I think one of my favourite interpretations is Be Strong and Hit Stuff being a joint Emerald and Nora song. I love it so much

Eric: *lowkey vibing to The Sky Is Falling*
Me: *knows he hates all the rap sections, and knows what's coming*
    Me: "Oh no..."

Treasure is indeed the song that plays when Yang and Blake reunite ;D
The "though I walk this world, I'm nowhere to be found" is a hint that it's from Blake's perspective, and it's probably her response to "All That Matters".
All That Matters -> Nevermore -> Treasure

The Truth is short because it is complete.. it was just supposed to be a tune to move you through montage and not supposed to be drawn out back story since they covered what they were showing.

    - For Every Life has some of that asymmetry (for the lack of a better term) to it that works well as the intro to this Volume, and the full version does a good job of keeping that aspect going throughout. That aspect did make it so that I needed some extra time to really appreciate the intro, though.
    - Casey is getting quite good at that vocal fry, like father like daughter.
    - I can very vividly picture the Hound chase during the chorus of Sky is Falling, which really adds to the enjoyment of listening to it.
    - The guitar during Be Strong and Hit Stuff is so good, very much one of those songs where if you can you just have to play along with it.
    - The Williams family had to deal with a serious medical situation of a family member, which is why the soundtrack got delayed and is probably why The Truth wasn't expanded. Out of all the songs it is the one where a short version would work the best, making clear that the only thing Cinder got was just a list of demanding chores and insults.
    - Treasure is the most intimate RWBY love song we've had so far, and I'm all for it.
    - Friend is my favorite this Volume, when I first heard those first four little notes of Penny's theme during the credits I started crying all over again. It's just such a great song for Penny, everything great about her is present in the song. It's also just a plain bop.
    - The addition of a OK Goodnight song is a pretty nice breath of fresh air, it definitely stands out. It standing apart does make it that it sometimes slips my mind when I try to remember RWBY songs.
    - Surprised you did a remix song this Volume, since you always skip over them. The remixes aren't really my cup of tea either, it's pretty rare for me to enjoy a remixed song in general.

    Alright, last time for now:
    - For Every Life - Favorite OP of the show musically and visually, finally dethroning V2’s OP. The way Casey growls out “some roses” each time is just superb.
    - Sky is Falling - Episode 4 during the bike chase. This doesn’t really have a specific character in mind and feels more like just a general theme for the volume (and foreshadowing). “I need therapy” was definitely a mood after the volume was said and done. Crwby has too much fun dealing out emotional damage.
    - Be Strong and Hit Stuff - During the JNRO + Winter + Emerald vs Ironwood fight in Ep 12. Definitely a Nora song, with perhaps a bit of Emerald in there. A refreshingly lighter song given the rest of the soundtrack.
    - The Truth - Played in episode 6 during the Cinder flashback. Very short but it honestly gets across its point rather nicely. Nowhere else you could really go with that. Love when Casey’s voice gets all eerie.
    - Treasure - Played in episode 11 during the reunion. It’s a bit generalized for what couple it’s specifically talking about but I definitely view this as a Bee song, Blake’s answer to All That Matters which was very much Yang’s perspective at the time back in V5. Again, Casey’s range as a vocalist is just insane.
    - Friend - This was just a for the crew to rub salt in our wounds even during the end credits. A Penny song. How dare they. Like this song is literally designed to hurt. But it’s such a sweet Penny and Ruby song. All the V1 callbacks. Owwww. God, I’m so sad we won’t get more with them. All the feels, indeed. I’m literally crying.
    - Awake - Episode 6 actually during the Cinder vs Rhodes fight. And yes, this is by Casey’s band OK Goodnight, and they decided to use it for the show. Not my type of music but no one can deny the talent.
Man, I can’t believe you’re really and truly caught up now. It’s so weird. I know some of this less favorable members of this fandom got a bit ridiculous but I’m glad you continued with this show. I probably said this last reaction but this is seriously my favorite show of the last decade and it’s always great seeing someone else discover and appreciate it.
Just a heads up for when V9 comes out, typically RT’s policy for reactions is that you need to wait a week after they air for First Members before posting any reaction to the episode. And of course you should still be able to upload the full episode. Unless they change the policy, which is unlikely (but not impossible) considering it’s tradition at this point. Otherwise it’s business as usual.
    Well, see you for Chibi.

