence in GnR, you haven't really listened to them.
Rock came from blues. The Stones have been chasing it all of their career.
And all my years I never seen slash take his hat off and put it on somebody else that's respect there's only one and only BB King
Who is on bass
@@StigFerrari His name is Reggie Richard's. I had never heard of him prior to this
@@seanswinton6242 Same. Very underrated. I like her better than Bonnie Rait
they were all fabulous
I had the Pleasure to Perform with B.B. on his Birthday in 1978, in Chicago,...
My father passed away from cancer 2 days before BB King was in concert in Albuquerque in 2010. I listen to this song and shed a few tears for my father and BB King. R.I.P. Dad and BB.
Sorry to hear that. Songs can def do that for sure:(
My friend, be proud to relive this good moment and remember your father with joy, alright! I'm Brazilian, although I do not know you, I appreciate my feelings.
Meu amigo, tenha orgulho de reviver esse bom momento e lembre-se do seu pai com alegria, tudo bem! Sou brasileira, embora não conheça você, agradeço meus sentimentos.

I love how every B.B. performance he is just enjoying the moment and jamming appreciating all the other talented musicians that gravitate toward his greatness
Paying homage to the great King. If he wasn;'t all that he wouldn't get so much respect so that speaks volumes to me.
No one talking about the great Ronnie Wood killing it, plays with such soul
Ronnie never gets talked about enough. Amazing guitar playing, but he gets overshadowed by Keith Richards and his stuff always got a bit buried in the mix of their songs. Start Me Up is a good example. Try to find an isolated track or a cover of Ronnie's playing in that song.
Not really a big stones, but yeah this guy plays some really tasteful blues
ronnie carried this 100%!! bb phoned it in, slash as another commentator said, "so restrained, so respectful", but not the performance i was expecting!
I agree 100% .
Ronnie Wood...simply the great
Never thought I'd see BB King and Slash on the stage together, and for BB to put his hat on was just great.
To say BB King once wore your hat is historic. What a HONOR. Slash you are blessed.
Imagine the rats and roaches that ran all over poor BB head at that moment. The shame
Slash’s hat is like Thor’s hammer. only the worthy can lift it off his head
Only the King could do it
Slash himself is such a joke though
@@bambuk8305 care to explain? I think a lot more ppl know and like slash than this 'Bam buk' I've never heard of

I was actually there at the Royal Albert Hall. Absolutely blessed and priviledged to see so much talent, and to witness the legend that was "BB King" 💖
It was a magical night. I was so lucky 🍀 to be there too.
R.I.P. Mr. BBKing ,another king that will live forever through his music!!! People will listen his music in decades to come !!! The Kings never die, they regroup in hell !!
Slash never takes off his hat for anyone other than the king
None of the top 100 people in the charts right now could sit on a stage and do anything like that. The talent on that stage is phenomenal.
What a true but sad statement.
For real! This right here touches the soul! No music today can do that
Not even 5
none of the top 100 for the past 10 years can. ....probably more.....

So glad to see Mick Hucknail invited to such a phenomenal group
RIP BB, we miss you every minute of every day.❣️
No-one can touch BB King's vocals on this song. Great to see Slash and Ron Wood.
Players today executing tons of notes and they wont be remembered. Music without melody wont last.
The winds out of tune😢
Three extraordinary guitarists from three generations playing together! BB, Slash, and Ron Wood! Awesome!!!
And Derek Trucks smokes them all!!!!
In my opinion!
hello how are you doing today
Mick Hucknall
Amazing, he proves that he is one of a kind blues and soul singer
Was fortunate enough to have seen BB King live twice in my life. Will always remember and cherish that
Wow, where were those performances? I saw in different venues Willie Dixon and another time Howlin' Wolf, which was the worst "show" I ever saw. Man, if I only knew what he was going through with cancer and subsequent costs, I could just shut up.
Saw him and also the Stones the month I turned 40. Wish I'd been able to attend this gig to celebrate my divorce that year!
Once you get recognition for your music and make it big, their must be nothing better than going through your own personal hero's to jam with them.
You can clearly see the love ❤️

