- Owen stepped out of the office for a coffee break, and the Roland rep stepped into his demo shoes and now tries to show him up. It's Jersey versus Long Island in the demo smackdown of the century!
Okay, actually it's just a demo of how to do beats with the updated Roland Fantom G6. But it's so exciting!
Wow - 13 yrs later the most stunning intro to the phenomenal capabilities of the mighty Fantom G!!
THANK YOU so much for this video!!!!!!!!! You guys at Rolland are the best!!! I am torn between Korgs and Rollands but the more I learn about Rollands, I have to have more. Thank you!!
This board has great sounds in it and of course everyone has an opinion when it comes to creating music. I think the point to the tutorial is how to get up and running quickly. Not everyone would want to have a computer on stage and this powerful keyboard can pull off about anything you need to do live. There is a learning curve but the learning curve on a DAW is also steep.
G6 has been an awesome workstation" Only the G6 does everything i need - Complete Synth.
Ill say this i sold my Motif about 6 months ago to buy this and i don't regret it one bit. This machine has over 70 drumkits in it and once you've used this screen you will NEVER go bucket a smaller screen. All motif models has the same 64 drumkits in them and they too are very good ones but for me the Fantom G is just a BEAST. The keys on this keyboard is just the best I've ever felt on any 61 keyboard. This board here is truly beyond its time. The ability to use a mouse is like the best thing ever.
+Derrick Lyles I'm a G6 owner as well going on 4 years. I don't regret it at all. Not perfect but it does what I need it to do and does it very well.
***** Glad to hear from you. Yeah, I took a break from my Fantom for a little bit due to a nasty break up. But I need it for a project a friend is working on. So I hooked it up and started playing some parts and laying down some tracks. It was like seeing an old close friend again after a long time away. I really don't understand the hate for the G6. Some of the sounds aren't the best but you can load in, sample and create so many of your own sounds that it's a moot point. The whining over the lack of touch screen is retarded when the keyboard has mouse support which I'd much rather have. The G6 still has one of the best sequencers I've ever used and I've used some really great keyboards in the past. DAWs are all well and good but dedicated keyboards are for me because I can actually play, learn to play better as opposed to letting a computer do all of the work for me.
+Derrick Lyles
Man I miss my G I've sold it to get the Korg Kronos. The Kronos is a bad ass board. I don't regret it one bit...
***** ohhh, I haven't bought any expansion boards yet but I did buy a custom Project/Sound Banks from a firm online. $60 for new sounds and drum kits. I'm using it now for the project I'm working on. The only negative is the custom Sound banks causes the Fantom to boot a lot slower, like 5 minutes or so. So I'm guessing it's a pretty extension re configuration of internal memory. Are you going to post any songs using the new boards? I'd love to hear what you come up with.
Yeah, the relationship end was a huge disappointment because it was for selfish childish reasons on her part. To make matters worse, I already owned a XP-50 fully expanded that still works but the Fantom was a purchase we made together even though she comes from a flute background. The plan was to show her how to use the XP and learn the Fantom together and produce songs. I was going to give her the XP with all of the expansion cards. It would have been awesome but apparently it wasn't that important to her because of how incredibly silly her reasons were for ending it. But hey, that's life. In retrospect I'm grateful for the end because I've gained more than I lost as a result.
Maurice Jackson hello sir. Can i use a monitor screen or lcd tv to have a larger screen?
Excellent
Just purchased mine today excellent keyboard
Recently managed to find a weighty G8 to buy - what a beast!
Catchy tune, I like it!!
this dude nailed it
Great demo!! Thank you very much. And that track was the SHIT! On point, well done.
I sold my G8 in 2009, just saw this video 2016 and have regrets selling it. :-)
very nice
Your doing it neo.nice...
MANNNN This thang is something serious!!!
I need this for trance hypnotic music mixing
THANK YOU for sharing this recording. Is there a possibility in the OS v. 1.5 FG-8 to change the brightness of the LCD screen? Greetings.
I love the sequencer on the Fantom G6 I wish my Korg Kronos was half as intuitive and user friendly as my G6.
i guess Im asking the wrong place but does anyone know a tool to get back into an Instagram account??
I somehow forgot my account password. I love any help you can offer me
@Ryan Willie instablaster :)
@Axton Jaxtyn I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process now.
Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Axton Jaxtyn It worked and I now got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thank you so much, you really help me out!
