Saw Birdy in the movie theatre and to this day, nobody really knows that movie, even though it's such a huge movie in terms of his growth and his career. I've always felt like I picked the right horse! That's my guy! I hardly ever see his movies, especially from the early 90s on, once he jumped into the action garbage. But they don't, though. 2001 was one of the worst films I've ever seen. Just 2 hours of near silent pretentiousness. And it's not even because it's "old". It's just so devoid of anything fulfilling and one of those films I guarantee people pretend to like because they think it makes them sound smart. Compare 2001 to Interstellar, and there is absolutely no way on earth that 2001 is even 5% as good. Absolutely no way. I've heard the argument that it's great because it's a film that let's you interpret what is going on. So if I filmed myself in a space suit spinning around near some light bulbs with no dialogue, and entrusted the audience to create an interesting narrative themselves, would people call it the best film ever in 50 years? Just weird

@@harryshepherd9288 that’s fair. The grand majority of people who like to discredit film just generally don’t like movies and don’t realize it. I’m in the other camp though, I see it as a long analogy for the human birth process beginning with insemination, with a focus on the life created as a passing of intellect.
