Hugo, your Mario Bemer Cap Toe Oxfords are exquisite...!! I love the burgundy too, such versatile colour with a beautiful chisel toe design and brogue accents. They remind me very much of the only pair of John Lob's that I have owned! Unfortunately they were taken from me when my case was stolen on a trip to one of the African nations! Hugo, you should do a Sartorial Talk on boots! You mentioned the high boots by Stivaleria Savoia you are having made. I have always wondered how these types of boots can be worn without looking absurd or being too feminine. I live in a cold climate, and taller boots would be perfect for the winter months.

I'm a big fan of Cie on aliexpress. For £150 they make a shoe to order with hidden goodyear welting, whatever painted patina you ask for, using imported full/top grain italian calf leather or crocodile/ostrich if you wish (£300+). Far superior specification and price to even Meermin. I hope you consider trying them out and doing a video on them.

I am a Seattle native and can enlighten you, a little. Snoqualmie is a mountainous area in the USA, in Washington State. Snoqualmie Pass is the place where most people cross the Cascade Mountains to get to and from the Greater Seattle Area. It is also one of the places we go to experience nature. Very majestic, inspiring landscapes: big pines and rocky slopes. Everything feels wild and regal and on a slightly grander scale.

  • @MrIanfurniss

Thank you for the insight & for once again allowing us to step into your world!
The stitching on the Stephane Jimenez shoes is absolutely beautiful! the contrasting white on the quarter is to die for!
I confess, I too would love a nice loafer, but on me, they always look like a pair of slippers. The only way I could possibly get away with a pair is to maybe wear them with a smoking jacket whilst carrying a nice glass of wine. Perhaps something to try!
Finally, a thought for your next pair perhaps: I couldn't help thinking that when you see the Stephane Jimenez first appear at 20:21 the contrast between white and black, that perhaps there would be an option to expand the collection with a contrasting pair where for example the toe extending to the quarter is done with a gold to rich brown patina similar to your Norman Vilalta Deacon boot, and then a contrast on the quarter in a slightly darker shade. It could also be done with the burgundy, but it would need to be a subtle contrast to avoid them looking like spectators.
Apologies for the lengthy comment, when I feel inspired I think aloud and type too much haha.

After watching this video about your shoe collection I am contemplating whether it is better to eat food or to wear beautiful shoes. And beautiful shoes keeps winning! Shoes are a direct reflection of one's mental state -- playful, formal, daring, unabashedly conservative, avant garde, etc. -- and thus are a window to the sole (pardon the pun)!

Hello Hugo, as always, thank you for this videos! One question, what things do you do to keep the edge of the sole clean? Is there any product for that or can we use cream/polish to finish it just as the leather?

A good brush and some cream will do the job my friend. Hugo

Are Santoni a good maker? I bought a pair of brogue Chelsea boots for cheap in an sale in Livigno Italy without knowing anything about them apart from that I liked the look of them. As I loved my Chelsea boots so much, I’ve since bought a pair of lace up brogue boots also by santoni. While searching for them I noticed many different styles of dress shoe I’d like to own 1 day

Yes Ryan, Santoni is a good shoemaker of course. It crafts so many different lines and qualities that it can be difficult to find your way in the collections (from decent to excellent). But it's a good company for sure. Hugo

Snoqualmie, a town of about 13,000 people, is about 40 minutes east of Seattle, Washington. As with many place names in America, the name is from the Snoqualmie people, a First Nations tribe.
I only know it as a flyfishing destination. The Snoqualmie River is known for its trout fishing. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of rivers in the Pacific Northwest, British Columbia and Alaska that are a mecca for the avid outdoors person who pursue any of the five species of Pacific Salmon, multiple species of char, trout and steelhead. I have flyfished from Northern California to BC to Alaska and all the way to Kamchatka in Russia.
There are many products named after places in the American and Canadian west coast. It seems appropriate that an outdoor boot would be named after a place there. Perhaps Justin Fitzpatrick has a connection to that area?
Maybe, to feel a stronger connection to your Snoqualmie boots, you and Sonya could visit the area and experience the outdoors with those boots on your feet!

I was wondering.... i live in a country where for the term "formal" shoes is very loose...... as long as its leather it is considered formal.... my question is ... is it okay to wear brouged wingtips for formal occasions where you wear a wear a suit... not necessarily black tie...... or will i need a something with less brougeing? ...... a wholecut with medallion perhaps???

I wouldn't mind bespoke boots. I get into too many situations where nice shoes would get trashed by dust, mud or water.