@Ryan Willie No problem xD
when you change that effect on the guitar patch, you have to go save the patch as a user patch right? (or does it save with the song?)
exactly that. I took Korg M3 instead just for recording in my daw. In every other case Virus TI for all my needs.
an awesome workstation DISCONTINUED.....
Harsh Trivedi anyone interested message me for a nice near mint condition one ready for sale end of oct 2017 fantomseraph@gmail.com
@@fantomseraph1076 price?
BUEN TECLADO...VERY GOOD...
This is the best keyboard ever.I regret selling this
6 years back but as destiny would have it I am getting it back(2 more days-got a used version from guitar center.hehehe).Screw you Korg-Kronos!!!!The last good keyboard of Korg was N364 after that it went all down hill. :D
How's the G6 coming alone
I know for me, I might not like one sound better than another, but I appreciate all sounds. I think alot of us are very ungrateful for the sounds that we are given. I have had sounds that I thought could never be used, and after tweeking it and shaping the sound just a little bit, it made the whole beat sound better. We are too quick to judge a sound if it is not like top notch or "professional." Some of the best beats that I have ever made, were made with sounds that I thought would not work at all, and they ended up blending in perfectly to make the beat sound awesome. We need to give all sounds a chance. A "professional" sound is not always needed.
Nathan Coleman yep. Just stacking two sounds is such a simple trick that I rarely do. Most people don’t realize that even if you stack two easily identifiable sounds, 99% of people will NOT be able to identify either original sound when they hear the combo!
Sir.. u did best
the g is sadly very limited in Arpeggios...i had M3 motif in they were packed with preset Arp. not only phrases..would there be any update for the arp in the ROland we need guitar Arp. piano Arp. pls
Where are parts 2 and 3?
you can do it but fantom pads are not as sensitive/expressive as mpc pads. I mainly use it for switching stuffs or triggering samples only. if i really need pads for beats, I just hook my M-Audio Trigger Finger using MIDI.
Love my Fantom8 Doesn't take compurter programer... It's easer than my other workstation, Adding the Fantom 7 op syst 2.0 next year to run the 2 fantoms midi fantom 7 and Fantom G8 ran midi.. Cant wait.. Still love the G8 a real feel piano keys feel like a grand piano!, a real one
I’ve got the G8 too - with the FA07 up above when I want to midi in those Supernatural sounds. Fantastic combo!!
I've had this board sitting in a corner for over two years now. I guess I should take it for a test drive.
seems like u dont need it...would u like to sell or give it out?
Never thought about selling it, but I know I couldn't take anything under $1,600.00. It's basically a new board that just sat in a corner.
***** Actually I bought it to program some song ideas, but days later was rushed to the hospital where I spent over 10 months trying to stay alive. After weeks of rehab I ended up with 30% use of my left arm and 10% of the right. I thought maybe I could find anyway possible to pull off that test drive.
Yes we have, that's why I hesitated at first to even comment but also don't want people to think that I am the type of person your comment made me out to be. The world hearing my music would indeed be a dream fulfilled. At 59 years of age, I'm not counting on it.
***** gpaai You guys are so cute, i want to cuddle you both xxx
Hi, don't know if you can help me . I have the same Roland Fantim G6 and the screen is blue with this message "[S/W updator ] (B)" . No idea what to do ... please help :'( I have soo many things on there , I don't wanna lose them ... thanks
Is the screen touchscreen or no?
Still the best Workstation in 2019, because Fantom 2019 has not even multi-samples. I only wish they had added an ARx card with a VA engine. Drums, E-Piano and Brass are not good enough.
Yo - that is what the Integra is for! :) put that in a rack, prop up your iPad for control of the supernatural synths, Bada bing, Bada boom! Seriously though - all that the new Fantom did - was get me to find and buy a used G! Coming soon, hopefully.
cual es mejor?tyros 4 o este?gracias
whats price of roland fantom g6, g8, in 2022, in indian rupees?
how to modify the pitch bend(changing the amount of the pitch bend)?
+Django Pipo You can adjust this in the "Edit" Page of each Program.
I used to have an X6 with a fully programmable apreggiator, It the Arp on the 'G' series fully programmable?
Comes with 127 built in but you can create many more by saving midi phrases and then using the ARP import function.
Quiero comprar un Roland fanton G6 me lo puede conseguir?
If a full song is made, then can sections of the song be triggered live? Like..... repeating the chorus again, or skipping a section? Of course the various sections should be assignable to the trigger pads for this to work.
Am asking because then it could be used as an arranger as well. Just make the song and trigger various sections as needed in a live situation.