@@mayuva ummm no
This and J Blackfoot's "Taxi" for sure!
I was fortunate enough to see B.B. live 4 times. While I get your point, and you're right, he plays it a bit different each time.
Great KING'S always crown those around them with their great hearts. BB has once again shown with humility that he is the true KING.
I got to see B.B. King when I was 15 years old - perfect timing since I was getting heavily into playing guitar at that age. He was 74 back then. R.I.P. to the undisputed King of the Blues...
Ian Tyrrel how long ago was it? That’s so cool
1999, State Theater, Easton, Pennsylvania... I had a ticket to see him with Buddy Guy and J. Geils Band (who are extremely underrated and deserve serious respect) in 2011 but there was a hurricane that canceled the concert... These days I live in Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia so it is harder to see famous bands, but none of the greats are getting any younger so the money and hassle is definitely worth it :-)
Wow , that’s so cool!
Ian Tyrrel, that is so beautiful. He must have loved talking with you.
He is jamming with some of the other greats. :)
I had the priviledge of seeing BB live and will never forget it!
Can’t go a day without listening to the blues! Another great video 🎉
Only blues shows I've been to that came close was Dr. John, Bo Diddly, and Buddy Guy.
@@sueyyness3642 I got to see BB with Buddy Guy!
Good times!
☮️💜
Only wish I could've seen Stevie too!
There is over 1000 years of experience on that stage. It is well with my soul. Thanks BB, love you. AMAZING
People think BB King could only play about 4 notes, but that's all the man needed. I love the way he grabs the mic in this knowing he's got killer vocal chops to go with those "4" notes too. 👌🏻 What a legend. RIP.
Absolutely. He didn't need to play much, because it wasn't just the notes. It was the tone, the soul that he poured into each one.
5
"Killer vocal chops" indeed. The way he goes into raspy and shouts at different times is even better than his guitar imho
That man could do more with 4 notes than most musicians today could do with 10000.
After all these years, I understand the lyrics to this song. I can hear pain when Mr. King sings. Instead of just singing along to the notes of a song. Ironically, watching this is truly a "thrill".
So glad I got to see BB King once in my life. One of the best showman I’ve ever seen. A blessedly talented man. RIP.
I got the opportunity in Birmingham Al. At city stages downtown. Several times. The Democrats in the city robbed it stupid, and that thrill was gone.
I got the opportunity three times. Memorable experiences!
I got to see him when I was around 11-12 years old, wish I could’ve got to see him again when I got older 🤦♂️
Respect
Shows like this can never happen again ….as our icons…hero’s …and gods of music ….slowly disappear from our lives …..the music from yesterday …will continue as the music in the future…..
Of all my regrets....not seeing B.B. in person top them all. Rest well brother.
I saw him twice in the 90s. The shows were almost exactly the same but who cares. They were both fantastic. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
@@markbehnke5243 was fortunate to see BB four times, all with my 3rd son who is a very good guitar player, several of them in the first couple of rows. When the King sings his facial expressions are as if he was telling a story to his grandkids. Love it.
I noticed slash's tone here was rather mellow, he's very respectful not just as a person but as a musician! He's not trying to stand out here, which just gives me more respect for slash

BB was an amazing musician and the greatest ambassador for the blues genre.
An American treasure right there! I remember clearly as a 13 year old boy loving rock music & hair bands in the 80's until one day my big sister snuck me out late one night & took me to hart plaza in Detroit where I witnessed my very first concert/blues festival where BB was the headliner. My life changed that day & the rest is history. Thank you sis!❤❤❤
B B Kings remains “Amazing” & his skill as one the greatest guitarists remains!! Slash was so gracious & humble to toward the legend BB King!! 😊beautiful!!
It’s amazing how one man could pull all the best blues players together and make it work. BB King your missed.
So awesome to see these guys jam. On a side note that bass player needs more recognition keepin that groove
Somehow the best part of this video for me isn't the music, it's the fact King really enjoys being on stage with a bunch of other good musicians. It's like the stage is where he belonged in life, and he knew that better than anyone else.
In a stage full of guitars, the bassist still killed the show for me.
Slash showed proper restraint, and kept in pocket. His playing was great! Mr. Trucks on that slide tho…. My God that guy is awesome!
Well when you are playing next to BB King and Ronnie Wood it's probably best to hang back.
Why did he show restraint, he should've let it rip and shred

Anyone here listening to BB sing in the last half missed the best guitar shit ever! Thank you Ron, and Derek, and Susan!
Do you think BB King is the only dude that can mess with Slash's hat and hair!
