Ggggggg, grey hair, no botox, no implants or heavy makeup and doesn't she still look fantastic, a master of bass and growing older gracefully!
She's smokng hot. She was born so, will ever be. Suzi....
Exactly!!! I hope to be like her one day!
🤣🤣🤣
Whatever you say ....
That's the way to do it. U rock Suzy
Suzi Quatro deserves FAR more recognition than she has ever received, especially here in the States. Back in the mid 70’s, I played her songs like “Can The Can” at a dinky little college radio station, WGVU-FM in Dubuque, Iowa. Our listeners would often call up & request her songs, saying how much they liked the sound of her bass playing. Maybe NOW, in 2020, the rest of the world will FINALLY catch up with Suzi!
She was always very big in UK, Europe and Australia.. Surprising she was never that big in the US.
Suzi Quatro, the coolest grandma that ever walked on earth
True.
easy!
never heard of her. turn up the volume. turn down the suck
@Chris A let's not forget it was Suzie Quitro first, that where Joan Jett got her style from.
She's way too much of a legend to be calling grandma.
She's so effortlessly cool.
You’re either cool or your not….
Suzi your place in rock history is hugely significant! The first female solo rocker who played guitar. You should be in the R&R Hall of Fame!
Who played bass, you mean
How farking cool is Suzy Quattro and how cool is her dad buying her a Fender Bass Guitar as her first guitar!
He invested well.
He didnt buy her one. He gave her his. He was a musician.
OMG, I had the BIGGEST crush on Suzi when I saw her on Happy Days as a kid! Long live Leather Tuscadero!!
Me too! She was smoking, and extremely talented. She still looks and sounds fantastic.
Yeah, Leather ROCKED! \m/
Growing up in the 70s, she certainly was a reason why knew I was going to be straight. Even now that she’s older, she’s still got that spark of intrigue and mystery that is attractive.
Getting a 57’ p-bass for your first instrument is a definite leg up!
Ya think. Lol
You have to remember it was just a old bass then not a vintage work of art like it is now
Actually, when I was a teen,Suzi Quatro inspired me to play bass. 30 years later,I still play.
That is so awesome! My inspiration is Geezer Butler from Black Sabbath. Now I'm going to try to use her techniques as well!!!
@Mr. snickett He's a very clever bass player. Love him!!
I'm a lead rhythm player but Billy Sheehan nearly turned me to bass. I was nearly seduced and turned to the Bass side! 😂😂😂😂
me too
Cool. Do you play in a band?
P-Bass. Original. 1957.
She still has and plays the original 57 Fender Precision bass given to her by her father when she was 14.
Let's take a moment for that all to sink in....
...and the price tag of that bass when her dad bought it, and getting one today, let's taka a moment to let that sink in.......
I had to pause the video in that moment... any working 57 P-bass is valuable. This one is PRICELESS!!
That bridge isn’t correct for a 57......and not much wear given her play style.....just an observation
Oh wow. None of knew that. How can you be sure? Sorry mate; just bein' a dick.
true musicians don't suffer from GAS
Hey it's Suzi Quatro, AKA Leather Tuscadero.
Holy flashback.
I remember watching her on Happy Days when it first aired!
Wasn't she Pinky's cousin?
YES
I REMEMBER seeing her
She's NOT a girl who just happens to be a musician. She's a kick-ass musician who just happens to be a great gal too. Loved Canned Heat, BTW. Love ya Suzi. God bless you and yours.💜☺🙏👍
Word
😂😂
ok white knight. cringe.
@Randolph Hillert nothing. buzzwords that sound woke.
@Randolph Hillert Did you watch the video? She says she was categorized as "a girl" by the other boy musicians, but she didn't see herself that way, just as a musician.
This lady is so cool
Sassy and cute legendary musician . Suzi Rulezz \m/
She glommed Fonzies wallet
Thomas Kemer HAH!! yes she did and I think Mrs. Cunningham was the only one that called him Arther.
