I'm genuinely interested in this game now. The way the info is presented is very detailed and easy to grasp... And the Total War music helps to set the tone of it's epic scale 😁
Being totally new to Warmaster, this cleared up a lot of things for me: stands vs units, how many in a stand, etc. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks.
This is awesome, really looking forward to further installments. I would love to see slideshows of relevant Warhammer battle art sprinkled in between the shots of the minis to really reinforce the concept of what you see VS what happened which is where a lot of the magic on wargaming happens
Thank you sir for great videos. I have seen skaven faction focus maybe for 20times. As a beginner i find them very helpfull. So videos about rules are very welcomed. Looking forward to my first game on saturday. 😁
I find it interesting that there is no duelling mechanic, or a special ability for heroes to slay monsters (as that is the heroic thing to do), along side more support abilities.
Really great video series, been so helpful in getting our first game off the ground. Question for you about monsters - do they disregard excrss wounds after being shot or disengagement from combat in the same way as regular units do?
@@iainmstanding I am an idiot - I commented on the wrong video, ha! Must have auto played or something and thought I was commenting on your most recent WFB 3rd edition video: "The Most Dangerous Game". The cyclops in that video is awesome -- looks a bit like the older Ral Partha one, but bigger and chunkier.
Thanks again for all the help! Hopefully the last question for you. This is regarding supporting infantry who have been in a combat where the unit they supported has been wiped out. I gather if the wiped unit did worse than the opponent then they retreat, however what if they 'won' e.g witch elves supported by spearmen scores 10pts and opponent scores 9pts but wipes them out - what would the supporting unit do? 🤔
Supporting unit is part of the combat so if they get a higher score due to support then their side wins, even if the unit they were Supporting is wiped out. They can then pursue the retreating enemy. It is only when all units on one side are wiped out that the other side automatically wins.
Hey Ian, great vids. I was wondering if 1:72 scale models would be acceptable for use in WM? Obviously they will be on correct stands, but is it like unpainted models? This one goes out to the peanut gallery too.
You are free to use whatever scale models you like provided your opponent is happy . So long as the vase size is correct it us really a matter if taste. I mix and match 10mm and 12 mm models, some people use 15mm as well.
Thank you for this wonderful series. I just have one question about the facing of stands. Where do I find the rules in written form? I am somewhat to stupid to find it in the revolution compendium.
Great work! Will share with my group 1. Correction? Chariots CAN travel on hills, which is maybe THE most common terrain type....I know what you mean but a new player might be confused by chariots on hills

Interesting. I have a sizeable undead army which I bought back when the original game came out but we found that we didn't like the rules very much. Question for you about monsters - do they disregard excrss wounds after being shot or disengagement from combat in the same way as regular units do?
Yes they do, although the biggest ones can be badly hurt which reduces them to half stats once they take over half of their hits.

I got it from polar fox miniatures.

@@iainmstanding thank you for quick reply.
Awesome! :)
Very nice introduction! I already ordered 2 armies and printed the rules.
Which music is used in this video?
Total war Warhammer soundtrack and Total war Rome soundtrack.
Overall excellent video. I am either blind though (happens a lot) or there ar no links as mentioned at the end of the video.
The links are all in the pinned comment I put on the video. Should be at the top of the comments section.
Great vid! What music is that in the very beginning?
It is from total war medieval 2. Kyrie Eleison by Jeff van dyck .
Nice video... I'm interested and looking for all of the links you mention in the video. Is there another place I can find them?
Links should be in the pinned comment from myself.
Great work! Will share with my group

Yes, hills can be crossed by all units. Clarification on movement through terrain will be in the next video! Thanks for watching.
@@iainmstanding no problem! Yeah I kinda figured you were keeping it high level, that’s the only piece I would have mentioned, super good though
