    Excellent tutorial! This isn't just helpful for this mic, but for audio mixing software in general. Would love this mic eventually, but don't have a slouch of a USB mic as it is, so won't be for a while probably. Already had some knowledge and experience messing with audio, and these reminders were still helpful to me. Thank you.

I went ahead and made the plunge and got my BEACN mic delivered 3 days ago, and OMG this thing is AMAZING!! its a little daunting on the overall capability, but when you get it dialed in on the software its is AWESOME!!

    Heyo! Great tutorial. For it being quiet after making all your adjustments just make sure in the compression tab to set your make-up gain back up! That way you don't have to raise the output level on the end. I edit dialog for work and compression make up gain is one of the things that many people miss :)

    • @DKTD23
      @DKTD23 2 роки тому +1

      Just got this mic today - What is the make-up gain level to go up to? it's at 0 by default.

    • @Angeldelanote
      @Angeldelanote 2 роки тому

      @@DKTD23 I’m sorry I never saw this! The makeup gain is in the plug in you use for compression. It’s the output knob of the plug in. For example you set a threshold on your compressor and when you talk you can see if it ducks your audio -3 dB or -6db so then the makeup gain knob should match that but in the positive values. Makeup gain would be +3 or +6 etc etc.

    Harris, it is interesting that this mic has some of the "moustache" EQ baked in. The Deity mics also seem to have this from their sound, but no one seems capable of looking at the frequency responses of popular mics. If only there was someone with the expertise and ability to publish a video doing just that...

      There is one hundred and thirty two billion four hundred million six hundred twelve thousand and forty eight videos on that exact subject on you tube. Microphones are an art form that stretches slightly beyond gaming and streaming. There are microphones costing 10s of thousands of dollars that make grown sound engineers cry just hearing the beauty of someone speaking in to them. And those are just the better copies of the even better originals. The most minute differences between every well known microphone have books written about them.

    • @RyanVierre
      @RyanVierre 2 роки тому

      I thought the same thing being a Mac user and I love the idea of it. The only problem (for me) is connecting actual studio monitors, as there are no line outs on their devices. It ruins the minimalist aspect of Beacon products because you would need an audio interface which causes redundancy and more money being spent. I would like to use this for music production/streaming by the way, if you wanted to know.

      in the routing software, you can add a second mic, you loose the ability to have an Aux 2 channel, but worth the trade off. Even with a second mic, that leaves you 7 other virtual channels

I also just picked up this Mic and it sounds really awesome out of the box. But I did have one random question for you. I noticed in your video that the color of the ring on the mic on your video really pops, especially the blue. I don't know if it's your lighting or if you are doing some kind of color processing, but on my live stream the color of the mic comes out as white even though I have blue selected. I am also using a DSLR as my main webcam (Canon 5D Mark III) if you have any tips or suggestions on how to get the color of the RGB on the Mic to show correctly that would be great.

    Hey Harris! Do you happen to have a quick fix for audio normalization? I have an issue recording gameplay vids where I'll adjust the Gain to favor my normal speaking volume - but then whenever I'm talking in a hushed tone it's too quiet and when I yell or get excited it's too loud.
    Obvious, I know! But it adds hours to my edits, as I manually make cuts and adjust gain for every single moment in post.
    Is there a handy tip you've got for a specific filter and settings to balance that out automatically?