She’s so cool that Fonzie was her cousin in Happy Days.
The Fonz wasn’t her cousin. She played Pinky Tuscadero’s little sister.
Sit on it Andre
@@jackb348 LOL!
Jack B sit on it pmsl
@@Eddicat AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!
Incredible bassist. I learned so much from her. She understands rock and roll.
Very much so. Great song playing bassist. Exactly as a bassist should be…
I'd love to see her having a conversation with Carol Kaye. That would be interesting.
...Bingo...
Mesolithic Man so funny, I was just thinking that as I read you comment!!! 😂
She's not even in the same league as Carol Kaye.
Anyone who loves music should watch documentary......The Wrecking Crew
Donna Oberlin
Great minds.
Jack44M
And how good a singer is Carol Kaye? What does she look like in a leather catsuit?
an Icon!!! She should be on the same level as Ozzy but for some reason isn't. There are many of us who love you Suzi. Keep rockin!!!!
eh, well I guess I'll get smacked here :\ ...ok, as much as I wish I could agree, I cannot...Ozzy is on another level, Suzi is her own level, they can't be compared. Both rock, but come on...Ozzy?, get real :P
@@ABCDEFGHIJKELA... I feel the same way
Depends where in the world you were. Suzi was at the top in the early 70s in Australia.
@@pyrmontbridge4737 I'm in the us...in the 70s she was big everywhere...but mainly due to magazines like Circus and hard worked touring...but not to the levels she was in places like Australia.
@Lawrence Carver hmmm...he does play some other instruments but maybe not the bass... definitely the keyboard.
The very first concert I attended was Alice Cooper's Welcome To My Nightmare with opening act Suzi Quatro. My friend wasn't much of a Cooper fan but he loved Quatro. We both knew every song on her debut album when we went to the concert. I was on the floor and got fairly close to the stage. I was start struck. Plus I must say, Suzi was a bit of a looker. I have not heard those songs in years so I just played the whole album, I don't remember all the words but I certainly remember all of the songs. Thanks for the memories. Was fun to catch up.
How many of y'all remember "Leather Tuscadero?" Heyyyyy 👍
The Bass Queen of Lady Rockers!!
Can't wait to see the new Documentary!
Keep rocking Suzi!!!
She was supposedly going to get her own show but wasn't interested.
"Leather Tuscadero" from Happy Days😁👍. Loved her on that show!
You are still stunningly gorgeous ! And you are one of the most talented artists I have ever seen. Your duet with Chris Norman "Stumbling In" drives me outta my mind. You were the sweetest thing that ever hit a stage with a guitar in your hands. Both the late James Robison and you have given me a new respect for bass guitar !
Grew up on Suzi Q. It was the only music my mum listened to that I didn't hate haha. Legendary.
Why can't i fi8nd a cool chick like her to date? There ARE no more girls like her anymore.
Women's lib destroyed everything . . .
Look more. They are out there. Go to shows with bands who are all girls. Or just some girls in the band. Dont be surprised if they have a significant other Already. But you just might be lucky. Or better yet you find a music fan. I did. Shes so awesome. Good luck out there and hope you find your rock and roll girl. They do exist.
@Rob S how dumb.
First of all, she's not a chick.
And to you question, go out where the cool bands play. And just enjoy youself. And the right one will join you being yourself.
By the way, check the band out, pure fun and energetic: Los Bitchos.
Such an underrated musician. She's amazing! I didn't imagine she would give such nice interviews.
I had such a crush on her.
She overflows coolness.
What a legend. This lady championed "Girl Power" before The Spice Girls were even a pipe dream
Go waaaaay back. Kleenex, SLITS, Raincoats....wrote and played their own songs/instruments.
yup, without having to say it! She lives it. And when she plays, you don't go that's pretty good for a girl, you say, wow, that's a good bass player.....
@@johnnyrotundo6483 Spot-on. It wasn't even weird that she was a girl. Girls were accepted as musicians for years then suddenly they start pretending like they weren't.