The only RWBY song that makes me cry more than Friend is Indomitable. CRWBY, WHY!?

I really hope the Volume 9 soundtrack has a full version of "The Truth", I think I'm one of the only people that actually likes Cinder's story.

I think they could have made the into shorter and make Truth longer... The first Cinder song and not even a minute long. (this ost was a bit rushed I think)
Vol 8: The titles of the episodes are all one word, except the last one called The Final Word. Cinder said the last word in the show "Checkmate" for Ironwood, the last word in the end credit song "Alive"
(would be awkward RWBY without RWBY... :D )

The Lyrics in the video are incorrect for Awake. It should be "Sick as a dog in the air I breathe."

    Before I watch the video:
Eric has a track record of not liking any of the edgier/rock heavy songs (As a metal fan, this outrages me). If he says anything bad about Awake, I'm rage quitting.

The Truth doesn't have a full version and it's a bit of a crime
but they had a hard time this year so it's understandable
Also you can beat the crap out of someone who's enslaving you to break free but killing them is something else
    Murder is never okay
Also, Ok Goodnight is a band Casey Lee Williams is the lead vocalist of. The part that plays in the episode is at the second switch up

Before slavery was abolished in the US and the Caribbean, various slave revolts took place where they rose against their enslavers and deaths occurred on both sides. The killing of someone who enslaves and abuses you is not murder, but self-defence, especially when they would fight back to keep you in chains.

    • @KitsyX
      @KitsyX 2 роки тому

@@Cryodrakon well, if they were trying to kill the slaves or would have killed them afterwards, then that’s self defence and fair enough… While the slavers may be bad, I would also be lenient on them morally for killing slaves if the slaves were going to kill them first, even if I would side with the slaves for revolting.
Either way, what further complicates Cinder’s situation is that she isn’t just a slave, she’s somewhat like a foster child. When she becomes an adult she is free… This is more like killing an abusive parent than her breaking free from a slave owner… It doesn’t seem her foster mother was trying to kill her, just punish or incapacitate her…

@@KitsyX "While the slavers may be bad, I may be lenient on them morally for killing slaves if the slaves were going to kill them first."
Holy shit, this is absurd. A slave who has been locked up, abused, forced to work, and treated like they're subhuman rightfully wants to break free. The problem is that slavers aren't going to just let you walk away peacefully, they will obviously fight to stop you escaping. At that point, whatever is necessary to escape is justified. Especially because a slaver holds all the power in that situation, both in terms of the law and weaponry during the revolts.
Perhaps you should show leniency to the slaves who had to resort to such measures out of desperation, rather than the ones that put them in that situation to begin with. As for Cinder's story in particular, it's unclear what the laws in Remnant are concerning her abuse, but being asked to suffer under it for years is kinda fucked ngl. A legal route to get her out of that abuse would be ideal, but since Rhodes didn't do that I think we can assume one doesn't exist.

The slave thing is kinda complicated… I mean, you could argue that she is more of an abusive foster mother than a slave owner… At 17 or whatever, Cinder would be free regardless… Rhodes says so… So yeah, I’m not sure if you can totally compare slavers to this situation.
Regardless, I think an important question is where do we place the line? If soldiers invade our country, they are beaten, surrender and are captured… Should they be executed or kept as prisoners of war? If someone wouldn’t kill you, but will keep hurting you whenever they have the chance, does that excuse killing them?
I don’t know… I see where you are coming from, but it doesn’t sit right with me… Of course I would support slaves rising up against their masters… But unless it’s kill or be killed, I don’t think it justifies killing… The woman was just trying to subdue Cinder, not kill her… While I support Cinder abusing her abuser, to some extent, in retaliation… Killing may have been too far… Either way, Cinder seems to have little issue with killing people, which is worrying… Plus tripping off of her power a bit too… That can’t be healthy.
