Could the belt be damaged after running it with the bad tensioner for a couple months? I'd like to skip replacing the belt. Also, how do you know that the proper tension is reached? Just by eyeballing?
If the bearing on the idler of the tensioner is failing it will overheat your belt. There is no exact way to check tension other than measuring if you have an excessive amount of deflection.

I just received the part from Rock Auto, and I do not know how to set the tension of the new tensioner ? is it control by the hex socket ?
It is a bolt molded into the tensioner that is used. Use a long handle wrench and socket to apply clockwise leverage to remove the belt.
Thanks Mike, I just did it. It is pretty simple but the room is tight ! @@Sunshone7311
Is that oil residue by the motor mount? Because I have a 16 sport and I am concerned that oil is sipping through a gasket.
Is your oil level low when you check the dipstick?
Does anyone know the order I’m having trouble finding the diagram
I drew it out in my video
Can a bad tensioner cause check charging system to come on? Because I have a 2016 civic with 46k miles and it has all sign comes on
Thanks for the video; mine started whining at 15,200 miles....not happy!
dealer should def cover that
hey man thank you so muchh for the videooo

Do you happen to have a diagram of how the serpentine belt goes for this car?
I drew it out in my video
do you know how to do a camry se sealed automatic trans fluid change?
Is the 8mm reverse thread?
Did you ever find out? I'm trying to replace now and cant get it to budge
Marco Bueno it’s not reverse just hard to remove feels like you are about to break the bolt then it budges. Sorry best way I could describe
@@cnote2774 thanks I just let it sit in wd40 for a while and yes when it finally move it sounded and felt like I broke it
Marco Bueno yeah crazy how tight it was. Glad to hear it worked out!
Great video! Thanks for posting. At what point (or at all) did you have your valves adjusted?
I had mine adjusted at 147k. Way overdue but glad it finally got done. Rec. I believe is 100k along with spark plugs
Oh yea I'm a major fan of the accord I'm almost curtain tat this will be my next car.
+Me. Boombuyay it's a great car.
how did you find what direction the belt goes
threads go down, smooth side faces up
The sound you heard did it sound like a belt slipping squeaky kind of sound, I'm at 83,000 miles 2015 Honda Accord Ex-l 4cylinder.
It's not a squeaky type sound, it's more of a click/knocking diesel engine type sound. Here's a video when of mine when I had the issue: ua-cam.com/video/6FwrlsjXCJo/v-deo.html
I'm having the same issue on my 2013 Touring V6. Is part number 31170-5G0-A01 and/or 31170-5G0-A02 correct? When I search around, I see some with groves on the pulley and some without. Both having the same part number(s). Any help would be appreciated.
DO YOU HAVE A VIDEO OF THE ALTERNATOR REPLACEMENT?
Not yet, alternator failures on Honda Accords are pretty rare. As soon as it does, you can be sure a video will be made.
Thanks man I'm about to do this on my car
nice video very informative. At what mileage should the timing chain be replaced? thanks.
The timing chain on this vehicle is a life of the engine part and shouldn't have to be replaced.
Michael Borquez Thanks
I have a 2014 and I have a whirring noise around the alternator area. I thought is was the alternator until I saw this video. Could you describe the sound please? Thank you so much. How about belt positioning?
I also noticed you mention in the video that if you turn it and grinds that's how you know. Thank you for being specific. It helps to be able to identify the problem. I was about to replace the alternator.
It does sound like a whirling sound, almost like a bad power steering pump (our car doesn’t have one but it does make the same sound).
Here is the diagram:

Michael Borquez I posted a video of my issue for everybody to watch. I hope the noise can be heard. Here's the video of my issue.
ua-cam.com/video/ZkjPzm-Qlgo/v-deo.html
My Honda Accord 13 also has that same sound! I went to a mechanic and he told me it was the alternator. Did you end up figuring out what the problem was?
@@aweckz408 I have a video on my channel titled supercharger accord showing the noise
My dealer warned me to torque correctly. Does anyone have the correct torque specs for 2013 Accord 4 cylinder. I removed the 8mm hex and the 12mm bolt but not sure what torque to tighten to
17lb ft for the 8mm hex, 41lb ft for the 12mm
Did yours make a whinning noise when you start the car and accelerate
Yes
yup I made a video titled supercharger accord to show the noise
Did you get a rattling noise by chance
rattling noise may be because of low oil
Use an extende magnet tool as well
Great video to the point!
How do you change the water pump on a 2014 Honda Accord sport?
Dominique Pierre Coming soon, I will be tackling that job in a few weeks.
Do you have to remove the tensioner to remove the alternator? Its driving me crazy
I haven't had to remove the alternator yet, but the tensioner may block access to the lower alternator bolt.
Michael Borquez yep thanks man it in fact was blocking it, didnt have my tools at the time so it was a pain. Got it today , honda shouldve just moved the bolt just a bit smh
That sucks, the design engineers almost never think about us poor garage warriors.
I like the part where he showed how to put the new belt in
Does anyone know if there is enough space to remove AC compressor? When I looked at it last night it seemed like radiator fans may be in the way...
make a video on how to put in the serpentine belt ...replaced the pulley but can't seem to find a diagram my belt goes in loose & can't seem to figure it out ..
www.hondapartsnow.com/genuine/honda~belt~acg~31110-5g0-a01.html
Michael Borquez THANKYOU that would have been helpful yesterday lol all we did was look at another cars belt to figure it out 😑 running like a champ again no noise at all thanks
I have a vid and drawing showing it all from start to finish