@@chroniclesofbap6170 I think things shifted in the 80's with the hair metal band culture.
I bought an Audi Quattro back in the late 80s and nick named it Suzi.
Great car!!
Thats a $14K bass she's holding
And she deserves it.
She likely will take that bass to the grave.
BTW you can tell it's old... the G string is very close to the edge of the neck so likely it's gotten its wear/tear/stress all those years, but it still sounds like the real thing.
@@GVike Erm, what? How does the distance of the G string to the edge of the neck indicate age?
RodShop yeah I thought that lol as if from many years of playing you wear down the wood ( neck ) .., haha never heard so much shit .
Well considering that is HER first bass, I would bet it's worth a lot more.
So beautiful then and now. She's perfect in every way.
Gear Factor just hit another high. Brilliant choice
Suzi Quatro was absolutely huge in Australia. Huge following
She was also huge in Connecticut, USA.
Devil gate drive. I saw her play in a club at Sunshine Coast QLD Australia in early 90s. She's got a real good technique.
Hate to tell you she still is.
Not was, she still is! We love her here
I'll never be as good as her, but I ain't giving up!
"My Grandma's 70 years old and she can still kick everyone's ass on the bass."
I toured with her son, lovely chap!
Fantastic! LOVE Suzi. Thank you for posting this, Loudwire!
Rockin' at 70 ... respect!
Wow, what an awesome gal. So genuine and down-to-earth and looking great at her age. Really enjoyed watching this.
Bass player and drummer “Engine that drives the Car”. So true.
Suzi's dad Art Quatro played the organ at Olympia Stadium for Red Wing games.
She hasn't changed a bit... Slightly older but THE SAME... GOOD TO SEE SHE'S STILL ROCKING
Suzi Should have been inducted into ' The Hall of Fame ' back in the Mid 80's !!!!! NO DOUBT !!!!! Love You Suzi
I remember seeing Suzie & Mike at the Belle Isle clam shell theater in Detroit in the early 70's, I was just a little kid way back then.
Hey, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ???????
I am probably the only guy in US that knew who she was before Happy Days. Edit around 6:30 think that riff is on Alice Cooper Schools Out album someplace. If you are into bass that's another great one, Dennis Dunaway
Thats a shame actually; that her success in the UK and Australia didnt translate into success in her homeland. She should have been just as big in the US.
Dirk, I hate to break your soul like mine was thrashed, but not everything you THINK is Dunaway was actually Dennis on record. Studio musicians (the same guys that recorded The Partridge Family and The Archies albums) were pretty much the entire School's Out and Muscle of Love albums' staff, except for Vincent Furnier, of course...
Ha! Not the only one! My family was stationed in Izmir, Turkey in 1974 and they played "48 Crash" and "Can the Can" in the discos (Turkish version of a night club w/ dj) as well as "Ballroom Blitz" by Sweet and "Burn" and "Might Just Take Your Life" by Deep Purple. This was my sr. year of high school--I graduated in '75, came back to the states, and it was right in the middle if the Disco era---aaaccckkk!!
@@johnalex6309 The only overdubs I ever heard of were late Glen Buxton
I'm 18 and DAMN I was looking at Pics of Suzi Q from the 70s N dayum she was a major babe 😊😊😊
She is genuinely cool. Well spoken and fantastic musician. She looks amazing...still has a youthful glow.
Can the can. My 1st concert. Brisbane festival hall. About 1974 or 75. 👍🇦🇺
It's a pity bass volume is too low.....
Still playing her childhood bass, so fucken wicked can only imagine how good those frets feel under her fingers after all those years
I saw a Suzi Q gig in a club in Melbourne, Australia about 20 years ago and she rocked then and she rocks today - Total legend.
Evan Murphy saw her at festival hall in 74 I think
@@kirklenagh3095 No. It was in a club in the late 80s in Bulleen. The club is long gone now though (pokie venue now I think)
There is a Suzi Quatro documentary people should check out. It is called Suzi Q!!!
