Your reaction to going up hill is my exact reaction to my first ride on and electric bike. I’m glad that it never goes away no matter how many times you’ve ridden one. Such a great thing to get into.
Oh the laughter of joy as you raced up the hill was just hilarious. The CYC motor is really giving you plenty of joy. I've found the x1 stealth motor gives me the same feelings. I don't ever use the throttle as I enjoy the torque sensing pedaling more than throttle action. Love the video's keep them coming Oh and those temps are really good. In Oz during the summer I had temps in the app showing 60c and the motor was fine. Ran at those temps for over 3 hours straight
You had me laughing so much when you was hitting the throttle going up that hill. I have a bbshd mid drive motor and love flying up hills too. That cyc x1 gen 3 is a serious bit of kit and love seeing just what it can do to hills. Great vid and take care out there 😎👍
Great video. I will be replacing the Bafang BBS02 with this motor. I already have a 52V 17.5 AH battery. I am wondering how much I would sacrifice by not having a 72V battery. Any idea? I guess I can try and if I don't like the power go ahead and get the bigger triangle mount 72V.
Brilliant video , thats amazing that bike I want to copy that , looks like you had the best laugh for ages , lol youve showed everything we need to know about that motor , only thing I wondet how reliable they are ??? my Bafang has 5000 miles no problems and still pulls like new very interesting thanks alot
That is amazing torque, it gives me confidence that I can build a similar bike to go off road with a trailer up hills in the countryside. Apart from the battery looking like a petrol tank the bike doesn't look conspicuously illegally powerful
I'm looking into this kit and I don't know if you replaced your rear cassette or not, but a lot of them use aluminum for the biggest cog (to save weight) while they use steel or some harder metal for the smaller ones! I think this means the powerful x1 motor is more likely to eat the biggest cog and wear it down faster
What is this motor like compared to a 3kw hub motor. 100nm torque so no slouch but 10kg of weight on the rear tire. Woukd be interesting ti see a comparison
I have a CYC pro gen3 installed on my fat bike. Below 10 celsius, the PAS is working 5 minutes and then stops completely. I must rely on the throttle to get back home. When I put the fatbike on indoor rollers, at 20 celsius, everything is working perfectly fine for unlimited time. What shoud be the problem?
How is the balance of that bike with the battery located where it is being so high up? Have you considered mounting it on a back rack or if you have tried that for other locations how did that affect the balance? I'm asking because I don't like the look but I do like the size because you never can have too much power or range as far as I'm concerned and though I don't like the gas tank look any large battery I think will look out of place in that position as well as affecting the balance I'm wondering if the weight being positioned high but further back will haven't even worse effect on the balance when riding (in particular uphill). I've seen many 72 volt batteries and they're all large and heavy regardless of whether their round oval Square rectangular triangular or otherwise
@@baconbuttties well that's good to know thanks for the quick response and do be careful as you don't want all those new positive feelings about the bike to all be canceled out and completely undone by one really bad experience that sees you getting rid of it and possibly an injury you can't overcome that results and you not even wanting to replace it with a less dangerous Ebike because even though they're much quieter they're easily just as dangerous as a motorcycle and maybe even more dangerous considering their weight structural integrity and all of the other factors that go into under estimating their potential for harm. Thanks for the video and information and ride safe
Rob rides. EMTB 1500w cycle build he named the beast. You could name your build BAT bike, As your shadow with your jacket when flying up the hill looked like batman. Good vid as usual. Folding bike or batbike. Which one will be your go to now.
Awesome video and a great demo of the x1 pro. I have one on the way and can't wait. My battery is quite large and I am wondeirng how much it will affect the load on the motor. How much does your battery weigh for comparison?
@@baconbuttties The bike I am installing it on is a yuba kombi and my custom battery is made from 50aAH NMC Prismatics. It weighs 16kg and the total weight of the bike is around 55kg. I am about the same weight as you. Your battery looks like it is around 10kg so the motor will probably only be moving an extra 20-30kg. Shouldnt be too much difference, although I went for the largest chainring option as I have a 52t currently.
Mine was on pre order as I had one of the first batches so I can't give a specific time scale, but once they said it had shipped it came in about a week.
I did another video about how much the bike cost and I did another steep hill climb and used the 2nd and 3rd cog down. I think it was 30 mph ish in the 3rd cog, the video explains it better.
Pedal assist on this motor is good as it using torque sensing and you do have 5 assist levels. There is also an app so you can adjust the power and levels to suit.
An "easy" hill climb now 💪 Maybe a 46T rear sprocket may be better 🤔 (less touchy on the throttle) even better I suppose would be if you could retune the throttle curve, less aggressive on bottom end. Your current 52T gear will help keep temps down during summer. An exciting hill climb for sure. 😊👍👌🚵
@@baconbuttties ooh ok, that's a big step down, I assumed the next cog down was a 46T, I currently run 11 - 46T (im upgrading/& building a 64V "nominal" lifepo4 A123 (High Discharge pouch cells) as we speak. 70V peak approx. In combination with a ASI Bac855 controller on my existing BBSHD EEB build. Can't wait to its finished 😎 Enjoy your ride with that "Beast" Baconbutties. Stay safe.

Good to know that it can take quite a bit more heat 👍👍

Yes the CYC has soooo much power for the size and it really is a blast to use 😁
Hello, from the video it was fun using the power lol,the temp gauge didn't change much when you checked it.certainly got up the hill quickly.
Yes I was surprised how cool the motor stayed 👍
Miles and smiles, good on you paddy.

congratulation !!
Thanks 👍👍
Thanks for showing off that motor.

Lots of Power there
Thanks for the video Mate
Cheers 👍
jeeze louise that is quick
It is just a tad on the quick side 👍👍
Nice bit of power on that CYC motor

It would also be nice to see your mountainbike going up a very very steep section of typical mountainbiking offroad trail.

Top speed will be less with 52 Volts and it also depends on how many amps your battery can supply.

I think the Gen 1 and Gen 2 version were pretty reliable, so hopefully the Gen 3 should be long lasting.

This has the advantage of gears so get more torque in the larger gears. Hub motor is great because you don't have to mess about with gears.

I have no idea, that's a strange fault.
I like your videos bro u remind me of Winnie the Pooh and that's a behemoth of a battery

Nice motor. Did the company ever sort out the cracked plastic cover on the motor?
Yes they sent it to me straight away 👍
Do you use a pre-recorded tape for that chuckle.
Haha 👍

Hi, did you say 60 ah battery 72v?where did you get your battery from? Looking for a quality battery for my build.
Yes I did say 60 amp. Will try and find link but UA-cam doesn't like direct links.
I have put the link for the battery in the description and it was from AliExpress.
Ok great, if not do you have any social media where I can pm you to get the link? Thanks
