    Love all these tips. I used to be very nervous talking to C-suite. I knew they were busy and that I needed to make my meetings with them effective because they will be short and often rare. I noticed that because of their lack of time, they tend to prefer meetings that:
    1. Move the needle;
    2. Benefit from their attention; - I wish you had mentioned here the value of reports. One sheets saved my life in the past.
    3. Build relationships with trusted individuals - which goes back to your point on building rapport.
    Over time, I learn to focus on the relevant information that is not to macro or to micro, but just the key data points they need and I will bring key questions that I need them to answer. I think using dashboards like the ones Hive provides was definitely a gamechanger in the way I approach my analytics and reporting skills with execs. This could be another great point to one of your videos!
    Whatever you do, just keep them coming. Really good content here!

    I would add the higher the person is, the less patience they have for less than succinct communication. They generally value you less as a person and more as a commodity that's either going to add value or not. There's a certain amount of ruthlessness it takes to get up there

      They’re not really ‘higher’ at all. Spiritually and emotionally, they are ‘less than’, just narcissists focused on the delusion of climbing a ladder that doesn’t really lead anywhere. Their lives are all about the ‘bottom line’. Corporations are pits that destroy the soul.

    This is all very helpful to get yourself noticed but this doesn't address the key area which is how going forward you need to gain an agreement esp. if the topic or subject is contentious but needs a tough C-suite decision.

    all valid and true points, but all also pretty much common sense.

      This is the biggest from my observation, look like them, learn their language, don't say more than required, they are so economical with what they say and what they listen to. They prefer using few words of substance and lastly always be positive, look more serious especially when telling a lie and never forget to support the lie with a story or an example to spread attention between the lie and its complementing stat.. or story

    Do you have any tips for getting employees to exemplify this for a smaller business? I bend over backwards but... that's a long story.

    What would you do when your executive director pays no attention to you? She just ignore you for whatever you say. She oftens put you down and harass you.

      I have seen clowns like that a couple times. Unfortunately you are better off working towards finding a new gig than trying to impress an insecure jerk.

      Punch her in her mouth! That corrects an attitude quickly!

      Happens a lot but from my experience its not your fault, a few managers are well trained and fit. U have to keep low profile, as you plan your next move

    If you are ready to move into the executive level, and you still have stage fright, then you are not ready. Stage fright should have been resolved when you were a mid-level manager. Let's move on to expression styles, topics and context that reflect an executive value system.

    I've done all of this and contact/employment was still ended due to cheap companies not having enough money to keep me. Some times it's the Race Pill but overall during these bad economic times a lot of peopel with these C-suite are still let go.

      Agree...black privilege is real and toxic. The racism needs to be addressed, DEI hiring is killing qualified candidates