Suzi Quatro is LEGEND
Always in our heart
A nice interview of your self and guitar, interesting about the 1959 fender guitar. Thanks for being your self. And you have a nice Elizabethen home. God bless you.
Still hot and still rocking
Back in the early 70's my side hustle was doing public address announcing for the Detroit Red Wings. I would have pregame meals with the Olympia Stadium organist who kept telling me about his amazing daughter who was a star in Europe. Nearly half a century later I'm happy to see that Art was right, Suzi you are a STAR!
Hi Suzi I’m Warren from Australia, I went and seen you at Mudgee Day On the Green and it was a great concert. Your a great singer. Cheers
Charming as always. Talented and beautiful human being. Much respect from your adopted country, Australia.
Happy belated cakeday greetings to Miss Suzi Q. A great favourite here in Australia. Chinn and Chapman may have given her her recording start, but Australia turned her into a superstar- at least here!
The first album I bought with my own money was a copy of "Can the Can" on cassette in Canberra.
I went to school with Mickey Quatro in Canton Michigan how cool! He was a great drummer his father jammed in a band .
Absolute legend. I was listening to her first album in the car yesterday.
I know it’s a cliche, but what an inspirational musician. Great women too. Love you Suzi!
Everybody calls you cool! That's a lots of pressure! I did think you were foxy on happy days and even had a girlfriend ( 10 years older than me) who was an extra on the set at Paramount! I pawned my only bass that was more shaped like a telecaster! Thanks for sharing your riffs Suzie!
Suzie Quatro and Carol Kaye...if I can imagine.......
What do you think people, a good pair ? ..🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
One of the greatest female rockers who has ever lived.
“Hi, I’m Suzie Quatro” - As if we didn’t know! :x
Me: Stumbling in...
SQ: Fire light will catch us Stumbling in.
59 Fender precision bass, 1st instrument, so jealous!!
I thought her name was a stage name, but her last name IS Quatro!
Suzi 4...lol!!
Her paternal grandfather was an Italian immigrant with the surname Quattrocchi, which was shortened by an immigration official. Fun fact - she is Sherilyn Fenn's aunt.
She could be my grandma. Just kidding my girlfriend.
I didnt know yet that I love Suzi Quatro
I wanted a black leather jacket so bad because of her. My mother said I couldn't wear anything like that til I graduated....so...I bought a black leather jacket in June....lol...pushed the sleeves up and wore it anyway. Baaad girls!! Lol.....love ya Suzi
Wow, haven't heard anything about Suzi Quatro in decades. Good to see she's still kicking around and looking healthy.
I've jammed with her a couple of times.... she's as cool as she looks....
I was watching Happy Days today and seen Leather Tuscadero. So I came here.
She still looks the same, one of my many crushes
One of my favorite bassists, male or female, don't matter to me, Suzy rocks! Drummer too only makes me more of a fan. Suzy needs to play with Gina Schock. Now THAT would be a rhythm section!
Suzi is a legend. Multi talented and she really knows how to rock and roll!!
She should do a more serious and informative take on this, with better sound quality, just saying. This presentation is too casual.
Anyone Ever see the episode of "Happy days" Where Suzi quatro plays the character of "Leather Tuscadero" who dated Ralph malph and was the younger sister of "Pinky tuscadero" Fonzie's old flame. lol
Leather was so much hotter than Pinky, I remember it well.
Always checked TV guide to see if "Leather" would be on. Those were the days... 1977, 1978....
Absolutely 👍
Must see tv on Tuesday nights on ABC
Yep. The double hip slap and gun finger lol 🍻
She is just as cool today as ever! Love Suzi!
“Choices always were a problem for you.” Tool Opiate 😃
(the trivia riff)
Dude, this is a great comment!
Suzy quatro é demaissssssssssssssssssssss
Without her Joan Jett would have been inspired somewhere else. Lord knows where it would have ended up.
