A Day In A Life of An Urgent Care PA

  • In honor of PA week, I wanted to share a day in the life of an urgent care physician assistant. I have been a PA for 9 years, and I currently work in urgent care in Las Vegas.
This urgent care is unlike most urgent cares because it's a higher acuity urgent care. As a PA, I examine, diagnose and treat patients from all walks of life. I perform multiple procedures and have mostly full autonomy at work.
Watch closely to see what a day in the life of a PA really looks like. It’s not as glamorous as social media makes it to be. In this video, you’ll see:
    ➡️ My work hours
➡️ The volume of patients I see
➡️ The types of procedures I perform
➡️ Mini urgent care facility tour
➡️ What I eat at lunch
➡️ Problems providers face in urgent care
➡️Glimpse of mom life as a working mother

I love this day in the life...wonderful video. I've been more and more interested in the PA program but with me being 27, is it too late to start school? I haven't being able to go school but i love to help people. I think this would be a great career since you can work right after school without having to go through years of residency.

Hey there! I just want to share my own experience and hopefully, it'll help you with your decision. This year I turned 26 and decided to go back to school to finish my undergrad because I realized that my dream is to help people and I love medicine. The thought of being a PA never left my mind since High School so here I am finishing my B.S and then PA school, It's never too late! PA school is about 2 or 3 years so the only difference will be that you'll be 30 and still wondering the 'what if' if you get stuck thinking "is it too late?" or "am I too old?"
I do suggest reaching out to local PAs and asking to shadow them. Good luck & you got this!!

    • @erickvon8752

Age should not deter you from pursuing a career and gaining knowledge. If you are financially stable and are prepared to go back to school, why not. Even if you have a family, it will be challenging but not impossible. I am 24 years old. I am leaning to becoming a veterinarian, but PA sounds interesting, and I wouldn't mind doing that for a career. I still live with my parents and don't have a child to take care of beside my 4 dogs and turtles. I work at a small private animal hospital as a veterinary assistant. I interact with the patients and owners, but pay is low even a RVT pay is just barely above an assistant, especially for the amount of things they do. I wish there was a PA like job for Veterinary medicine.

It really varies. Sometimes 20ish on a slow day. Mostly in the 30-40ish patients a day. But keep in mind, it’s not low acuity patients. We function almost like a mini ER.

What’s the difference between a urgent care PA, emergency medicine PA, and trauma PA

    • @samingoshow
      @samingoshow  2 роки тому +1

UC PA works in urgent care, which is not in a hospital facility. Typically it’s an outpatient clinic with less acute patients. ER PA works in the ER, which is always in a hospital. Trauma PA treats only trauma patients in the hospital.
