Her and my Aunt that was part of the Band were inducted into the Michigan Hall a few years ago. Suzi couldn't make the trip, which sucks, I was finally going to meet Her.
I'm from Brazil, I was born in 85 and Suzi Quatro's first record was still part of my childhood/teenage years during the late 80s: to see Dolly Parton or Public Enemy being inducted to the RnR Hall of Fame but not Suzi Quatro, who had hit after hit, it is in fact "Rock" and reached the charts in a lot more countries than those two, makes no sense.
I grew up on the East Side of Detroit. There was a club called The Hideout that had bands on Friday nights. Suzi Quartro used to work the snack bar. She then played there with The Pleasure Seekers, which included other sisters of hers. Her brother, Mike, was also a musician, classically trained, and a local music promoter. They were a very musical family.
That band included my Aunt, She was best friends with Suzi. Chances are my Grandfather, a professional Photographer, took many of the pictures in this video. I have hundreds of pics and negatives of their performances.

I’m British - I often criticise America and Americans for what I see as your failings (blowing up stuff, insularity, racism, Jimmy Osmond) but what I will NEVER criticise is your wealth of talent. This band were 30 years ahead of their time and nobody knows they existed. At least Suzi went on to have a LOT of hits in the UK during the 70s. They were crap hits, mainstream stuff compared to this brilliant track. The coolest forgotten band ever.
My Aunt was in the band and there is a good chance my Grandfather, a professional Photographer took many of them. I have hundreds of Pics and negatives of their performances tucked away.
The Phone Jerks brought me here, so glad, for 1965 this song is real some punk rock shit. I thought the Phone Jerks were putting their own raunch into a tamer song, I see I’m wrong.
It's a great song but did they write it?? Dave Leone is credited. Who sang lead vocal? MaryLou Baker did the screams, apparently. Patti and Suzi Quatro are also cited as songwriters. Patti is given as the lead vocalist at the time. What a pain in the ass to find this basic info.
i hope there is some material for an LP, i know Norton record re-issue this single, why not the rest Suzy ? i love the tone and all the songs of this band i hear on the tube. or compilation.
Give the Iguanas a look up they were Iggy pops 1st group, Alice Coopers 1st band was the Spiders, don’t blow your mind is well worth a listen, it’s a fuzz monster.
Loving the pics and sound, a mix of fenders and the odd Gibson and that vox continental. Are those Sunn Amps they are playing through? It sounds like it's a one take garage stomper taking the guys on going toe to toe!
Pretty much correct, at least the first female PUNK band... Sisters Suzi, Patti, and Arlene Quatro and Nancy Ball, until they evolved into Cradle, and Jerry Nolan was their drummer prior to his days in the New York Dolls. Patti joined Fanny, another female band to come along after them, with the Millington sisters, for their final album. There have been many female singing groups, but they played their own instruments. All part of the early Detroit punk scene of the 60s with The Stooges and MC5.
It's a wonder these guys never made it big. Awesome music and hot as hell. I guess people were not ready for a rock and roll girl group (or at least that was what the record labels believed). Girls were relegated to Motown and pop music. Rock was too racy
Why is there a time stretch algorithm glitch sound to this? I heard the same glitches on spotify. Someone needs to go back to the original masters or maybe a vinyl collector has one they can make a rip from?
First (or one of) all-female rock group who played their own instruments and wrote (some of) their own material; there were several all-girl bands in the 1930s, and of course zillions of vocal girl groups in the 50s and early 60s.

Pois é ....
Eu sou de 1962, e lembro bem do sucesso da Suzy Quatro no final dos anos 70...
Her sisters too...

She then played there with The Pleasure Seekers, which included other sisters of hers. Her brother, Mike, was also a musician, classically trained, and a local music promoter. Do you remember where The Hideout Club was? Was it VFW hall on Harper Ave in Harper Woods?
Thank you for your comment. I allways guessed that there was something of a classical education in Suzi

First time I heard this was 3hours ago in the movie Sting (2024) and the vocals reminds me a bit of Howlin´ Pelle from The Hives.
It would be awesome if the Hives covered this!

Come on over to my side
Come on
Well I may not live past twenty-one
But WOO!
What a way to die
You've got the kind of body
That makes me come alive
But I'd rather have my hands around
A bottle of Colt 45
And baby come on over
Come on over to my side
Are you coming now, baby?
Well I may not live past twenty-one
But WOO!