What's it's cost
Can you get organ modulation/Leslie like you can get in the Korg's?
Anderson Blooper yep
wade settle How do you do that?
why dont you use pads for beats?
Why hasn't Roland put a decent acoustic piano in their workstations/synthesizers? Their stage pianos sound phenomenal. Why couldn't they put one of these pianos in their Fantom G or X? Korg, Yamaha, and Nord would've had some serious competition. In terms of cost-effectiveness, I can't imagine it being more than the Kronos. I just don't get it.
Roland wanted to reuse their existing SRX sounds based on 4-velocity layers which unfortunately, the Fantom G is also based on. So the level of subtlety in the piano realism was limited compared to Yamaha, Korg and Nord which had least eight. Also, the sample waveform size in the Fantom G was only 256MB so the size was smaller in comparison to the Kronos which was in the gigabyte range with disk streaming allowing the natural decay of the piano to be captured. In the case of the Fantom G, it would have to have loop points set up to achieve an artificial decay which sounded more unnatural.
Another factor that affected the acoustic piano patches in the Fantom G was the Roland used a new sound engine which in my opinion revealed how the lower quality of piano samples drowned in FX were used compared to their dedicated stage pianos. Of course, you can always painstakingly sample your own piano library and would probably get better results.
im buying one for $1200. is it a good price?
That's an AMAZING price.
i know its been a while but i hope you purchased it i got it when it was 2800 in 2008 still beast machine 2018
Derrick Small I am getting one for almost 2 g. Crazy how expensive they are still. Oddly enough the 88 keys are much cheaper!
Who knows if you can connect bluetooth speakers to it...if so how?
Via The Aux Output in The Back of the keyboard... I understand this is an old Post but most Bluetooth speakers have an auxiliary input and so you would just use an aux cable and connect them both voila!
Might be the 360p-"quality", and mono sound..
Thank Christ for quantisation. :Op
I'm interested in buying one of the basic fantom 6 Roland keyboards and I wanted to know how hard would it be for me to order some specialists software development to be written by Roland fantom 6 to include Indian subcontinent talking drums 32 and 64 BPM and some American Indian medicine drums hundred BPM or there about accompanying some Lakota chanting wishes for wellbeing and prosperity and some jembay drum rifts tuned to the Indian talking drums and tabooka drums also tuned to the Indian talking drums
So Why isn't there a touch screen yet? Korg Patent it?
To be honest, after using my Kronos- I prefer this. Non touch but the navigation is designed to be much better with buttons and dial. And mouse is best anyway if you want hands on control. More precise for this size of screen. No need for large clumsy touch controls. Let’s face it, Kronos would be way better if it accepted a mouse too. Verrrry hard to touch where you want and most people use a stylus.
I just got one. Hard to find in 61 keys.
How you liking it. It was my dream keyboard back in 2008, and never was able to afford one. Granted, it's dated, but I hear it's still a beast! I would love a KRONOS, but I refuse to buy one until Korg decides to release a new flagship that's 64 bit with an updated GUI to their OS. Still looks like it's from the 80s. Not sure if Korg will ever create a new one though, not with all the VSTs out there.
Kevbo Kev it’s a great addition. The main issue I have is the sampling isn’t as long as it was on my Fantom S. And the expansion slots are now two instead of four like it was on the fantom s.
you could use a bit more sensual base notes instead of that. those notes don't live up to that arpeggio
I just picked one up from a local producer apparently this guy did music for TV for over 20 years apparently most of his work was on game of thrones and some other shit bottom line as I pulled up to a villa and I got lucky within minutes of posting a mint pristine perfect condition G6 in original box manual cords everything as it was from the retail store the guy was super loaded and just did not use it as much as he thought he would in his million dollar studio at home 🙄🤜💥🤛LOL!🤣
bottom line is I've owned everything from the Roland MC 505 909 along with all the way back to 1996 when I've owned ENSONIQ MR and the ZR-76 WHICH AT THAT TIME WAS A $5000 MUSIC SYNTHESIZER STUDIO WORKSTATION KEYBOARD...To Korg TRITON EXTREME TO Korg M-50 and also last before this was a KORG Kross-88 and all in all I have never experienced production capability as I have with the Roland FANTOM-G6!
