Welcome to the first episode of our series on the Suez Crisis! It's a 7-episode wild ride through secretive international collusion, clashing nations, and imperial anxieties. It's a watershed moment in a variety of entangled histories: decolonization, the Arab-Israel Conflict, the rise of America as a superpower, the growing power of the UN, and much much more. It's a lot to take in, but we hope that we've made this series as digestible (and enjoyable!) as possible. Thanks to our TimeGhost Army members for choosing this series. My father (historian specialising in the Victorian age and in late C19th/C20th economic history) always used to say that Queen Victoria didn't really die until 1957 (immediate aftermath of Suez). In the context of any discussion of Suez I've always found that an interesting remark.

Foreign policy from 1850 to 1900 was somewhat covered in some great war prelude videos. It would be interesting to see a look at the Berlin Conference and the arguments during the Conference
True and a fact. The Berlin conference is downplayed and is not mainstream even though it was magnanimous and its implications felt today. I hope Indy does a series on it
The fact that France regards its overseas territories as being actual French soil, means that New Zealand’s closest neighbour is France, and *not* Australia, thanks to the proximity of New Caledonia to NZ.
