- Do you reckon Syrup gets sick of all the walls in her castle waving like that?

The Boss Level made me Remember how annoying is the fact that you lose all your coins when you die. I Think only losing 50 to 100 would be better. Or maybe 10 if the game is feeling a little Mario Odyssey like.
it's a small thing but I just like how, even though there's no dedicated 'castle' or 'dungeon' visual theme to them, the boss levels are still all connected by their uniquely intense rendition of the lietmotif. It's something Mario Land 2 didn't really have; its boss levels felt like normal levels with bosses at the end even when their tilesets were unique, and I know technically the same is true of this game, but the music goes a long way to increasing that set of boss level gravitas.
i dunno if theres much point to my rambling, just a small game design observation this game makes me think about
Three of them (Pumpkin, Whale and Macro) played the Creepy theme, two (Tree and Mario) played the Athletic theme, and the last two (Space and Wario) had their own unique themes. All of the secret levels play Athletic.
Maybe the castle is just extremely hot.
10:14 if only it had a horn because then it would be a Narwhale
I always wanted to refight the ghost to see if it was genuinely hard or if those lost lives were just me. Thankyou for letting me clear that up without replaying the game.
3:22 Definitely seems to be the case since I've already seen it happen at least once before this instance throughout the level.
6:48 Nice that we finally know for sure how that mechanic works, too!
8:22 Yep, was about to mention it myself, but unsurprisingly so as we know how mighty Wario's posterior is.
8:48 Huh, why do the hearts get cut in half horizontally here?
10:00 Okay, now this is a secret of this kind that is genuinely hinted - arguably excessively, but personally I'll take it this way over it being too obscure.
10:53 That was quite a fruitful research, so many fun discoveries!
I honestly think the only waay to get the best ending is through grinding. That or you would have to be VERY lucky and skilled. Loving the playthrough.
I imagine the dev-intended path ends up being something akin to beating most/all the levels and then going back later to get all the treasures on separate runs, so yeah grinding is likely needed most of the time.
Can you attack the ghost fella with the coins you can pull out? Cuz if so, the fight would be easier and funnier metaphorically
I think you can't.
Yeah, the only way to see the latter of those two situations (999 at exit) would be to use the debug code that let's you modify the status in the UI... (If I'm remembering my cheats correctly)
Nhale? A brother of Nate Bhilldorf?
6:37 One of the oldest mysterys of the humanity finally has an answer
2:25 World 7-DK in Mario vs Donkey Kong begs to differ.
The ghost boss kind of resembles the ghost cat boss from Wario Land 4.
3:47 I mean you could’ve jumped on the enemy behind you to push it into the munchers but yeah
NHALE!!! TAKE HIS JACKET!!!