Always wondered if the song "Suzi Q" by Greedance Clearwater Revival was about Suzi Quatro.... Hmmm.
respect to Suzi, she is 5ft tall, playing a guitar with a 34" scale length ,that's a hell of a stretch for little hands.
Small hands suck if you're a bass player...
Donald Cummings I have small hands and I play bass. I had some trouble at the beginning, but now (after 7 years) I can play it almost easily. My teacher gave me a lot of stretching exercises to do week after week
@@donaldcummings8407it does not matter really, look at Carol Kaye. Its the left hand thumb pivoting on the back of the neck of guitar that gives huge travel distance for the other fingers. Try it, believe me, it works.
Y'all musicians that didn't give yourselves over to drinking, and drugging; (too much anyway, hee hee,) why, music kept you all in your youth as far looks go anyway, You're like a perfect example Ms. Quatro.
Suzi,, you are the inspiration for me becoming a bass player after seeing you at Melbourne's Festival Hall Australia on December 6,,, 1974 as an 11 year old and I totally understand about us and the drummers in the engine room and May I say,, you drive an incredible vehicle time and time again.
I have your dvd Suzi Q and all your albums from Can the Can through to No Control. This is one of your best albums with great musician ship and song writing with your son Richard.
Thanks for making us feel good whether it be playing your records or seeing you on stage hitting us hard in the chest with that driving thumping bass of yours.
Please do more videos like this Suzi and above anything else,, thankyou and thanks for sharing and thanks for being you 😘
Stephen Costello I was at that gig too as a 12 year old at my first concert!
I made my own bass 2 years later and still play now 44 years later!
Learnt to play by listening to Suzi’s songs and Paul McCartney.
Loved this video!
@@julianjones9074 Wow Julian and maybe we crossed paths exiting out of that great building and that's so fantastic about your bass and bass playing.
Absolutely perfect mate and keep rockin' 👍
A goddess to us bass players...
Did she play on Metallica’s black album? Sounds the same.
It would have been the expected thing at the time she started out for her to stand in front of a mic, look pretty and sing with a band behind her. But no, she was part of the band. Suzi was, for me, the first 'Rock Chick' and she's a far better bass player than I'll ever be. A true rock icon if ever there was one.
I didn’t think I’d find myself interested in everything she was saying, but I was. If you asked me she still looking good. She’s going to age like Lauren Bacall, The older the sexier.
I was born in Arica Chile 1959...I be been fun of you since you was 17 Suzy..you rock for ever
I already played bass when Suzi became famous in Germany, I was maybe 14 years old and played my first bass, a Hoefner 182 short scale. The Precision on Suzi looked so big, but I had more eyes for the girl in leather clothes than for the bass.
She is a legend, and I would lie if I'd say, that she didn't have some influence on my playing.
All that talent in an attractive package !! Infatuated with her since she was Stumblin' In ! What a great musician ! ROCK ON, LADY !!
I seen her and said ,wait a minute it`s that girl from the TV HAPPY DAYS.
LOL!
Suzi, I still love you 50 years later.
I was totally in awe of Suzi Quatro when I was a teenager (late 70s). She's still awesome (and I'm now 55 years old!). Thank you so much for this. What's so apparent is that she still lives and breathes music. Gotta admire that!
Suzi must be given her place in the Rock.nRoll Hall of Fame.❤🎉
Would love to see Suzie & Carol Kaye play together.
I like Suzi but Carol Kaye was a far superior bass player.
Ouch! P basses @ DAWN:NO survivors! (As much as I LOVE Suzi, my money's on Carol!)
Damm this is a waste of time... the Bass should have been plugged in, after all, it's all about the Bass playing and we can barely hear it.
Get good headphones
Do a search for the song "48 Crash" by Suzi Quatro on youtube, she still looks awesome and has lost none of her coolness.
Oh Suzi, what memories you have invoked in me. From mimicking you with my pretend guitar (tennis racket) and my hairbrush for a mic. Good times, GREAT music. I never could scream as well as you though. 😆
