  • This gravel loop from the Cycling UK EXPERIENCE Hub of Cromer in Norfolk is a proper gentle off road gem. From Cromer's iconic pier you head southwards up (yes there's actually a gentle climb in Norfolk) through the woods past Amazona Zoo before looping south through the beautiful grounds of Felbrigg Hall. You then switch from Tudor splendour to off road adventure as deserted back lanes past medieval farms become gravel and grass bridleways swinging round up to the north again where you’ll wind through the woods towards the kind of panoramic hilltop coastal view you’d never expect in Norfolk. There’s even a short but sweet technical descent before you contour back into Cromer on a mix of snaking singletrack, pasture side path and a scenic golf course.

I did a slightly adapted version of this the other day - great fun. I've visited family in Cromer loads, but never thought to bring my bike until I saw the guide for this on the Cycling UK website, then watched this as a preview. Thanks! Did the Mundesley Meander too, different experience again, but a fantastic way to experience the area.

That’s so good to hear Jimmy, glad you enjoyed the rides. I’ll be adding some around Swaffham and Fakenham soon too.

As someone who is, more or less, Norfolk born and bred, it's been nice to hear someone waxing lyrical about the county on their first visit. You may be interested to know that the round towered churches are a major feature of Norfolk's architecture - 131 out of 186 in the country are in Norfolk!

Thanks for the info Richard. Looks like I'll be doing more routes round your area early next year so I'll make sure to mention that. Whereabouts do you live?

@@GuyKesTV No problem! I'm in Norwich so often cycle out along the length of Marriott's Way and back in via the Bure Valley Way. Always fun to race the steam engines, as you found out!

So Guy do you think oval rings make a difference on gravel bikes and what would you for in gravel bike and how much would get for 2grand?

Are you wanting more of an off road or mixed road and off bike Shaun?

@@GuyKesTV hey thanks for your time I have been into road biking and commuting to work for years however I went for a ride with some friends I was on my commuter/ winter steel trainer and they were on gravel bikes I used a planet x that my friend had a Ti frame and it was light for obvious reasons for about an hour and it was amazing it had a oval ring on the front a bit strange at first but okay. everyone I speak with says planet x stay away from them. I know really it the wrong time of year to go gravelling around but it seems as though this my new adventure. sorry it was a bit long.

@@shaunwilliamson9193 Oval rings are a very personal thing. I can take them or leave them TBH but then I'm always swapping between bikes and some lads I know swear by them. Planet X definitely have the best selection of gravel bikes (and availability) for your price range. They work with decent factories (same as Ribble, Alpkit etc.) and the bikes are generally totally sound. Like your friends say customer service isn't always a strong point if you do have an issue. The gamble will likely save you several hundred pounds though and everyone I know personally who's had one of their Ti bikes hasn't had a problem and loves it.
