  • This handy "interface" has One Major Flaw, however, not a deal breaker.
    Recordings were compressed and leveled for the video, but no EQ.

    Have you ever used the "the t.bone MicPlug USB Inerface" from Thomann? It's a few years older. And I wonder if someone could compare them. I already know the t.bone has no software, and is not as loud.

      Ah no, in fact, I've never bought anything from Thomann even tho they are all the rage. It does seem handy, tho' I can't imagine it being that good for that price. Like maybe, cause you aren't paying a name tax, but realistically . . . idk.

    What is the red thing that you plugged Shure MvX2U?

    • @DATT
      @DATT  8 місяців тому +2

      The long red stick ? It's an SE Dynamite. Booster preamp. Pretty much the same thing as a Cloudlifter or Fet Head. Pretty standard for an SM7B, in the long run, even tho this works well with the SM7B alone, I have be preferring to use it with this preamp installed.

    The shure mvx2u actually sounds the best and works the best with the sm7db. However shure's software sucks

    • @DATT
      @DATT  8 місяців тому

      That makes sense. I've been using it with the Dynamite Stick, which would be similar to the 7db's built in boost.
      And yeah, I'm liking this thing, but the software is my biggest complain. Likes it's pretty good but that monitoring.
      Since I figured out the work around, it's been working smoothly and hassle free for me. It's actually "just works" surprisingly well in my workflow.

    Almost perfect but wish it has physical phantom power buttons. A miss from Shure.

      So far that hasn't bothered me. It lives full time with a preamp that needs phantom, and it's like, you kind of need to use the software anyway . . .
      Just the software needs to be better.
      I recently got a notification that there is an update, I suppose I should try it, but I don't like messing with things when I get them working. I've had it happen where updates have broken features before.

      @@DATT @DATT I have collection of mics that some of them don't need phantom power. Such a hassle to go to the software to just turn off the phantom power if you are not recording to a computer (eg a phone or tablet). maybe i have to just buy more of the mvx2u for each mic lol

    • @DATT

      @@syafiqzailan Does the software suck on mobile devices ?
      I figure you need to use the software anyway so you can adjust gain and what not when switching mics.

      OH, how come?
      To be fair, I kept this unit and have been using it. It's performed well once I figure out how to work with it.

    I also purchased this and am very disappointed.
    When I connected it to my Windows PC and tried to record something, it sounded weird.
    I regret buying an audio interface for this money.

    • @DATT
      @DATT  8 місяців тому +3

      I didn't find it disappointing, not like a MV7, but they just need to tweek the software a bit.
      I did find it didn't sound that good at first, I had to make adjustments and get a feel for how it works, but that would be common on any interface I would think. I do have many years experience with this kind of thing, so I can't really see it as well for an average user perspective. I'm happy with mine for the most part once I figured it out, and figure out how to work with/around the monitoring bug.