IT CAN BE UNDERSTANDINGLY OVERWHELMING AT TIMES....but watching this video just shows you how simple it really is to use when you don't overthink it... I considered the Roland Juno-DS the new one which was a bit more user-friendly but if you want a serious HANDS ON PRODUCTION Workstation Synth then this beast of a keyboard IS IT! ABOVE AND BEYOND ALL I have to say or anyone else's opinions may be different or easier or harder to understand....ONE FACT THAT IS UNDERSTANDABLE BY ALL WORLDWIDE IS THAT....THERE IS A VERY SIMPLE EXPLANATION BEHIND THE REASON OF WHY THIS MACHINE STILL!... ALMOST 14YRS LATER...Since 1st Manufactured & Sold Model...STILL SELLS FOR ALMOST DOUBLE AS THE NEW FANTOM...GOOD LUCK AND ENJOY YOUR FANTOM-G For I Truly Believe it will hold its value for another 14 of course as long as you take care of it and not get high and spill your Dr pepper over the keys and then going to wipe it clean you knock it over off of the stand..F**k Dat🤣 Hope I Didn't Jinx Anyone!!🙄Or Myself!🥴🤣
Peace!🤜💥🤛

Doesnt sound bad actually, i thought this was going to be a load of wank but its great well done
drums running thru a grainy fx..on purpose i bet
The Old Technics KN2000 Could have done this in a third of the time this Keyboard takes .So this is progress ,I grew a beard just watching this waiting for a finished song .YAWN has he done yet ?
سعره بالسعودي 11500 ريال.
why do you own one?
Very clever technology but it seems to take the art out of music and places into a slick production.
Excellent! But there is Cubase ?
Plz arrange keybod I'm handy caped my left hand damage
I revisit this channel after knowing that the new Fantom doesn't have real sampling capacity for 3000 USD....
You'd think the company that made some of the most iconic drum machines in music history (like the TR-808, TR-909 and the TR-707) would have better drums.
MacGyver
would still approve... ; )
I have to say you should reach out to Akai s rep and show him on his MPC 5000 Tutorial that the idea is to show the equipment and how to use certain areas not the " product experts face" Thats the worst tutorial Ive ever seen for such a machine with so many features,.BOTTOM LINE YOU DID A GREAT F$%KIN JOB THEY SHOULD REALLY SHOW THIS VIDEO TO AKAI REPS.Then you contact them and its like buying a car once they sell it they dont even remeber who has them in business.
Can't get past the bass drum sound... I'm sure everything else is fine.
The sound of a piece of duct tape as a bass drum, modern? I am sure this board is a bit more capable
.
Too technical for my enjoyment!
ponlo en español xfa we
I miss my G6 so much.... shouldn't have sold it. Dumb.
u can add memory lol
I'll take a Korg Kronos any day over this.
Susanfaery why is that, just curious?
@@fantomseraph1076 Because he's about as intelligent as a file of bricks.
The kick drum is annoying, but I know it's just a demostration. LOL
yeah that shit sucks
Anything you want this has!?... LIES... They took out the Arpeggio & Rhythm Editors which were the holy grail in the creative process.. I have the X7 X8 and now the G7 and have to go back and use my X7's Arpeggio/Rhyhm editor when ever I want to map or create various arpegios or rhythm sets.. it's ridiculous.. Roland.. you guys Killed the Fantom legacy with the G series and the FA.. you "had" a good thing with the X Series.. anyoen want a G7.. looking at selling mine because of it.. ugh.. :smh:
i think making a keyboard act like a daw si a very waste of energy resources and time. what this guy is doing here is very fun , but useless. in the era of daws you should be more concentrated on making better synths , keyboards with enhanced analog feel or sample based libraries like Spetrasonics instead of making a feature a few will use. pointless in my opinion ,but fun .
Kontakt all day tell em bro
+Kos Tell Right on - people forget the editing he did in 12 minutes could be done in like 2 minutes within a pc after all the sounds have been imported to the PC. I love the Screen but very upset the touchscreen isn't there.
10 times faster than any computer, if you record "on the fly" And the best performances are made "in the zone." But that is another level ... For 99% of composers a computer is just OK:)
Kos Tell interesting, so as far as hardware what do you have just curious? And software?
Going to fast on the tutorial
It looks like an amazing keyboard, but god is it ugly.
Please my country E I am India my fantom G6 purchase your fantom G6 sale yes S no my tuition answer me your answer waiting please please please
why do people always have to list what gear they have (or more likely wish they had)
dudes we don't give a FK
no reason to play, just talk like a talk show
lol is it because its an unconventional sound?
This is why I dumped this board.
This is so Anachronistic, you have this animal of $4000 + , when you can get a much better thing with a PC and a Midi Controller. So out of time ...
crap
