I looked at the aim digital dash as well, my shop recommended a tunerview digital dash, they retail at $699 and it works really well, very customizeable and it honestly saved me from destroying my engine when a thermostat failed, watched temp rise live to an unsafe level and cut the car off then..

Nice! Now you can reply to all your question on the IG with a link from this vid lol. People will still ask tho. Keep it up man, one of my favorite builds on the net
Had a question on where you put your booster hose. Im trying to relocated mine and I’ve seen people put on the throttle body. Is that were your located?
No squirters after boring the block. And the K600 have some similarities in overall lift compared to dc 4.5 but the K600 is better for a fat midrange/broad powerband whereas the dc 4.5 will make good power in the mid but they shine moreso in the upper rpm range for a drag car. You can expect similar peak power out of the two but different shapes to the curve
@@ksisjdm okay thanks. I'm going to do a similar build as your setup. I'm just going to run an 87.5mm bore piston instead because red mixed reviews on 88mm bore on k24. Maybe DC4 camshafts. Just love the lumpy idle and car would be a daily as well.
it makes 300 on full exaust and that setup!!!!! holy moly I need me some ktuned headers and intake manifold!is your head ported also or stock a2 ports@@ksisjdm
@Childstar you may already have it but let me know if you want the original service manual for the 96-00 civic and it it just has a lot of info on your chassis in general.
I have an NPT to AN fitting on one of the ports on the intake manifold that connects to a 90° AN fitting on my brake booster hose. It runs underneath the intake manifold and around the side of the head along with my fuel line so it doesn't stand out too much.
Childstar, I've been following this car for quite some time. I'm especially impressed by the fact that you're using factory TSX rods in the bottom end. I'm struggling with putting a K24/K20 together and picking the right parts, the right compression ratio, the right cams, etc is driving me crazy. I've seen you do pulls in this car and it's STRONG. Do you have any advice as far as compression goes? Do you ever have issues with detonation, bad gas, etc with the 12.5-1 pistons? A couple shops that I've spoken with have told me don't go over 11.5-1 for a street car, but I want the opinion of someone who has built a motor and driven it for quite some time with seemingly little issues. And the RR4 cams, are they friendly for a daily? Thanks in advance and I gotta say, this is the cleanest K24/K20 I've ever seen, your attention to detail is awesome.
Thanks man for following for so long. Let's see...my setup is reliable for a few reasons that arent thought of commonly. For one, my engine is built with bigger capability than what I'm pushing out of it. For instance, my cams and compression...big cams and high compression but I'm holding it back with the 93 octane gas that I use, so I'm not running my setup at it's full potential. Decide which fuel you want to use. If you want to stay on 91-93 octane, going up to 12.5:1cr is a stretch. You wont be able to run as much ignition timing as you would if you were to use e85 at that compression. Your tuner will play a part in this too. Jtran who tuned my car had no problem dialing in my setup on 93 with my compression. Some tuners arent as comfortable or detailed with their tune to safely tune you. My cams definitely are street friendly, smooth idle, great midrange as well as top end power. They also give me room to grow power wise without needing to buy a new set of cams. I've never ran into bad fuel issues or anything. I only run 93 octane, never anything else. 11 to 11.5:1 is a good comfortable compression that wont hurt power and will be easier to work with for most tuners. I'd look into cams like the dc3.2, dc4, prayoonto 4, rr3, rr4. If you're not too sharp with your feet, a smaller throttle body will help low speed driving on the street. I've been on a 90mm for years and with a 8lb flywheel but I'm used to it and its easy for me. Some people cant adjust to how sensitive it is though.
If you think that's the only things missing, you're not as detailed as I am lol. I have a lot more things than that to do. Stock hood will not get painted, it'll be replaced, bumpers will get paint when the whole car gets body work and paint. Way too many important things to be done besides cosmetic improvements. Function and reliability are my top priorities, looks come dead last for me.
Yeah I agree, I've been with this car about 8 years so far. For your manifold question, it greatly depends on the extent of the engine build, the planned usage, and the desired rev range. So it's hard to be straightforward since one might outshine the other depending on the circumstances or build.
Ooooh okay, good to know! I heard there could be issues with running a system like that with a motor that's been built. But, good to know that this setup has worked for you!
Its recommended for boosted setups or setups requiring much more fuel to use a return style fuel setup to avoid any starvation. My car runs on plain old 93 octane.
Because they are billet cams made by Webcam who produces great quality cams and also because the specs on them are really great for road race usage with focus on midrange power and room to grow with the top rpm range for my setup. They suited my needs far better than the average drag racing spec camshafts on the market. There werent too many camshaft choices that catered to a broad power band when I purchased these many years ago
Hey childstar so i blew my k20z1 it seems the head is still good and was thinking of doing a frank build like you. I dont need all the fancy parts i just want it to work with as much oem parts as possible. What can and cannot use to make it possible?
The entire head. It's a direct swap to k24a2, k24a1 blocks. A k24a4 or k24a8 block will need new pistons to clear the full 50° vtc of the k20z1 head or be limited to 25° to avoid p2v contact.
@@ksisjdm alright cool so my other question is the swap is in a em2 now would i be able to use my a2 harness and kpro thats for an a2 on the k24 and would i need to upgrade all my motor mounts? Does the oil pain need to be swapped to a type s oil pan ?
@@ksisjdm so i went k24a and my current setup is skunk2 ultra 2 cams, skunk2 alpha springs and retainers, dual spring seats and valve seals, type s oil pump, walbro 255 pump, rbc ported to ktuned 72mm throttle body, custom cai, skunk2 alpha header, hybrid racing fuel rail, 1000cc injectors, 2.25 catback exhaust to a 4in muffler, stock bottom end made 246hp. My question is what can i do to get more power without having to build the bottom end? Or is it even possible to make 300hp without building the bottom end?
3.5" intake with velocity stack, 80mm tb port matched to that rbc, a 3" full length exhaust. Those alone will add more power. 300whp is possible without a built bottom end, but you need a better equipped head setup. Those cams are best suited for very high rpm usage, and the k24a head is a high velocity head with low volume so there's power left behind on the top end but it makes great midrange power. It takes an extensive build for 300whp without a built block or a really good fuel which wouldn't make it much of a daily usable setup anymore.
@@ksisjdm ok sounds good so it deff is still gonna be my daily so with the few adds you recommend 80mm tb 3.5 intake with the velocity stack and 3 in exhaust what kind of hp gain would that be
The centerfeed performed almost identical to the side feed. These two manifolds from ktuned have very minimal changes between them. Intake piping length may have been the only real difference in performance.
It's a spoon sports wiper blade and wind deflector. Keeps them down at speed. If you think that's dumb or pointless, my windshield molding will get blown out of the groove when I do pulls. So these work for me as intended.
