In this video we are going to show you how to remove and replace the outer tail light bulb on GMC Terrain. Unfortunately in order to replace the bulb for the brake light, tail light, and turn signal light you will need to remove the outer tail light. In order to do that all you are going to need is a screwdriver.

One thing to note at the 2:19 mark is that the rubber from the bottom of the quarter glass has to be re-finessed, so it goes over the top of the taillight. Otherwise, you may get a water leak into the lamp assembly.
It can be done with a straight finesse plastic stick, or other straight plastic tool, by going under it and moving the stick to the right under the rubber until it covers the top of the lamp.

Pulling the housing assembly out is the worst part so I'm glad I watched this video first. It does sit tight in there so it feels like you are going to break it pulling it out. You won't break it, just give it a firm pull or two until it pops out.
